Love these vids. I live in Qld Australia which is sub tropical. Very little rain this yr. None at all during May. Bore has gone saline so im getting a water conditioner to help out.

haha...! I did the same thing. i look out and 3/4 of the winter garden is alliums. but HOSS tools sent me so many more shallots than i thought. and came out with new onion seeds. Dont forget the elephant garlic!! Its looking great with the weather

Travis -- Great video . . . I'm feeling a lot better about setting mine up this spring! Thanks for doing this! I remember a while back in one of your row-by-row shows you talked about how long you had to run drip tape to get an inch of water. I can't seem to locate that specific video now. Can you refresh me on the math? I seem to remember that it was about 90 minutes for an inch . Is that right -- or close

That seems about right. I'd have to go back in my notes and check. I am planning on doing a watering video in the next week or two talking about frequency with different crops.
Now hold on hoss! You forgot your back flow preventer... and use some brass quick connectors on your 4 way! That's what I did and love it! Click .. click boom fertilizer! I absolutely love that thing and the microboost!
I did forget the back flow preventer, which is required in some municipalities. And yes, the quick connects do make it easier to swap back and forth.

I used to use a hose end sprayer or garden sprayer to apply fertilizer - Oh, my aching back! I LOVE my EZ Flo! It's made this old lady's life SO much easier! Whenever I water or fertilize, I have my tea break and relax - Big difference!

should put a check-valve on the 4 way outlet then connect the Ez flow bib to it. this way you protect your well water from being contaminated by the fertilizer
We do carry a backflow preventer that can be used above the injector.

Yes, we use it with our tripod sprinkler from time to time. We'll run some fish emulsion through it to add some nutrients preplant.
Yeah my pear tree is putting out blooms and the buds are swelling on the peach tree.
I can't remember it being this warm in January and I'm no spring chicken. I can however remember ice spewing from the ground in January. We can look for a bad insect problem this summer.
Those fruit trees blooming early can be bad news if we get a late frost. Happened a few years ago and really hurt the fruit growers. And yes, the insect pressure will be exceptionally high this year. Planting early as possible will be a must.
Say it ain't so! We still have February to go through but the old farmers almanac says we shouldn't get any snow and I hope not because I have to work in that stuff lol
Mornin Travis I have a quick question: In each of my plots I use drip tape and I have set up automatic Anti Siphon valves with Pressure Regulators in your opinion is it OK to install the injection set up before the vales or after the regulator on the down stream side? My preference is before the valves ....
It's always easier to install above the valves and regulators as long as your pressure is under 50 psi.
At time stamp 8:49 .. what if I am using a hose to water 20 hanging baskets.. would I use the white disk? I normally use 1 tablespoon per gallon of water in a bucket but I want to get this. I love it !!! 😊😊😊How much fertilizer would I use in the Hoss EZ Flo?
This is for in ground drip system. For your hanging baskets, you would need to use our Brass Siphon Mixer is a time-tested device for accurately proportioning fertilizer, pesticide and fungicide into your plant watering system. Works great in greenhouses and grow rooms. MADE IN THE USA!
The Siphon Mixer dispenses fertilizers, insecticides, fungicides and other water soluble chemicals through a hose to the growing area. This is not a cheap, plastic siphon mixer that you may find in the big box stores. Note: Not compatible with hose over 50 feet. This is the only Siphon Mixer that's made with brass and that's MADE IN THE USA!
Simply attach the brass end to your water faucet or hose and place the rubber siphoning hose into a bucket of fertilizer, insecticide or fungicide. It has a "backflow preventer" which prevents any of your chemical from traveling backwards into your water supply. The spring filter eliminates clogging from any solids in your chemical source.

Do you have a check valve/vacuum breaker in your system so you contaminate your well with fertilizer?

