Treatment does need to be around the entire perimeter. The dirt backfilled into the trench must be treated as well. Further, a lot of water is being dumped next to the foundation at each downspout. S ants and termite colonies are usually active in early spring. Usually the smaller insects come out first also. We’ve been seeing a lot of ants here already
@@DanTheBugMan termites and ants...excellent candidates!. smaller ones can be tricky cause they can get trapped in grooves. but i think if you found the Queen, that will be the greatest one to test it out haha
We bought a house with an extension both have concrete slabs. We found termites in the shower but can't find how they are getting in. We think they are coming up through the join in the concrete, what can we do?
Yeah termites can get into a structure through the very smallest cracks, so finding out where they are getting in isn’t super important. If you want to treat the home yourself then just buy the correct product and treat it as shown. Or you can always call a local pest company and get a professional opinion
Can this product be used to treat those termites that invade the lawn and have visible mud tunnels usually during the dry months? Just spray infected area with sprayer?
Thanks for your videos, Dan the Bug Man! Our home has a connecting driveway, and walkways adjacent to the main slab. Only about 50% of the main slab is adjacent soil. What do you advise?
Just finished watching your video! Super informative! I didnt see you put the dirt back into the trench that you dug out. Should you pour more Taurus SC with water on top of the dirt when you refill the trench?
You're welcome! How far out does this concrete go? If its not very far just trench and treat around the concrete. If its completely surrounded then you may need to call a professional so they can use special equipment

warclassics you might be okay with just treating the two sides where there is dirt. As long as the termite colony comes in contact with the chemical, it will kill then off. And check domyown.com
@@DanTheBugMan Thanks, I bought the 20 oz. bottle! It won't arrive for another week though. One more question just to make sure: I have a 5 gallon bucket so I need to mix 4 oz. of this stuff into the 5 gallons of water right? It says 0.80 fluid ounces next to the cap. The swarmers have been coming out every day 😰 I plan on using some Harris termite powder on the bare wood inside my house too.
Have a crucial question in relation to trenching. Like after a couple years the trench topmost soil with Termidor will somehow degrade due to any reason like rain or snow. What if termites forage not under ground soil but halfway on the top ground itself to your home being the window/door as their entry point, from this angle I would say trenching job is unworthy. Whats your take on this? Many thanks from your valuable info. and videos.
14:35 I am on a slab. I had a Bugman come spray inside & put a gel bait inside (which I didn't like) & sprayed outside. I still have ants coming inside. I saw your video using the sprays inside & out. Will that work if I have an an infestation?
What if my soil has pebbles in it and how much is too much? My soil has large pebbles on top so it’s mixed in. Should I add back store bought dirt first?
Dan my house is 2900 two stories. Can you please tell me what it would be in linear feet and also how deep you dig the trench and what is the promotion to water and taurus
Can I leave the backfill out or do I need to put the soil back in?? If lots of rain water gets in the open trench, does that dilute the longevity of the solution?
@@DanTheBugMan After you put the backfill back in, should you spray it or pour more solution over it? Also, should the trench be as deep as possible? If I can go 1 foot deep, should I?
Yeah I think that makes sense. Like you are connected to other homes on the side. So in that case I would recommend just treating whatever sides of the home you are able to. Only put the chemical right next to the house. No need to do anything outside in the yard or perimeter
I heard someone else say to spray the dirt that is put back. I do not have a sprayer so how can I do that and do I spray it with the same solution? Once I dig the trench and pour in the solution should I also add bait stations?
Hey Dan, I'm going to be treating my house with Termidor. My question is, on 1 entire side of my house is a concrete driveway which runs right up to my foundation. I live in an older house with a basement. How do I treat this side seeing I can't dig a ditch?
My family noticed a few months ago a termite trail in the concrete/foundation next to the garage door on the outside of our house. We’ve been meaning to call someone about it but have been lacking the funds, if there’s already a trail would this method still work?
Yes, it will still work. These are subterranean termites so they live underground and go up that mud tube to eat. As they are coming and going they will be getting the chemical on them and spreading it to the others and the colony will be dead. Patience is key. It can take a few weeks to destroy the colony.
Is there any benefit to calling 2 or 3 local pest control companies to give me a free estimate to get info and knowledge of my property issues? Or should I just do the liquid perimeter right away?
Yeah I would give at least one a call. They can do a free inspection and just get some professional eyes on it to make sure its nothing out of the ordinary. The only downside is that you might get a call back or two trying to sell you the treatment, at least that's our companies protocol.
