    Shelby looks SO smooth and at ease every time she runs. Forever wishing I had her biomechanics and powerful stride. haha

      Glad to see Shelby not give up and still putting the work in after everything that happened with her in the last year. Things don’t always pan out the way we intend but it’s important to keep on keeping on. Nvr give up 👊🏼

    That made me so excited for the track season!!! We're still doing strength so it's only been hill workouts lately. I can't wait till I can get a nice interval session on the track.

    Hey gwen I really like your spirit you have battle back from injury and you know how hard Trac and Field and Marathons can be. Especially on your confidence in yourself. I love to compete like you but it gets intense and really breaks you down mentally. Have been battling it for several years. I guess i am good enough runner where no one wants to train with me but the isolation kills my confidence. Got a race coming up but this one guy who is ranked 3rd in his age group at nationals and set a world record keeps coming up to me and says stuff to get me off my confidence. Like he owns me and you must be out here for the run and thanks for coming out dude.. Even when I ask him to run the 2 mile with him after he beat me at the 800. He said thats not my distance. Even though he runs the 2 mile every year. I was injured and had kidney stones when he beat me but he is a handful. I am thinking about skipping that meet and go to this walk on meet the next day. I just want to avoid all that head stuff. I just wanted to know if this happens to you in races cause in the mens races there is a lot of taunting and head games.

      Hello friend!
      One big lesson in life is to just completely ignore any such moron, and focus on doing your own thing optimally!
      IMHO, longer distances (marathon, 100k, 100miles) become more casual and ``familial''.
      Get well soon, and let's wait on what the Hero has to say..

    I thought I was rocking it hard with a 7-miler under 60 flat at 45% effort but these ladies...wow, just wow. I tip my hat off to you guys! 5:15-ish for the first 4 miles, then 2:22 for the 800, then between 69-72 for the 400s? Time to hit the track...

    Pat' is the best cook in the Universe!!
    Inspirational: I'll schedule the same session in a pair of weeks, same speed, but sea level.
    What a strong group, and you guys were flying, and at 8500ft!!!!
    -> Take good care of your Achilles, it's best to skip one tough session if you feel the pain coming back.

    Great job! This is the pace they will need to run for the marathon in order to be Olympic champion level (2:20:30 marathon pace is 5:20 per 1600m). Good work with a workout at a super ridiculously fast marathon pace.

  • @theduckrunner5164
    @theduckrunner5164 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    however route you choose to train is great - I really want to see you on your second USA Olympic team - I think you're one of the few elite runners who actually "get it" - while many elites seem to "go into hiding" {because God forbid someone might see how they're training!}{likened to a football team stealing another team's playbook LOL}, you on the other hand relate to your fans and even correspond with them. You show the world exactly how you're training and I really really appreciate that. Because of athletes like you, perhaps there's hope that track and field can become a mainstream sport. You are part of a movement that gets people off the sofa and outside. Because of your triathlon background, you have special insight to the 3 sports Americans can choose to get off said sofa. And I know it's almost 4 years late, but congrats on your 2016 GOLD. !!!!

    Track Hack, that is the best phrase I have heard to describe it. You can hear it at many track workouts. My doctor is treating it as asthma. I don't believe mine is caused by running, more like hereditary. I also think that dry air at altitude makes it more pronounced.

    • @theduckrunner5164
      @theduckrunner5164 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not coming on here bragging about anything - I once coached a group of HS runners as a "defacto stealth" coach {because the lady coach would suck on her Virginia Slims telling the runners "OK you guys go train and she'd continue polishing off the slims while the guys begged me to coach them and I told them to keep it a secrect} and I had a guy who was stuck at 5:10 for the 1mile and in less than 4 months I coached him to a PB of 4:36 - I've studied this sport since 1978 and the biggest conclusion I've come to is the best conditions to train is "sea level" with lots of hills - that will make you the best runner you can - this narrative of extra blood cells {from altitude not beet root juice} giving you some magical boost just simply doesn't prove itself in actual real time results - it's like a driver of a hybrid/electric car going down a steep mountain thinking he's going to get a "million" watts of regen braking - there's only one problem - the motor generators can only charge a limited amount of watts otherwise the system would overheat and self destruct - in the case of the runner as in the case of the Hyb/elec car, you have to abide by the law of thermodynamics & conversion of energy -

    Maybe tryout measuring blood lactate levels in between reps for middle to short distance intervals. If blood lactate levels get too high you can slow the interval time by a few seconds so the quality doesn’t suffer.. got this idea from the ingebrigtsen brothers

    very impressive clockings at "altitude" - I'd be impressed if those were sea level times -good job - keep up the good work - the only "negative" I have is I don't like seeing distance runners "filmed" in slow motion - it's bad enough when TV coverage of distance races gives the illusion that elite runners are merely jogging - actual runners know they're actually going FAST, but because of the clueless cameramen, the angles they shoot from make the athletes seem slow and the casual viewer is not impressed - there were a few times I saw on You Tube where the cameraman shot Jakob at the PERFECT angle and I darn near had tears, because FINALLY we got to view how fast this dude is running the mile or 5000. So my request {if you should accept} is to experiment at different camera angles to give the viewer the greatest sense of speed - let's save slow moe for NFL & MLB replays
