Thank you for linking the next short here, so handy! Great vids 😊
I have patio doors that leave to the backyard of my new house. There is no fence so the neighbors in back will actually be able to see into the room. Can you make a video with some suggestions on how to add privacy to those doors without adding vertical blinds?
Finally a ytuber who actually links the next video
I can’t open the link?
😂 can't open the link
I did this in my living room as the large window looks out to my next door neighbors house ten feet away... It has stayed for 20 years with occasional touch up... Your bathroom window looks great!
Thank you! 20 years is great reassurance! That’s insane
Pretty bright deciding to live in a house 10ft from a neighbor..
@@shawnhenderson1130 lol have you never heard of a town house? Get a grip
I've read several reviews that it won't come off windows and doors. I rent an apartment and I want to spray my bedroom window but now I'm scared. Have you tried removing this at all?
@@LaughingLaptops there are frosted sheets that you can stick to your window, you just cut to size and they’re removable.
Just for anyone wondering. If you decide you do not like the frost anymore, it comes off extremely easily with acetone and oil based cleaners.
Thank you! We're renters and were wondering if there was even a way to take it off 😅
A razor blade works well
Thank youuuuu my bf rents a basement suit and his front doors are basically all window and he always forgets to close the blinds and that makes his family think thats an open invitation to just walk in without knocking
Thank you! I was literally just wondering that and hoping some kind person might have said so in the comments!
Thank you because I’m renting
If I recall it's not easy to scrape off, you can also buy frosted glass effect film, it's usually with the self adhesive films like fablon, they also make a stained glass version too
Someone told me acetone will remove it instantly
@@theyorks is there nothing acetone won't strip?! Lol seems worth trying then, my hall window could use a frosting!
It comes of really easily with a razor blade.
@@theyorks I wonder if it strips the paint too though, might be a good idea to do a test on a picture frame or something. Frost the picture frame glass then see if it comes off
@@bertiesgirl1 I wonder if it strips the paint too though, might be a good idea to do a test on a painted picture frame or something. Frost the picture frame glass then see if it comes off, and whether or not it affects the paint.
There are frosted sheets that you can cut to fit any window which looks great and cheaper.
I had a similar situation and found this sticker film online that almost looked like a kaleidoscope. It was like stained glass uncolored until the sun would shine through it and create rainbows around my bathroom. I love it so much!
I did the same on my bathroom window. So much light now and not chemicals. And can feel right off
I found the same with different rainbow designs!
Ooh, do you remember what the brand was??
there is one on "amaze on" (it deletes my comment if I spell it correctly lol) by rabbitgoo. Just type in rainbow privacy window film.
Do you know what it’s called ? :)
They also make a contact paper that does the same thing for a little less 5 or 6 bucks.
I have a renter friendly vinyl on my windows in my room. It's an iridescent leaf design. It filters the light, and gives me so much privacy. I think it's a little more aesthetically pleasing than the frosted glass, but anything is better than nothing.
That’s so pretty 🤩
That’s what I want but my husband likes the blinds. 😩😩😩
Do you remember what it’s called ? I want something iridescent for my window , that sounds so pretty !
Where did you find it? Name of product?
I think it's called privacy film?
Works on those long skinny glass sections that someone thought were a "good idea" to put on Ur FRONT DOOR!!.... LOL ✌️❤️😎👍
Let me know if you want to see from outside looking in. I will update how it holds up. So far IMPRESSED 👏
I'm considering this for my bathroom! We definitely need an outside looking in peak.
I do!
My mom had gotten me frosted Contact brand adhesive paper in the '80's when I left home for my bathroom. I still buy this 40 years later. I'm willing to try your idea!
Thank you for sharing!
Definitely
Yes please
Of course!
hey just a heads up about frosted bathroom windows, people cant see you clearly but they can see your silhouette from the outside. especially at night. theyre more revealing than people think
Were U ever caught?
@@kq2799 You don't need to be caught. I walked to our apartment dumpster. Neighbor's bathroom frosted window right there. What I saw made me cover my bathroom window fast. If you're in an apartment like mine all you do is walk by and see accidentally.
Perfect. I would love to see it from the outside and at night with the lights on, Please.
It’s posted right after this video on my page with lights on and at night 😉
It holds up! I did this to large bathroom windows and I tried to peek inside while my husband was taking a shower 😁 couldn't see a thing!
When it gets dusty, will it be gone when we wipe it? Gently of course
@@jessicacalderon-rico89aha, imagine if your neighbor caught you looking in your own window!