Hi Bryce. You will definitely be okay with that much time. It just needs a few minutes to seep into the soil. As long as its not still puddled up then the chemical will begin to bond to the soil whenever it gets into it
12:45 I hate those plastic things in the ground, they actually load them with attractants for the termites. When the termites come and eat it, because you've been shouting to them to come near your house, they can then say "oops, you have termites". I would prefer to do the trench treatment you have around the house and do another one around the perimeter of the property.
@@jamesbruce2748 My understanding is that the bait attracts them so you see they are present, you then proceed to use liquid to eradicate them. You're saying the bait has insecticide in it already?
@@DanTheBugMan Thanks . Dan does it mater what type of termite? Because I have a Concerete house and they are claiming up outsidethe house. Eatting away at the Concerete. I will let you know. Thanks again.
Thank you for the video. I just found out I have termites. I will like to treat it myself. I also will like to use termite Baiting station. Which baiting product would you recommend?
Good luck with the treatment! I think it would be overkill to do bait stations and a liquid treatment, but if you would like, I would use advance termite bait system. Easy to use with annual replacement
So if you don't need to treat the backfill, then is it ok to dig the top soil for gardening above the treatment? They always say not to disturb the soil against the house.
I have a critical question, as per say digging 6 inch deep by 6 inch wide, but termite can be as deep as 20 ft. below the ground, so they can bypass the 6 inch deep trenching with termiticide. Thanks for your advice tip.
They still have to crawl up through the treated dirt to gain access. Expansion joints and water pipes entering the slabs should also be treated for the reason you say.
The bad part about foundation wrap is it inhibits inspection ability. But don't worry about getting chemical inside the wrap. Just treat the soil. Termites live in the soil so that's the area were targeting
@@DanTheBugMan I tried getting a pest control company to do this install and provide protection guarantee for termites but they said they won't guarantee anything due to the wrap... so looks like I'm doing it myself for $100 instead of paying them the $1800 they wanted.
Hi Dan, love your videos, very helpful and helps me to save lots of money! Much appreciated! Is there any way to do preventative termite treatment that isn’t a bait station nor requires any trenching around the home?
Awesome video, very informative! Had my place built 2020 and have the centricon that NW is charging me $375 a year for. No way,! i dont do subscriptions, only one time long term thing. So i have had them come remove the stations and getting the liquid treatment done to cover 5-10years.
Thank you! Yeah I agree. 375 is way too high especially annually. Liquid treatment is way more efficient. Companies only do the bait stations because it’s more recurring service
Dan, keep saving us money. You covered yourself when you said follow the instructions & wear PPP. I LOVE YOU & GUY PEST CONTROL CHANNEL. I have two questions: 1. I have a circular driveway in front of my house. Should I also trench from the street up to the house and around & next to the U shape? 2. What's the best sprayer ( I dont care about the cost) to reach the untreated wood in my attic of my Florida home?. I'm a female & I don't ont want to go all the way up on the beams in the attic to spray. Is there a sophisticated sprayer or fogger that reaches to the other side of a 1600 sq feet house? I want to buy Bora Care & the dye to spray my own attic as a pre- treatment to getting my tent in November. A Tent alone is useless .
@@kingalingkaching6545Drywood. I found put after posting my questions that I have drywood, not subterranean termites. I bought Taurus SC. I guess I no longer need to dig a trench. I returned my expensive $400 sprayer. I see the termites flying around my porch lights at night and my corner flood lights
The label says apply .8 fl oz of concentrate per gallon of finished solution. This is the dilution rate…. Then, it says apply 4 gallons of finished solution per 10 linear feet of soil you are treating. That means for every 10 linear feet you will use 3.2 fl oz of concentrate (.8 x 4)…. So if you need 3.2 fl oz of concentrate per 10 linear feet, then you need 65.2 fl oz of concentrate for 204 linear feet. So 78 is more than enough, you would actually only need 65 fl oz for a adequate treatment
In most cases, the colony lives in the ground, then they send the worker and swarmer termites up into the wood. so yes they could be in the wood. just verify that they are termites first
Hi Dan, thanks for the video. Very informative. What would be the way to go in a townhouse with an active infestation of dry wood termites? The house is attached to the other 2 townhouses, leaving only space for treatment in the front and back of the property?. In fact, the backside of the property is a patio, with the outdoor flooring around the foundation made of concrete. It`s only in the front where I could dig as you did in the video. What would you recommend? Does it make any sense to make this kind of treatment? If not, what`s the most efficient for the dry wood ones? Thank you!
