Blaupunkt Derby 691 radio (made in W Germany, circa 1969-70)

Got this radio here full of dirt but still working. Biggest headache with it was the cleaning, those vertical grills on the front panel aren't too easy to clean. Anyways, I also replaced all the electrolytic capacitors, straightened the antenna and re-installed the loose tone potentiometer. The battery cover was loose, the hinge broken, so I had to drill a hole and put a screw in it. I've extended the FM band up to something around 107 MHz. I've also added the LED lights for the dial. They are always on but consume little, something around 15 mA. This radio is one of the many models in the "Derby" family which were made during the 60s and 70s. As such it has more or less the same reception characteristics and also the same 10 cm Blaupunkt speaker that most of them had. The sound quality is good, the radio can get really loud, but is kinda missing the bass. Overall, it is a good quality radio, from the mid-price tier of that era, definitely worth collecting.
