Fantastic cover. My old man got me into Marty Robbins and other great storytellers of the genre. He'd have loved this. Also this reminded me to go work on my "Cattle Call" cover lol
My grandfather used to play me this song on 8track in the eighties. A whole spaghetti western in my imagination. I played music professionally for decades but never wanted to try and touch this. This is the first time I've heard this song sound so accessable. Well fuckin done, you just made it human and terrestrial finally.
A friend of mine used to often play this in my old restaurant, he's passed now, but I can still remember him singing it with acoustic geetar, heavy bass line Thanks for uploading
AAAHHH!!! It's like the story is spreading across America. Marty Robbins told the tale in the Southwest. Colter Wall took the story up the Rocky Mountains into the Northwest. And now you've brought it to Appalachia! Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful.

I was expecting this to be 14+ years old. When kids still listened to their parents’ and grandparents’ albums and cd’s to find what is truly music. Thank you for posting. This talent shouldn’t be kept to oneself.
Oh, you are lovely! I absolutely loved Marty R's Gunfighter Ballads growing up, knew the whole album...so glad to see that it hasn't been lost to Time...and you are an ACE on that banjo! Cheers!❤😊❤😊❤
I just got back from camping in northern maine. This banjo is making me feel like im floating over the amazing landscape of pine trees, mountains and rivers.
I discovered the song “Big Iron” just this past month for the very first time. I was just scrolling TH-cam results for the song and yours popped up. Never stop what you’re doing, you have a beautiful gift. You inspired me so much from another one of your videos I even bought a harmonica! Thank you!!!
You have the voice of an angel, my dear… and impeccable banjo picking. I’m old, and grew up listening to my dad play Marty Robbin’s and I loved this song my whole life….BUT YOUR VERSION IS BETTER! Just beautiful! ❤
A beautiful rendition. My dad would've absolutely loved this and I'm smiling imagining him watching this with me. Thank you for posting it for the world to listen to.
Holy shit, I heard this track always in the ingame Radio from Fallout New Vegas, but never knew the name and now the algorithm sent me to this video and I'm like OOOOOOOF Thank you so much making this cover, it is awesome and I feel nostalgic as shit
Tender tunes, as usual. Big Iron is most welcomed. With well loved popular songs as this, is it possible to consider Ghost Riders in the Sky or is too slow for banjo? The song is just so ethereal.
Wow. Your performances never fail to awe me. It's like being taken back in time. The setting, the clothing, the hat, the singing and the playing. It's all perfect and makes me so glad we get to see such a thing. Extremely well done as always.
❤I remember hearing the original by Marty Robbins while driving across the desert in the late 60s as a young child. This cover is beautiful!💌 ❤This cover is beautiful and I thank you for bringing it back to me.
Her exact banjo is the most widely-recommended beginner banjo. It's called a Deering Goodtime. A great banjo to learn on and as you can hear, it's not just for beginners.
Just imagine Season 2 (Fallout) starting with this cover and the camera backing from Vegas until you can see first the Ghoul and then Lucy as she looks back to California for the last time in who knows how much time and then it cuts to Maximus, then Norm, Thaddeus, the guy with the "sand filter"...
You cleaned the vocal out and delivered it with lady claws of majesty!. There is no person on the planet that is you but yourself, and thank you for being you darling! 😘🙌🙏👯
My parents got that album when it first came out. Played it so much we wore it out in a short time. I just got back from a musicians festival over this holiday weekend. sore fingers. abused voice and played the fiddle so much my neck hurts. Fantastic. Even had nice weather with some northern lights. Oh yes. You did a great job on this tune. It';s 1 Am. Now I can go to bed.

I’ve heard this song since I was knee high to a tadpole, have owned the Gunfighter Ballads album since high school, and have played clawhammer banjo since I was 16 (52 years ago), but I never thought of playing this particular song on the banjo. Your version works great with your fine voice and pickin’!
