I have 2022 Santa Fe Hybrid and put on 80000 miles on so far. Greatest car ever I drove without any problems. So smooth and convenient and reliable ~
My mom just traded her 2020 Santa Fe sport because it burned 2 Quarts every 1.5k miles. Only had 50k miles. It was ridiculous. She got a 2019 rav 4 with 17k miles. I’m happy she listened to me and got a Toyota.
@@dfsdh432v9 you lying bot 🤡🤣😂
@@i.d.6492I can believe that person I owned a 2018 sonata still do it ran thru oil but they fixed it becuase my warranty
Can it do any sore of off-road?
We’ve owned our 2024 Santa Fe Limited since February and we have absolutely zero complaints. It’s a great vehicle with a cool design.
Wow, you’ve owned it so long. I’ve owned my 2020 Acura MDX for 4 years and no complaints.
When the engine failed at 87,000km in my Hyundai Santa Fe, the staff told me they had 30 engines in the shop the previous year with same problem. Defective premature engine failure. I've also read many reports of people having a new engine put in only to have the same thing happen quickly.
The rover fe is definitely a budget friendly semi-premium option ,Hyundai is winning because they’re not afraid to take styling risks unlike other car manufacturers cool review 💯
We agree!
😂"styling risks"😂
You mean they make really ugly vehicles. Just spit it out..
@@Mike-lt6sj lol ok ok you got me but some how they’re still winning and I’m a vw fan man go figure 😆
@@Mike-lt6sjI like Toyotas but that Highlander is about as butt ugly 😂
Hyundai-Kia is winning, definitely. Hyundai-Kia surpassed Toyota sales in Canada!
I've seen the santa fe in person. It's much better. Definitely looks special (for better or for worse). On the other hand, as usual the Toyota looks kinda plain. I like how Hyundai/Kia is not afraid to take risks.
I have awd calligraphy 2024 santa fe non hybrid and giving me 30mpg. Love it
is that highway driving or mixed?
what speed are you maintaining on the highway?
@@rohitnijhawan5281 highway.of.course. hehe city drive 25mpg
@@kabisayago if you're getting 25 mpg city that is freaking phenomenal with that turbo 4 banger
the 2.4L 2021 hyundai tucson AWD is officially rated for a horrible 21 mpg
i would sometimes get 17. if you do 65mph highway speeds you might even get up to 33 mpg
I test drove the Santa Fe when it first came out, and I was blown away by the interior quality, quiet smooth ride and the overall vehicle performance. The only concern is the long term reliability of the powertrain.
See carconfections. Their new Santa fe needed a transmission after 27 miles. Now they have issues with their 2nd transmission....
My brother is driving a previous version of Santa Fe(which is using same powertrain), and it is still solid for 4years. and this new one is my family car now. much satisfied
Wait after is off warranty, you want to trade it right away. They haven’t fix their recall issues for the longest time.
@@politicalbandit3904its ok because 100 k miles / 10 years warranty sounds like awesome vs 36k. miles on the Toyotas nowadays.
Stupid people do not try to look at the product no matter how much it changes and try to evaluate it based on the brand.
My Hyundais cars engine stalled after the dealership did an engine consumption test. The crank shaft broke and now they won’t honor their warranty even though my car is still under warranty. I drove the car only 30 miles after the oil consumption test and the engine blew up. I’m so disappointed in Hyundai they don’t care
Even if I could afford to pay more for a Toyota I certainly never would. It doesn’t make any sense to buy less of a vehicle in hopes that it may last longer. That’s like marrying someone who bores you to death and your hoping you stay bored as long as possible.
🥶🥶🥶
The metaphor is awesome.
@@Idontknowwhomi I mean it’s so true. 👍
Majority of people aren't looking for fun or excitement from their family car. You know what's really not fun? Having a car breakdown in the middle of nowhere. The fancy "tech" won't help you in that scenario. That's kind of like getting cheated on by the hot exciting girl a few years into your marriage.
@@TheSeandog1234 Well it goes without saying that anyone who buys brands other than KIA, Hyundai, or Mazda in the non luxury class have taken the excitement factor right out of the equation.
What people are finding out about recent generation Toyotas and Hondas are that their legacy of superior reliability has become a thing of the past and are ending up rather disappointed.
My dad used to say the Toyotas would last forever. That was back then. My fellow MZ friends say Hyundai is the one to choose instead of Toyotas or Hondas. Certainly, time has changed and Hyundais have come a long way! In 2024 and on, Hyundais and Kias are killing it.
Times did change for sure, however your dad is still right) avoid 8 speed DCT in any Kia/Hyundai product
@@tgrigor1 Ok, whatever, man....
Today Toyota's biggest enemy are Toyota dealerships, those mark ups put their vehicles at Lexus prices.
One thing i dont understand is why the toyotas and hondas keep offering you less car for money. I mean I understand they offer reliability but that doesnt mean you keep offering 5 yr old garbage to yout cx. I mean look at toyota vehicle lineup. Most of them are just face uplift. Most of them need a long due overhaul. And kudos to Hyundai/Kia for taking the risks with their designs. They no doubt been dishing out some of the most amazing designs across their lineups.
