Review of Ropes for SRS/SRT for Arborists & Tree Climbers!

  • In this video I will go over my six favorite ropes for SRS/SRT tree climbing! Stay tuned until the very end because I have added a new segment where I show all the work that goes into preparing for my video shoots. I also had to write a script for this video, which is unusual for me. However, due to the large number of specifications for each ropes, it seemed preferable to spending days memorizing the details! I hope you enjoy this video and, as always, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask!

    Great info on this vlog. I would be interested to know your thoughts regarding one single rope but with high capabilities for use on both SRS and Double Rope system. In other words can be used with mechanical devices, good knot ability, holds it shape well, good overall thickness and partially static etc etc. Your personal recommendation/view would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

      I would highly recommend the Teufelberger "Drenaline" 11.8mm rope. It is actually the fourth rope shown in this video! It was actually designed to be ideal for climbers who use both SRS and MRS (doubled rope). It's probably my favorite rope of all time.

    I had one of these myself. And the Drenaline really transitions well into DRT which is nice. This was very informational. And I appreciate you making it man. Thanks

      Not a problem! You're very welcome! I do my best to make my videos both informational and helpful. Drenaline is definitely an excellent rope and it was designed to be an all purpose rope for both SRS and MRS. It succeeded! Thank you for commenting! I appreciate it! =-D

    Thanks great video very helpful information, just what I was looking for.
    Now for a question..? If u could only afford to buy one of these ropes to use with a rope runner pro which one would it be…???

      I love my 11.8mm Teufelberger Drenaline for my Rope Runner Pro. But an even better rope is the 11.7mm Teufelberger XStatic, which is braided more tightly, is more static, and holds its round shape better! But 11mm Yale Bifrost is another winner, but not a thick, so harder to rope walk with, but super static and holds its shape better than the Drenaline!

      Here is a video I made all about the Rope Runner Pro. I list all the manufacturer recommended ropes in this video: th-cam.com/video/0ZI5QcjgydA/w-d-xo.html

    I like the dreneline rope as well. I use a short length for my lanyard.👍

    Have you ever tried the non ce cougar ropes by Donaghys?

    • @Knot-orious
      @Knot-orious  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No, and I don't know a lot of people who have...but I haven't really asked around either. I have used their Armorprus hitch cords, though! They work great (8mm & 10mm).

    The mercury at 10% is 860 lbs. So its stretch is less than u might think. 1.5% at 430bs.

      You're right. With just a climber's weight on the rope, it's honestly not that bad. Thanks for making this observation.

    You've got a great voice Knoto, you've just gotta work on cadence.

    • @Knot-orious
      @Knot-orious  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the compliment! Greatly appreciated! You're also correct; I do need to work on cadence. I spend some of my free time studying other TH-camr's cadences, tones, volumes, and inflections, but it isn't always easy to replicate these things in my own videos. Just like my editing abilities, myself and my channel are steadily growing and constantly improving. =-D

    You forgot the greatest of all ropes, Tachyon!

    • @Knot-orious
      @Knot-orious  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Bro, I see you! You finally made it! Huzzah!
      Your TH-cam handle is dope! Love it! I've never used Tachyon! Is it as supple as it looks in videos? Good hand/knotability? Might not keep its roundness as much as the 48-strand super statics. But I don't want to speculate. Honestly, this may sound petty, but the main reason I've never bought a Tachyon is because the cover pattern is lame. =-D
      Don't be a stranger in these parts! I need you to keep me in check and challenge me!

    • @kavemanthewoodbutcher
      @kavemanthewoodbutcher 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Knot-orious love you bro!
      I'll be honest, I bought the Tachyon because of the sheath color. And because it's a "super static" I'll post a short for you concerning hand. Another factor was the diameter. Tachyon is on the smaller side of what the Unicender will grab, as it wears you need a larger rope. My other rope, for when the Uni gets worn, is a Sampson product, can't remember which.

      @@POVdoing I appreciate the kind and thoughtful words! I definitely hope to see my videos become more popular and reach more people who can benefit from them! I love to educate! But as much as I want to make it big for a knots & tree climbing channel, I also appreciate slower, gradual growth because I improve with each and every video! And the more I am able to grow as a TH-camr before growing as a channel, the better my odds of remaining successfull and popular will become! Thanks again! =-D