...with someone inside standing in front of the window so we can see if someone can see through the window.
Window film works and doesn’t stay stuck to your window. Just water and a scrapper to apply and just peels off if you change your mind or move. Comes in different colors and designs too
The best test. Look from the outside at night with the bathroom light on and someone standing in front of the window doing something like taking off a top w a side profile. That would be a best test. Because even silhouette of a person is a revealing picture.
I was waiting for someone to point this out.
It doesnt even have to be at night with lights on. It is not as private as it seems. The only thing That actually ensures privacy is anything that is large and seethrough enough to block the entire window.
Why? For 8 years I lived in an apartment where I had a window right in my shower which I covered with one of those films. I found out after moving out that you could liverally see everything, depending on how the light comes through. 🤷🏽♀️
My parents' neighbors frosted their bathroom window. They had to let the neighbors know that they could still see more than anyone wanted at night.
I couldn’t reach the outside of my window cus of the way the house is and the plants/ pipes/ electrical whatever. Sooo I did the frosted film they sell on the inside. And if you’ve ever tinted car windows it’s the same process. and I sucked at it! But it works!
Window clings work really well also! And you have the benefit of being able to change with themes or seasonally.
My solution was tissue paper spread into damp glass. It dried in place and lasted for years. To remove it, I just used a spray bottle to wet the paper, and wiped it off.
maybe in a dry climate id have paper mache by morning
They make peel and stick privacy glass with different designs at Lowe's that u can remove when you move out!
Looks so amazing 👏
I did my daughter's bedroom window which is at the front of the house. we used suncatcher paint and stencils to make designs on the window. had a lot of fun with her doing it
Maybe you can also try mirror glass sticker. That make you can see outside but someone outside can't see in because from the outside it will look like a mirror.
I like using the stick on vinyl faux stain glass. Provides tons of privacy and easy to install and remove and looks pretty real
Can you still see out the window?
@@juanitam1841 no you cannot
Fyi no matter how good the frosted glass is, if it's dark outside and bright inside people will be able to see inside with very little difficulty. Test it out yourself by looking at the window once it's really dark out and getting someone to stand inside with the lights on and you'll see what I mean.
Some options would to be to do both blinds and frosted, so you can still let the natural light come in in the daytime, or to have a much, *much* dimmer light option to use at night.
They have frosted film too! I love that stuff!! No over spray!
I used water stick privacidad filmación and loved it.
Frosted shelf liner is a better way to go imo and looks the same, also even less expensive. It holds up really well.. and if you ever change your mind down the road it's easily removable and doesn't affect resale value. Also allowed if you are in a rental unit.
That’s super amazing🤩 nice✨🫶🏼
I’ve used this on all of my lower windows and glass storm door to keep the dogs from seeing and barking at everything and everyone that walks past our house. This stuff is awesome! It’s much cheaper than the glass looking vinyl film and it lasts longer.
You can go to a rv dealer the sell a film also you can use
I used the privacy window film for our windows. Suuuuper easy to use and I imagine will be equally easy to remove . Purchased off Amazon and it was about $12.
I sprayed that in my 2 upper windows above my shower because my main bathroom is right off my front deck. We love it. Private but lets in light 😊
The spray is great but for large surfaces it can get blotchy. It's also a bit tricky to remove from what I hear.
You can also affix some frosted film that sticks with just water. You can even get patterned film. You can remove it whenever you want and there's absolutely no mess.
(try it with a plastic bag - I once cut out a pretty picture from a plastic shopping bag (the thicker type) and stuck it on my fridge with water. It lasted for years!
The adhesive film is better.
They also have window film...which is way easier to clean off. I mean if you own the house it's all good, but for those that rent...they have different types of window film.
Window film is not private at night, the frosted actually provides more privacy.
@@IMOO1896 that's what I was talking about...in general...they can pick what type of window film they want...come in all types and levels of coverage
Been using this product for 30 years, it's great. You can also use stencils to put nice designs on windows if you don't need completely opaque glass!
There's also frosted glass on a roll that's removable.....I'm not talking about your normal sticky opaque plastic....this is thicker and designed for windows and removes easily. It comes in two types, regular opaque and then opaque with triangle patterns on it. Let's light in but keeps you private.
You can also use a stencil overlay and put a design on it.
Watching you shave the paint was wildly satisfying and way too fast. ☺️ What a cool find!