I am a 2022 Kia owner. Kia / Hyundai good as long as the warranty covers, so they have no risk of changing design or what so ever as majority of car users don't trust them or not long term users. So you can keep doing experiments and adding useless fancy stuff. You can drive a Toyota /Honda without a major technical issue over 200K miles thanks to their old school technology. Also, it's cheaper to maintain, parts are available every corner in the world. Also the resale value is a lot higher than other brands and insurance companies do not hesitate to cover almost any Toyota or Honda. Kia /Hyundai look cheap only when you are comparing with other major players but repairs, maintenance, insurance and other costs a way higher than a Toyota. I'm telling you by experience.
@@Lankan91-ee9bm yes sir I completely agree with you. If you dont update/upgrade the models for last 10/20 yrs you dont need to build new parts so everything costs less coz your have been building same stuff for the last 10 yrs and probably would have overstock of those parts. And by the way which insurance company denies insurance on any company make models please enlighten me. On the contrary where i live the insurance on toyotas/hondas are way higher than anything else. So you are buying an already expensive vehicle + you are paying higher insurance. I would rather payout a cheaper more advance car in 5-7 years get a new one after that. I honestly dont like driving 20 yr old model just for the sake of reliability. If you like that than good for you 👍🏻. I am more of a new tech and new ride kind of a guy.
@@junaidsuhail5349 OK, I understand, you are not living in the part of the world I live, so no surprise. My answer based on the above two vehicles, the new Toyota Highlander and Santafe 2024. So if you haven’t driven or atleast not seen those cars or no idea about what those two vehicles are or no idea about how and why people buy them, no point of have a conversation with you.
As I said I am a 2022 model year Kia owner and here we change cars every 2-3 years and most of the time 40K miles on them. I dont have that problems like you have 5-7 yrs old cars😃 Kia / Hyundai offer 10 yrs or 100K miles warranty here while Toyota 2 years or 25K miles only because no need of add a lot of add-ons to sell their cars like others. You only know these stuffs if you have a capacity to afford above two vehicles. Insurance companies I am referring to the country I live due to Kia/Hyundai security issues. To FYI. I can buy either of two above at any time and we send 20 yrs old cars to scrapyards 😁
I have a Kia sportage new model and I’m very happy my 2nd Kia to all the doubters out there
Good 4 you
Kia sales in Canada, went up 26% in 2023! Kia is going to take over Canada!
We have owned 6 Kia’s and all have been excellent!! That’s why we keep buying them I have owned Toyota the Kias are just as reliable in fact in my case the Kia’s have given less issues than the Toyota Camry I owned
Ive owned lots 0f Toyota vehicles and a Sorento SX for years too .. To be honest i had less issues with my Kia than my Tacoma amd 4Runner.. It had a 6 cylinder and 29 mpg hwy .. Hyundai/ Kia have come along way .. The Hilander looks garbage with the outdated bloated Toyota design ..Thank Gawd they are moving away from this heinous look.. SF , all the way !
Santa Fe looks much better
santa fe hybrid will have better fuel economy in real world than highlander just like the sonata hybrid vs camry, prius prime vs niro phev, etc. toyota epa numbers are always too optimistic
same for hyundai at garrage
I would lease the Hyundai personally until I’m sure these aren’t bad long term, but what they were able to do for the price is insane. Interested to see what they do with the next palisade, because this Santa Fe is really impressive
if you can wait, I'd wait for new palisade. That's what I am doing. Not that new SF is bad.. but new Palisade is getting a facelift and its interior might be better than new SF
You forgot to mention that if you’re in the 3rd row you can recline the chair back if you want to be more comfortable. We love our 2024 Santa Fe Caligraphy.
The toyota is the equivalent of a boomer trying to use a new smartphone and keep up with evolving tech and style.
Damn thats deep
And what are you grasshopper?
❤Toyota looks so old and out dated design.
Amazing Review Sam! Loved the way you used your equipment boxes to show the space in trunk, that definitely puts a picture to the Cargo Space numbers 7:13 . I was very surprised that almost 60k toyota car still uses prop rods under the hood, these little things really adds to over all customer experience. Toyota should stop cutting costs and add more value added convenience features for customers in my opinion not to mention the outdated tech.
Thanks a ton!
It is what I neeed! THank you very much for this comparison.
Glad it was helpful!
If Hyundai takes more effort long term reliability like Toyota it be game changer for Hyundai.
Most people keep their cars for 3-4 years which means you are under warranty. So it really doesn’t matter. I still see so many Hyundais on the road.
Hyundai-Kia is reliable.
They matched Toyota's Canada sales.
Surpassed Stellantis and American Honda in USA sales.
Are world's 3rd largest automaker.
Hyundai-Kia will be #1. Nobody can stop Hyundai-Kia!
Yes, Toyota is more reliable than Land Rover.
Land Rover's warranty is 4-year 50,000-mile. Toyota's warranty is 5-year 60,000-mile.
But Toyota is not much more reliable than Jeep, GM, Ford. Because their warranty is also 5-year 60,000-mile. In contrast, Hyundai-Kia comes with legendary 10-year 100,000-mile warranty! Twice the warranty, twice the reliability!
@@SamCarLegion average length of ownership in US is 12.5yr in a 2023 S&P Global Mobility study. IDK where you got your 3-4yr information from.