Any of these greens (hosstools.com/product-category/premium-garden-seeds/greens/) will grow in a window. You can harvest them with scissors and they'll keep growing back!
Great unit. But my system i set up with 1" PVC tubing. Do you have a tube unit i can plumb into my 1"pvc?
All you need is a water hose fitting to connect
Do you need to connect the EZ Flo directly to the hose bib or could you connect it at the inline between hoses?
We connect ours in-line between hoses for some of our other plots and it works just fine.
Premix fertilizer pour into tank then fill tank with water. What are the in line valves for.
The in-line valves help to establish the pressure needed to siphon the fertilizer/water from the tank into the water supply.
Seems to me that you get at least a third more production if you use drip tape and fertigation because you can plant closer together.Is that right? Drip tape also reduces certain plant diseases from overhead spraying.
Less diseases and drastically less weed pressure. The ability to plant closer is another marked advantage.
What is the benefit of the EZ-FLO system over a brass siphon mixer?
The brass siphon mixer is designed for short-hose situations, like hand-watering a greenhouse or patio plants. It will not work with a drip system.

Requesting a little math help for fertilizing containers of tomato, cucurbits etc with triple 20. If we hand water them, how many grams of triple 20 should go into a 5 gallon bucket so I can take one cup of the solution to apply to each plant every 2 weeks. Thank you
Not sure with grams, but figure 1-2 cups per 5 gallon bucket.

I ordered my fertilizer injection system today and did not see any options on tanks, is there two that can be purchased ?
We now only offer the 1 gallon tank. We made some improvements compared to the tank shown in this video:
1) The coupler is now made of brass.
2) The tank is now made of PVC and will not rupture when left under pressure.
I never thought the words "Plant too much" and "Onions" could be used in the same sentence. If you find you've got too many of those fine Georgia onions you don't know what to do with I'll be more than happy to take them off your hands [;-)

I was thinking of using an inline fertilizer for my drip irrigation. How do I know how much to add of fish emulsion? On normal applications I use 2 tablespoons per 1 gallon of water and then pour. Through a system I have no idea. My emitters are all rated about .5 gal per hour.
It's hard to overdo it with fish emulsion. I usually use a quart per 1,000 square feet when I inject it.

Hi Travis can we connect that to an overhead sprinkler to use on cover crops or a spray nozzle to fertilized a large number of seedlings at once. Just wondering how many applications we can use it for.

Yes, I use it on my tripod sprinkler and it works great. I frequently use it with fish emulsion on my cover crops to help feed the soil.
I’m wondering if it would work in the greenhouse for hand watering the seedlings? I am currently using the brass siphon mixer and don’t like that I have to stir up the fertilizer every time I want to use it. This would be much better...
It would work, but you're not supposed to leave the tank under constant pressure. So that could be an issue. We use the siphon mixer in the greenhouse and our 20-20-20 never settles once dissolved the first time.
Wont the dilution rate become weaker n weaker because there is water going into the tank?
Yes, but that doesn't really matter. Whatever weight or liquid measure of fertilizer you put in the tank is what's delivered to the plants.
I didn't see a backflow prevented installed at the well faucet. Are you not worried about fertilizer backflowing into your well water. Have a Great Day
Not worried about it here unless the power was to go out while it was running. But we do have backflow preventers available on the site.
My clear line leaving my injector doesn’t seem to be gaining any color? I added food coloring and my fertilizer has color too. What am I doing wrong?

This is a very good video but it just reminds me of treating your garden or Farm like it's a junkie.
Plants need nutrients just like people do. Our sandy soils don't retain nutrients very well, so we have to supplement them.
Naw. I will always take the extras. Lol. I don't cook much with salt but I go thru onions and garlic like nobody's business.
We have onion with pretty much every meal we eat.

The old design had a tank made of HDPE plastic, and was subject to rupture if left under constant pressure. Our new design (hosstools.com/product/hoss-fertilizer-injector/) has a PVC tank that can be left under constant pressure and brass fittings instead of plastic with the old one. For simplicity reasons, we decided it was best to just have one tank size going forward.

I'm disabled, on a three figure income, for myself and boys, no outside help. Have the knowledge from family passed down, to grow and raise food, but can't because the resources needed are out of financial reach. Have done it twice before, with great results, in my somewhat, long and complicated life.