What a great idea
We used a peel n stick frost sheet so it was easier to remove when it was time to move. I want to get the rainbow frost for my living room window now lol
I would put the stain glass film on it. My is wonderful and when sun shines through it’s beautiful
I used a window cling that has flowers on it you can cut it to fit and its cheap too! But spray looks good too!
Rainbow glass film works great too and is super pretty in the sun
This is a great idea! We have no bathroom vent to clear out the steam so the window has to be open all the time. The only problem is, the window is IN the shower, and it opens from the bottom (like most windows). Becomes a pain to be opening/closing &pulling the blinds all the time. When I replace it, I’m going to have it open from the top, PLUS do this nice little frosted window trick so we can comfortably have the window open to let the steam out and not accidentally flash our neighbours 😅
I used this on my front door about 6 years ago. Only one tiny spot has chipped off in 6 yrs. Highly recommend it
Looks good. There's also peel & stick that is in many designs for this too. Frosted, stainless glass look,& tons more
I actually enjoyed how giddy she got when she got the stuff. People should always be this happy.
I did this a few years ago for my garage window. It is cheap and looks great!
I want to try it in the garage I think that’s a great idea!
They make film. It comes in all different pretty patterns.
It's a nice product. I applied it 20 odd years ago, and it worked great. Really easy, totally beginners friendly.
Only thing with that is that you can see your silhouette from the outside. That’s how my last apartment bathroom was and I felt uncomfortable in the shower so I covered it
I find it so fun to listen to your discovery! We used this stuff maybe 40 years ago? When I was a kid. Maybe 50?
Yes please!
Show us the view from inside and from outside, and in daytime.
And with bathroom lights on vs lights off.
It just looks like frosted glass. You can’t see through it at all. I’ve used this stuff and it works great. It lets the light in and nobody can see anything.
We used to use Frosted Glass sprayed over Christmas cut out stencils on our windows at Christmas time. A person could make their own stencils too.
I remember doing this as a kid in the 60's. Mom bought Glass Wax and at Christmas time the company would offer stencils of santa, snowmen, etc. All she had to do was send them a postcard with the request and our address. No money involved. In approximately 2 weeks, we'd have a big envelope of stencils and a few suggestions on how to lay out villages on the windows. Mom would get out the tape, a saucer of Glass Wax and a few pieces of sponge. We'd spend a few hours playing with that.
Great thing was, mom said AL she needed was a squiggie to take the images off.
@@rosemarypaul6093
That's when we were doing them as well. In the 60's into the 70's. :-)
I used that in my bathroom for over 14 years. You have to reapply after cleaning but you don't have to clean too often.
This is genius! I have a window in my family room that’s in our door that I have been trying to figure out what to do with for years and we are going to do this today. Thank you!
I hope you realized how awful and idea this was before doing it.
@@alysafleisher we just ended up using the film that you put up and it worked great it’s been there for a while now.
Spray it on the outside of your window. It will produce the same frost. But then, you don't have to deal with ventilation of residue and overspray on your tiles and wall. Yes, I know she's wearing a mask. But it takes a long time to clear out the residue from the vapor, after application.
This spray is a GREAT INVENTION
It is ! 🤩
I used this on my bathroom window for the same reason - our bathroom is small & didn’t want bulky curtains or blinds. It’s been almost three years & I’m only just now feeling like I might need to do some touch ups to it. Def love it!
How about the silloutte?will it look transparent in daylight and night with lamp?
Transparent shelf liner lol
$1 at the dollar store, just cut to size and smooth it on with a credit card. Comes off super clean and fast.
It doesn't fall off?
Nope. Works great, peels off easily but stays in place without drama.
I'm excited....my bedroom looks out to my neighbors houses and I'm soooo getting this, thank you 🙏
We used this in our shower window, worked like a charm, lived there 7 years, held up the whole time!
I did this in my living room, in these old apartments I used to live in. Worked great 🙌🏻
cute! i used fabric and cornstarch on my windows, but i might integrate a few frosted panes in there too
I’ve used this stuff to make mason jars have a frosted effect. As long as you’re careful, it should hold up perfectly for a really long time.
In my case, I only had issues when I was transporting jars and 2 rubbed up against each other, so there was a little wear there and the finish rubbed off a little, but that was my fault for not wrapping them individually prior to transporting.