151000km is nothing. Talk to us when you’re at 300k
@Hernsama I am not going to drive it for another 8 years mate.
150 k is a good indication of reliability. Especially that I tow 2500 lb boat with it. I do maintenance that exceeds recommended standards so I don't see why I shouldn't get another 100 k without engine/transmission repairs.
@@Hernsama But he is right, hyundai turbo engine are absolute garbage reliability and durability wise.It has been proven so many times.
The Hyundai-Kia powertrain comes with legendary 10-year 100,000-mile warranty. There is nothing to worry about. Best the competition do is 5-year 60,000-mile. That is pathetic and insulting. They
CANNOT guarantee that their powetrain can last more than 5 year or 60,000 miles! They are admitting that their powertrain is junk! 😂😂
@@HernsamaBut your junk only comes with 60,000-mile warranty 😂
Hi Sam, thank you for the comparison review. Santa Fe is a clear winner here for me too.
Thanks for watching!
At the end of the day is a Toyota is Toyata, you can’t go wrong with it.
Excellent presentation as always Sam. Love your videos, very detailed, very objective and points the features the consumers needs. The photography is excellent, top notch videography. Please do more comparisons. Love to see this Santa Fee against VW Atlas or other models. Please less drag race, normal street driving, handling potholes and snow or passing a tractor trailer on the HWY 400 or 401 is what matters to the consumers. Thanks for all your hard work
Very good review. Just bought one.
Was going to get a 2025 4runner but decided against it. Then we were thinking of getting the Nissan Pathfinder, even test drove one. Just for fun we decided to check the Hyundai dealership. Pretty sure we're going to buy the Santa Fe. Trading in our 2020 Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro. Nothing wrong with the Sequoia, just looking to downsize.
I’d rather have 18” wheels instead of 21”. Softer ride, cheaper to replace, More sidewall protection from curb rash, and pothole damage.
I wish companies would do durability engine or vehicle comparison tests to see how long they last and what issues they have.
They all would fail at some point on somey
The outward visibility seems to be MUCH better in the Santa Fe.. This is important for safe driving and driving enjoyment..
SF has a mechanical AWD
Tech wise I can agree the rover fe is better but long term durability when the hell has Hyundai ever made reliable cars 😂😂😂
I know many owners of Hyundai with over 200k miles without issues.
More headroom in the santa fe especially 3rd row which is suitable for adults also
If I were looking for a 3-row, I would consider this only if I were going for the hybrid offering. Hyundai Should stop putting DCT in their vehicles.
Hyundai-Kia know what customers want. That's why Hyundai-Kia doubled USA sales in only 20 years to surpass Stellantis and American Honda. Test drive it, if in doubt.
@@JohnLee-tb3nh Have you personally worked on Hyundai wet DCT? If so, you'd know that vehicle like this doesn't need wet DCT in term of reliability and serviceability.
i think New Kia Sorento looks better even Telluride looks better than Palisade 🎉 but definitely Hyundai more luxurious
One is marriage material and the other is exciting for the moment. Sadly a lot of people will get fooled by a catchy exterior.
Design wise Hyundai design better than Japanese design
outperforms HL in just being fancy, i would not get the SF if i were told to get one of them as my last car till i lived, unless i was paid by hyundai!!
Still, I'll get the Highlander.
Like the overall look of the Sante Fe. The copper color might looked dated after a few years.
would be perfect if they didn’t place the tail lights so low
Mmmm good thinking
The Santa Fe is a superior vehicle in a lot of ways. Of course, the reliability comes into play. However, if you lease like I do, then that's not a factor. Any vehicle going to last 3 years. The styling is very cool for the Santa Fe, a winner for me.
Good point there. Leasing is the best
Love Rover Fe!
My Tucson’s engine just blew at 120k miles. This is after the transmission was toast at 99k miles. They honored it under their warranty for the transmission but it’s not looking good with the engine.
My 96 Toyota truck going strong with 216k miles
My 84 and 82 Land Cruiser going strong at 150k and 230k respectively.
I hope Hyundai makes it right. If not, I love the Santa Fe but may have to go Grand Highlander and stick with Toyota.
The back of Santa Fe needs a midcircle refresh, other than that it's a very good looking Land Rover copy