A couple of things... Dan is missing PPE. The label specifies Gloves & Long Sleeves (not rolled up.) Also, read and follow the instructions on the label exactly. It is violation of federal law to use this product in a manner inconsistent with its labeling. Not "This is close enough, you don't have to be exact." In this case, the minimum trench depth is 6" or to the bottom of the footing. "Just 3-4 inches" as done in the video is not consistent with the labeling. If you're doing it yourself, I recommend doing it in 10 foot sections for consistency. Trench 10 feet, mix your concentrate, pour, fill.
Well you are correct in all those regards. I was trying to make the video simple and understandable for the average person to still do it correctly. PPE is most important.
Thanks for the vid, we have a cabin with a shallow water well, I don't want this washing into the water table but I've found termites in the crawlspace...not certain which way to go
Thanks for watching! Just apply it right next to the house when its not scheduled to rain for a few days. The product is suppose to bond to the soil particles so it wouldn't wash away

Thank you so much for your help.
Howdy! Yes this treatment will work perfect for that situation. You should treat as much soil around the outside perimeter of the house as you can. If the porches aren't too big, then go ahead and treat the soil around those as well. Drilling holes would only be necessary if more than 50% of the home's perimeter soil is not accessible
Thanks so much for your response! I guess overall i can access >50% of soil around home. So looks like I can avoid drilling holes and keep around foundation and probably little bit around my front and back porches/drive ways. Just one quick follow up though, wall which we know is infested do we need to do something just for that wall or not necessary! Thank you so much again for your help!

@@DanTheBugMan termites and ants...excellent candidates!. smaller ones can be tricky cause they can get trapped in grooves. but i think if you found the Queen, that will be the greatest one to test it out haha
Great coverage. Only thing to add is that everyone should be wearing gloves
With this product do you just go around the main part of the house or do you do the driveway, carport and walkways?
We bought a house with an extension both have concrete slabs. We found termites in the shower but can't find how they are getting in. We think they are coming up through the join in the concrete, what can we do?
Yeah termites can get into a structure through the very smallest cracks, so finding out where they are getting in isn’t super important. If you want to treat the home yourself then just buy the correct product and treat it as shown. Or you can always call a local pest company and get a professional opinion
@@DanTheBugMan Will doing the perimeter with liquid solution kill the termites Inside the home?
Can this product be used to treat those termites that invade the lawn and have visible mud tunnels usually during the dry months? Just spray infected area with sprayer?
Thanks for your videos, Dan the Bug Man! Our home has a connecting driveway, and walkways adjacent to the main slab. Only about 50% of the main slab is adjacent soil. What do you advise?
Just finished watching your video! Super informative! I didnt see you put the dirt back into the trench that you dug out. Should you pour more Taurus SC with water on top of the dirt when you refill the trench?
Thanks!! You can pour more on the top dirt if you have extra but it’s not necessary
what do I do if my home is surrounded by concrete? thanks for the video
You're welcome! How far out does this concrete go? If its not very far just trench and treat around the concrete. If its completely surrounded then you may need to call a professional so they can use special equipment
@@DanTheBugMan 3 feet out on the sides with an empty lot next to my house but the front and backyard are completely cement. I think you're right, I'll have to call a professional. Do you know where I can buy the Taurus solution though? I remember seeing it on Amazon but it's gone. Thanks for replying!
warclassics you might be okay with just treating the two sides where there is dirt.
Many thanks from your valuable info. and videos.
termites live deep under the soil so they will pass through the treated area before entering the home
14:35 I am on a slab. I had a Bugman come spray inside & put a gel bait inside (which I didn't like) & sprayed outside. I still have ants coming inside. I saw your video using the sprays inside & out. Will that work if I have an an infestation?
Hi Dan…nice video! Do you also recommend Navigator SC? Thanks
May I know how long can last ? Thanks
What if my soil has pebbles in it and how much is too much? My soil has large pebbles on top so it’s mixed in. Should I add back store bought dirt first?
How do you prevent for drywood termites or other termites that don't nest underground?
Dan my house is 2900 two stories. Can you please tell me what it would be in linear feet and also how deep you dig the trench and what is the promotion to water and taurus
Do the Bayer pellets work as well?
Is this effective if you already have termites? We just inherited a house and there are active termite tunnels. It's a slab foundation. Thanks!