Outside please 🙏🏼
Ok 😊
You can also use the rolls of frosted window products that you cut to fit in the panels. It comes in a variety of patterns and some also have a stained glass look. I used that for my back door instead of curtains
the bathroom window in my last rental already had a bit of wood in the lower half, so no one looking in could see anything below my head. Though if you want the neighbours to stop looking in, do what then BF did when he showered. The neighbour looked in, he looked him right in the eye, grinned and moved his arm like he was handling himself. Neighbour stopped looking.
LMFAOOOO
I would look even more!!!!! ❤️
Sorry, I just don't think this is funny. Kinda gross, REALLY. 🙏
I put this on the giant center window on my west facing front door. It was amazing for diffusing the sunlight during sunset !
When I was young my childhood house had a frosted glass window in the bathroom. One winter I thought the window had frosted over and so I took my nail and wrote my name in it. My dad was so upset and came to me and said "why did you ruin the window?" I was so confused how he knew it was me 😂 10 years later my name is still on that window
That’s a nice story! Thanks for sharing 😊 put a smile on my face
Interesting .. Did not know this product exists .. Love finding out about different products ..
We want the window exposed, not our buns exposed 🤣
😂 that should be a commercial for them
You can also use removable contact paper.
They sell a peel off frost with beautiful designs online
Sea Glass Spray Paint & Mirror Spray Paint is cool to try as well. We did the carriage doors that go out to the patio area with Sea Glass. I'm doing the bathroom in Mirror.
This is a neat thing! But my personal gripe is still IF you can still see colours even through that thick fog, then I better still use blinds on top of it, or more coatings!!!
I did just that. I love it. Did it to my kitchen windows. Total privacy 😁
i’ve always had this in my bathroom and i recommend still having curtains. my bathroom gets really hot and if i’d like to open the window then i know i’m still somewhat covered by my curtains. i love how you did this on you’re own
We use this for our garage windows! Works great if you have a garage door with regular windows that don’t have tint and people can see in. You can also use the one that is more of a thick white covering that gives the look of fake snow
Wow that's great!!, yes please let us see 👀 from the outside. Thanks for the tip
Yes, I use it for my front door.
I have used this! It's fantastic! Just lightly dust it off to clean because it will wipe of with harder wiping.
I used the mirror look spray. While stil wet lightly spritz the glass with vinegar. The finish looks like antiqued glass. Turned out awesome!
I used this on the window to the door to my mom’s laundry room and the window above her front door. For her laundry room door, I used peel and stick vinyl stickers and sprayed the door and for her front door, I used painters tape to make a stencil of her last initial and then sprayed around it and it made a beautiful frosted window.
I have this in my washroom window and it's great. Easy to remove or touch up.
I've used this for years. I used blue tape and did a diamond pattern on my patio doors. It's great. You can wash it off with windex.
We used this on an awkward kitchen side door in our apartment. Best idea. Also my orchid really loves the diffused light that comes through. Gave me three babies .😊
That is so cool!
I did it from outside so inside easy to clean
Looks good! My cousin and I were roommates for a few years and we had a window like this in our shower! We used those restickable window clings. They were clear but frosted/blurry so you had privacy but still enjoyed the light that came in. Those things were so handy through the house! We had the clear and some that looked like stained glass in our back living room that we moved around the house when we felt like it. I loved those things!
The plastic vinyl stuff is also super easy to apply and comes off very easily. You can even reuse it on other windows later if you take good care of it. I have rice paper patterned in my master, my kids have rainbow stained glass, and my bathrooms have frosted.
I need to get this product for privacy issues on the first floor of my home. Bathroom and living-room windows are first to get tried on. Doug❤️👍😁
Bubble wrap works great too!
This is great, i remember my dad doing this and using a fancy stencil to create a pattern in the glass. Brilliant video, looks lovely 😃
This helps so much for people who suffer from allergies 💗
Elmers glue with corn starch always worked wonders plus it’s peelable and you can add dye to it for stained glass effects
Thank you you have solved one of my problems in life ❤
I've used white school glue (Elmer'a) on a bathroom window once. I smooshed it around making drips of glue on top of the glue to make an icicle looking effect. Lasted for years! When it did finally start to peal, it was like peeling off a sunburn... and was replaced with glow in the dark glue.. even cooler looking! Much love from Oklahoma!
You can also buy frosted vinyl-either plain frost or with designs. It goes on easy and comes off just as easily 😉. You can paint your window with watercolor paint... There's all kinds of things you can do.
That stuff is awesome!! I’m used it years ago when I lived in an apartment. Love it!!!
Used it on my front door! Best thing I ever did
Been using for 15 years. Great for privacy.