Hyundai Sante Fe 🤎. I'm a Muslim from Indonesia 🕋 🇮🇩. Thank you for your video 🙏🏻.
ENOUGH with the reliability. H has a MUCH better warranty in Canada and the USA. H has stepped up hugely in features, comfort, materials and look. T is sitting on their LAURELS for over 10 years. The DCT had one big failure with Car Confections and suddenly ALL DCTS are bad. Cmon guys. Last Gen was DCT was fine...This one will be as well...AND...way more fun to drive. Quick shifts and brings back fun in driving. That 2.5 is a proven engine used all over the place as well as a Base Genesis G80 at 25 K more cash. Porsche and Corvette have DCTs. They are PROVEN. Its a wet clutch 8 speed that is constantly lubricated and will be fine.
Besides MOST new car buyers will trade it after 5 years and buy another and let the used car market figure it out. I dont drive a new vehicle for 10 years. Too much new tech every year. 3 YR Vehicle dependability studies (JD Power) on H and T say they are virtually TIED now in reliability. Facts are stubborn things. They dont lie. Toyota recalled 1.000 000 Rav 4 Transmissions last year...every brand has issues...
I have owned a G70 (All H parts) for 5 full years. NOT one issue....This Santa Fe is a game changer in comfort and features when you compare apples to apples.
The world is changing...just many folks dont want to admit it.
Santa Fe or Mazda cx70?? This is a great comparison. Utility vs fun 🤔
CX70
This highlander model and design is over a decade old, yet Toyota increased its pricing of around $800 yearly/avg. My money easily goes to the Santa Fe.
I think a better comparison would have been with the Toyota Grand Highlander as it would have been apples to apples.