Can I leave the backfill out or do I need to put the soil back in?? If lots of rain water gets in the open trench, does that dilute the longevity of the solution?
You should put the backfill back in after the chemical soaks in. No rain will not effect the longevity of the treatment if it is done correctly.
@@DanTheBugMan After you put the backfill back in, should you spray it or pour more solution over it?
Also, should the trench be as deep as possible? If I can go 1 foot deep, should I?
Milky Way if you have extra chemical left over you can pour it over the soil, but it’s not necessary to treat the backfill at all.
Milky Way deep is good but as long as the chemical soaks in right next to the house then it doesn’t matter much. A foot trench would be great
@@DanTheBugMan Thank You, Dan!
What recommendation do you have for a townhomes? Does it still work if only able to do my properties perimeter? Hope I made sense.
Yeah I think that makes sense. Like you are connected to other homes on the side. So in that case I would recommend just treating whatever sides of the home you are able to. Only put the chemical right next to the house. No need to do anything outside in the yard or perimeter
@@DanTheBugMan thank you
I heard someone else say to spray the dirt that is put back.
I think youre confusing the knock off bait stations with the active ingredient stations with RecruitHD
Did the treatment work ?
My family noticed a few months ago a termite trail in the concrete/foundation next to the garage door on the outside of our house. We’ve been meaning to call someone about it but have been lacking the funds, if there’s already a trail would this method still work?
Yes, it will still work. These are subterranean termites so they live underground and go up that mud tube to eat. As they are coming and going they will be getting the chemical on them and spreading it to the others and the colony will be dead. Patience is key. It can take a few weeks to destroy the colony.
What’s good for a mobile home ?
Is there any benefit to calling 2 or 3 local pest control companies to give me a free estimate to get info and knowledge of my property issues? Or should I just do the liquid perimeter right away?
Yeah I would give at least one a call. They can do a free inspection and just get some professional eyes on it to make sure its nothing out of the ordinary. The only downside is that you might get a call back or two trying to sell you the treatment, at least that's our companies protocol.
Where do you buy these chemical products? Can I buy this stuff at a store?
Question. I applied today around 6pm and it is forecasted to rain tomorrow at 10am... will my application be ineffective?
Bait is way more effective than liquid.
@@jamesbruce2748 My understanding is that the bait attracts them so you see they are present, you then proceed to use liquid to eradicate them. You're saying the bait has insecticide in it already?
On a 2200sqft new construction
How many gallons to treat entire form with Taurus sc?
Thanks for the info. I will do this.
Great! Good luck
@@DanTheBugMan Thanks . Dan does it mater what type of termite? Because I have a Concerete house and they are claiming up outsidethe house. Eatting away at the Concerete. I will let you know. Thanks again.
Ranee Albert yes this will work for most all species of termites.
Trelona
So if you don't need to treat the backfill, then is it ok to dig the top soil for gardening above the treatment? They always say not to disturb the soil against the house.
Dan you should a video on how to make your own in wall tube straying kit with a paintball tank.
I’m not sure what that is?? Haha for termites?
Bro if I got a 20 oz how many gallons of water can I mix that with
I have a critical question, as per say digging 6 inch deep by 6 inch wide, but termite can be as deep as 20 ft. below the ground, so they can bypass the 6 inch deep trenching with termiticide. Thanks for your advice tip.
They still have to crawl up through the treated dirt to gain access. Expansion joints and water pipes entering the slabs should also be treated for the reason you say.
What if I have foundation wrap around my foundation? Should I dump some inside the foundation wrap to travel down the foundation?
The bad part about foundation wrap is it inhibits inspection ability. But don't worry about getting chemical inside the wrap. Just treat the soil. Termites live in the soil so that's the area were targeting
@@DanTheBugMan I tried getting a pest control company to do this install and provide protection guarantee for termites but they said they won't guarantee anything due to the wrap... so looks like I'm doing it myself for $100 instead of paying them the $1800 they wanted.
Wayne good for you! That’s silly that wouldn’t offer the warranty. Maybe that means they don’t trust their treatment method
Can I get the solution. I tried on amazon but it won’t let me buy to my home. Please advise

Hi Dan, love your videos, very helpful and helps me to save lots of money! Much appreciated! Is there any way to do preventative termite treatment that isn’t a bait station nor requires any trenching around the home?
You've lost your mind if you this is effective
Awesome video, very informative! Had my place built 2020 and have the centricon that NW is charging me $375 a year for. No way,! i dont do subscriptions, only one time long term thing. So i have had them come remove the stations and getting the liquid treatment done to cover 5-10years.
