★★★ *FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT THE VIDEO / FACT UPDATES* ★★★
NOTE: some of these answers are from Johnathon at Furrion Exo-Bionics himself, from his comments below.
*1) at 4 Tonnes it weighs to much for a Racing Team, drop 2 tonnes to be viable* - "We are already working on Mech 2.0. Two thirds the size, half the weight, twice the power...stay tuned!"
*2) Can the Pilot get hurt if one of the legs gets yanked or pulled hard, will it hurt the pilots arm or leg?* - "If by hit you mean by some sort of ordinance, or strike from another mech, that is not a scenario we're after. We are not building these to fight. If by "hit" you mean by an obstacle, or falling tree, then yes, the pilot would feel it - if it was a big enough impact to affect the 400kg leg significantly. With 200hp at your finger tips (or toes) and enough force to lift a car, it would have to be a substantial before it would become a nuisance. The heart of this mech is a patent pending exo-skeletal control system that locks the pilots limbs to those of the mech with full force and positional feedback in 100% realtime. If the mech can't move, the pilot can't move."
*3) What is the Power Source and Range of the Mech?* - it uses twin AC motors at about 75kW each, creating 200 hp, with a lithium ion battery running it
, it can run at up to 30 kph and can run for 1 hour, so 30 klms is it's range, but they have only walked at about 6 kph so far.

      @exosapientech 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Thanks for aggregating those responses Scott.
I wish #3 was correct. Unfortunately 30km/h is the THEORETICAL top speed, but that would require a power plant upgrade (with existing tech) that we plan to incorporate in Mech 2.0. With the current power plant we hope to break 10km/h with some more sophisticated hydraulic control (coming soon with our new smart cylinders from RHK Hydraulics and MTS Temposonic!!! - see our Instagram: instagram.com/p/CF-QPUZBpZO/) and a WHOLE LOT of pilot training. At that speed the current battery pack would last about 15-20min, giving us a maximum best case rage of ~3km with the current set up.

    • @ulforcemegamon3094

@@yurisabrori yeah there is no organic being that can grow that big, but a mech wouldnt be made of bone and flesh a mech would be made of steel, aluminium and titanium, there are also limitations to what nature can accomplish due to evolution, we don't have any of those limitations since we design and build those machines using our knowledge of physics and mathematics, if we where to build a mech it would be designed in such a way that it can sustain it's own weight and remain standing without falling apart
Simply speaking saying "a mech is imposible because there is no animal in nature that big" is kinda dumb, you know what else doesnt exist in nature, rockets, computers, airplanes, fighter jets, skyscrapers
No tree can grow to 800 meters, does that mean that building something 800 meters tall is imposible, no and we have buildings that big and even bigger planned
Also real life mechs wouldnt probably be too tall, at much like 6 or 7 meters (the size of a two story building in most of the world) and probably a little bit smaller in general, not like 100 meters or some bullshit like that

It's much heavier than the equivalent size of rover / dune buggy. That makes it much harder to get to Mars. You also need to take into account landing it on the surface without breaking the legs. Of course R&D being what it is, this prototype is going to be wildly different from the production version of 20 years from now so who knows.
AFAIK, space agencies have only expressed interest in man-sized humanoid robots as an alternative to rovers.

it will still be awhile yet, they claim the mechs can reach a speed of 30 kph, but have only had it upto 5kph, so speed will be the next thing they need to work on.
it's not about horsepower or mechanics, it's about pilot skills and coordination of his arms & legs to control the machine.

Well ..tbh there are a a few major drawbacks to mechs but also a couple benefits. It's a big slow target , but it could almost mount more armour then a rolling vehicle and go anywhere with minimal support. It would need to find a specific spot to be useful

I realize this is made for sport, but I see the military side of this and mounting autocannons on its back or using it to move an Artillery cannon on its back

Interesting early attempt. For something so crude it works quite well. I think automating a lot of the movement so you don't have to manually move the legs to walk, and instead just press "forwards" would be good. Leave the mirrored movements to manipulating objects.

would defeat the purpose of it being an exoskeleton. this mech is actually called "Prothesis The Anti Robot"
if you automate features it becomes a robot.