The Santa Fe looks really cool. A big upgrade from the previous generation. Only thing I would change is to bring the tail lights a little higher up. Looks wise I would take it over the Highlander, but not sure on its reliability.
I believe Highlander sits quite high on driver side than Santa Fe ?
Yes

Just picked up my new Santa Fe Hybrid, and while the ride is smooth, there are some features missing that left me disappointed. The reviews showcasing all those bells and whistles? Most likely focused on the top-of-the-line Calligraphy edition. I went with a more budget-friendly hybrid trim (SE or SEL), and it's lacking in some creature comforts I expected. Here's a glimpse of what I found lacking:
Limited Storage: Finding decent-sized compartments for everyday items proved tricky.
Manual Passenger Seat: The passenger seat lacks power adjustments, which can be a drawback for some.
No Panoramic Views: Forget the sunroof or a fancy glass roof - this trim level doesn't offer them.
Glove Compartment Shortcomings: The glove compartment itself is tiny, and the additional compartment above it barely fits your hand.
Limited Cargo Visibility: The lights in the back don't provide enough illumination to see things clearly when looking through the rear hatch.
Missing Essentials: To my surprise, even basic floor mats weren't included in this trim level.
Sunglass Struggle: There wasn't even a dedicated drop-down compartment for sunglasses, something even my older 2012 Pilot had!
And More: These are just a few of the inconveniences I noticed. There are many more features that make this base trim feel a bit lacking compared to the higher-end options, or even some older cars.
Lesson Learned: Definitely do your research on the specific Santa Fe trim level's features before buying, including even seemingly standard items like floor mats and sunglass holders. Hopefully, this heads-up helps others avoid a similar surprise!
Can you race the Santa Fe 2024 vs Sorento 2024 😊
In the U.S. the Highlander is a better choice because it holds value more, reliable and more robust over a longer period

The Santa Fe wins until your transmission fails for the 2nd time and you have to pay out of pocket for rentals and fight Kia/Hyundai corporate. Not worth the headaches
I've owned both. A 2013 SF and 2017 Highlander. Toyota is hard to beat for long term reliability and resale value, especially in hybrid trim. In Ontario, get a quote from your insurance agent. The Highlander is a high theft vehicle and rates have gone way up. I'd go SF if you want a fun date, I'd go Highlander if your picking someone to marry.
That’s another issue too - high risk of theft and high insurance
@@SamCarLegion Not to mention Highlander wait times in Ontario are a limiting factor.

I've heard about major issues with the New Sante Fe transmissions failing. Hope Hyundai gets it figured out.
Highlander is due for refresh. Also Highlander is way more reliable and will hold its value
Eh not anymore
You pay like 6k more before tax and get less, so the value is already not there.
Have you checked out the 2025 Highlander? I think it’s probably the worst redesign in history. I actually think the current Highlander is rather attractive for a Toyota product. The new one looks like something from 15 years ago. Sales are going to drop hard once that hits the market.
wait for the recalls on the highlander
I have a '23 Tahoe, and my wife has a '24 Palisade. The Palisade has Nappa leather, auto brake hold, rear sun screens, acoustic glass on first and second row windows and massaging driver's seat. My Tahoe has nothing like that. And now my Tahoe is having transmission issues, while the Palisade runs like clockwork. We don't do high miles so we're not concerned about the engine exploding before 100K. Plus she'll only keep her car for 3 years. GM needs to start putting more things in their cars for the money they charge. I know this is not a GM comparison, but my point is, Hyundai gives a lot of bang for the buck.
Santa Fe is GORGEOUS ! But I bet it depreciates a LOT more than the Highlander...
Every car depreciates
hyundai santa fe compete with honda passport ford edge Kia Sorento

The Santa Fe is clearly the best option. You can get even a new transmission every year or so considering how fast it breaks😂

누가봐도 싼타페 승!!!!
My immediate thought is longevity, the hood part is a good example - it's such a small sample but to me, it probably plays out throughout the entire lifetime of both vehicles, that Toyota will probably last many years longer than that Hyundai (and with much less repairs and maintenance). Using the hood part as an example, I'll bet those hood struts start pooping out after 3 or 4 years and the hood latch probably has a recall in 2 yrs hehe.
Good analysis there
Wow can you tell how the stock market will do in 2-3 years?
Dude not everyone wants a big tail gate.......... I have a Kluger/Highlander.......... it's perfect, if I had that other car the boot wouldn't open with my garage door shut like my Kluger can. Silly........

So the Hyundai dealer provides the vehicle so your choice is already bias
Thats pretty stupid to say. What do you say to youtuber/journalists that get pampered on first drive by the OEM? What about all the other TH-camrs that get cars from dealers? You have trust issues.
With all respect to Koreans for they offered features but Toyota loved for they reliabilities!))