Thank you! Yeah I agree. 375 is way too high especially annually. Liquid treatment is way more efficient. Companies only do the bait stations because it’s more recurring service
Plus, you never own the bait stations.
is Talstar good to use for the treatment around the perimeter like your doing?
No I would not use Talstar.
Are you spraying for subterranean or drywood termites or both
@@kingalingkaching6545Drywood. I found put after posting my questions that I have drywood, not subterranean termites. I bought Taurus SC. I guess I no longer need to dig a trench. I returned my expensive $400 sprayer. I see the termites flying around my porch lights at night and my corner flood lights
Can I buy the Taurus SC or Termidor SC from you
Did not understand how 78 Oz ok for 204 Linear ft ..Please write for me..
Yes sure thing!…. This is all based off the label. Just requires some math
I keep finding swarmers coming in my window panel onto my floor dying in my bedroom so does that mean the colony is in my window seal?
In most cases, the colony lives in the ground, then they send the worker and swarmer termites up into the wood. so yes they could be in the wood. just verify that they are termites first
NO PPE ?? Always read the label
Thank you!
inject into the walls ...do you own it ?
Great video! Very informative
Thanks buddy! I hope my video helps you with your termite problems
@@DanTheBugMan Hi again, Im from the Philippines and its typhoon season out here now, long back last summer I have done trenching job with Termidor SC around the perimeter of my house. Will rain wash away the effectiveness of Termidor SC. It all depends on the direction of the wind so the rain sometimes hit the trenched area. Please need your advice. Ive watched some of your Tiktok videos on termites, thanks much for all your tips.
I don't doubt you, but I am curious about the effect duration of the chemical. You state in the video that this should last 10 or more years, but on the description of the product it states, KILLS ON CONTACT, WORKS UP TO 3 MONTHS:.
What about driveways/porches in front of the garage.
Just skip over the driveways. If it’s a front porch or something small treat the soil around it
Hello. Will it help if termites are on the roof?
no, this is for subterranean termites only. Drywood termites do not liver underground
how cam i treat the underground termite ,its a big mountain
Hey man love your videos can I ask a silly question
What it go under my home snd spray the floorboard for underneath extra protection yes or no ? Will be useful lol
What if termites are already in walls?
Think I should treat my parents house this summer. And better yet, you’ll help me? 👍🏼
I will gladly do it :)
Hello, I live in north texas. I have subterranean termites swarming on my hall floor, they are coming out of a wall which is right in middle of my home, they are probably coming along side plumbing in wall. So if i do this treatment would that help pls? Also I have big driveway to garage, back porch and front porch all concrete, Can i skip those areas or i should do around them or I need to drill holes.
How about bioadvanced by Bayer termite killer granules I think they called it?
My question as well. I put down the granules a month ago and thinking about reapplication in about 4 months.
Bayer is a trustworthy insecticide company. I just looked it up. I think this product could help prevent termite infestation. However, I wouldn't use it if you know you have termites. This could offer some peace of mind though to help prevent them from foraging for food around you home.
So basically if you don't have termites this will help you keep from getting them. Hope this helps.

Is Cyper TC a good termiticide?
I wouldn’t recommend cyper tc for termites. Even though it is labeled for termites, the active ingredient will only kill termites that come in contact and will not kill off the colony like other products would
same method for sand?
How does one treat overhangs, and in an attic?
No need to treat an attic area. The termite colony lives in the ground so as long as you treat the soil it will kill the colony
I treated my home with spectracide terminate termite and ant Carpenter killer concentrate it says it's a barrier treatment can I still use Taurus SC or Termidor and will it still work? I did this about 3 weeks ago
Yes go ahead and use taurus or termidor. Those other products probably did next to nothing and will have no effect on the treatment
Thank you Dan for the explanation
Here in Miami is crazy how many people has trouble with a. LOT OF DIFERENTE kinds of termites and is a frame house
Awesome I will do it even if a only see big ants around just to prevent
Onequestion ?
A lot of pro I call they says will last no more that 5 years even using termidor sc
Your suggestions about it
Great! Yeah that will kill ants also. In most cases Taurus and termidor last 10 years before they start to break down. Now that could change depending on how well the treatment was done and depending on how much water is circulating through the soil
They always use the phrase "up to" because it always depends on something.
PPE comments. Chill the dude been around this stuff his whole life. He handled the product well imo even without proper ppe.
