Excellent! I've only recently thought about fertilizer injection and experienced some "sticker shock" when browsing the bigger, nicer setups. Your solution is clean and simple and probably the way I will construct my own. Thanks!!
Two tip for viewers, mount the injector with unions on each side for future removal/replacement. Also a vale on each side, so you can make a pressure differential, as well a gauge on each side, I also put a main shutoff to open when not using the injector, it's a bypass.
@@charlescoker7752 yes, I have a flow meter on intake hose, I can adjust my main valves, and also one on the intake, so I know how many GPH of Fert. is going out, as I use different solutions, I take a gallon jar, time it, and see if it corresponds to the gauge, as different solutions act differently, it probably isn't that critical, but I can feed according to leaf sampling, different feeds at differing stages.
How about a simple drawing, I believe I understand but a picture with unions, valves , flow meters, psi guages, etc is worth a thousand words just to confirm.
Yes, you may need to be able to "choke" the main line to get the flow and pressure differential you need for good operation. Depending on downstream demand, and the relationship between pipe size, pressure, and flow, you will need to find the sweet spot. On my commercial farm, we use 1" venturies in 1" lines branched off 3" irrigation supply. I feather in the injection and choke the main to get a steady pressure and flow, and depending on how many zones I open, I change the choke position on the main line
Appreciate the video, however due to a lack of pressure differential in my drip tape setup, it did not work for me. For people in the same situation, I was able to work around it by throwing a 12 volt submersible pump in my bucket of fertilizer and forcing it through. Make sure you have a back flow preventer to stop it from going in to your water supply.
Hey Dre just a note to say I really enjoy watching your channel, your videos are very informative. Got someone your age with a well of knowledge is amazing. Keep your head up buddy keep on planting on. You are doing great
I bought a fertilizer venturing unit. Works great when water flows through with NO back pressure (spray nozzle or even drilling) . Install spray nozzle or drilling No suction from fertilizer bottle.
How do you know how much fertilizer your plants are getting? I want to make one of these but I'm not sure how potent to make the fertilizer and how much to make. Great video and love the idea !
Just figure how many pounds of actual nutrient you want to put down. It’ll get diluted out but that’s fine beucase you know how much went out in that given area.
So I try to make one today, but I updated a little bit and instead of having a shut off valve I have a b-hyve timer actually two. But mine is not sucking up fertilizer. Mine is actually shooting water into the bucket. What am I doing wrong? I’m not wasting any fertilizer, I try to prime it to see if it would suck but it’s not
@@joejanes7818 I'm sure he meant 90 degrees/quarter turn. I've done amateur PVC for decades and never heard of any "percent rotation"...but, for those who haven't used the stuff before, this clarification may be necessary.

This is usually accomplished through a pressure reducer which goes on after the filter and hose setup. Too much pressure blows the fittings off and can damage the drip tape 12 and under is acceptable to most folks
I did this exact setup to hook up to my hose from my well.. I’m guessing the pressure might be too high it’s a 30/50 switch, because the water is coming out of the fertilizer tube from my 5 gallon bucket.. I even made sure I had the arrow going to my left when I made the set up. Is there a pressure regulator or reducer that you can recommend? Thanks
Hey dre, just built your injector. I'm having trouble getting it to siphon when it is on the flow in side of my 4 zone auto timer. However it works as expected when the timer is taken out of the system. Any suggestions?
Need some advice. I made the fertilizer Injector following your instructions. I mounted it on a 4x4 that has the power source for my 20HP Zoeller pump that pumps water from my pond to water the garden. The injector is not pulling fertilizer from the 5 gallon bucket. I have it positioned correctly with the arrow. I also have the correct size tubing. Any advice you can give me would be great. Thanks!

i made this same set up but will not draw from the bucket .. i even took the flow valve off the small suction tuve still would not flow . even put on sprinkler still nothing i get 15 plus gallons a minute full out what is wrong dre..?
You mentioned 12psi, I didn't see a pressure reducer in the high tunnel you showed at the end, does this injector work with a pressure reducer of 12psi or not? Also you don't have the link to the venturi in the description box... Thanks
How do you build it backwards? I dont see it, since the ball valve is either open or closed and non directional. I could very well be wrong. Please explain. Thanks for the video I'll be making one later today
Is there a way to compute how much fertilizer it injects to the water it mixes with? I'm planning to put a mixing tank after the venturi injector where I can measure the EC and/or pH before it goes to my system
Hi Farmer Dre,,can I use a hose longer than 50' with this device?? (actually my hose is a 5/8 or 3/4 diameter and is 78' long, with a high flow garden hose gun at the end,)will it work? some kind of siphons systems are limited to 50' hose length from after the device to the nozzle or gun.
You could put on the end of your hose with an X ft hose for the outlet. Then you only have X ft of siphon system. Only additional cost is a cheap hose pipe.
Help! Would this set up work with the the injector and fertilizer container ABOVE the pvc pipe laying on the ground?? Any information would be appreciated!!
This only works because of the 2" hose running to his drip lines reducing water pressure. If that hose were small back pressure would prevent suction. Remember that drip tape peeps. I learned this the hard way.
@@GregHarrisFL Any reduction of water pressure after the Venturi will prevent suction. If you are using drip tape, normally, some sort of PSI reducer would need to be present to prevent bursting driptape. If that is PSI redaction placed after the Venturi system it will not work.

I bought an injector and with my fertilizers (Jacks Classic) normal mix I'm not getting very much to the plants. it very diluted. It's delivering about 80 PPM. I'd like to see closer to 900PPM. how do you proportion your fertilizer mix concentration in the bucket?
Have you come up with a solution? Another option is micro dose fertilization, where you just constantly have that small amount of fertilizer mixed with your water constantly when your irrigation turns on

What is the ratio of fertilizer to water when open or what is your settings for healthy plants? What concentration is your fertilizer supply?
