    just got looking into houdini after doing a little bit in blender, thanks for the tutorial sound driven mechanics is something ive been interested in for a bit now and it would be cool to mess around with it in this program as well

      Houdini is great for this kinds of projects and gives you control of anything you want, enjoy!

    Thanks! Can Houdini output changing complex visuals in live real-time from audio recorded live (say at a concert), outputted into a mixer and then into the PC to Houdini and out through a projector?

    • @MIXTraining
      @MIXTraining  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, Houdini is not meant for that, try something like TouchDesigner

      @@MIXTraining Thanks. TouchDesigner is perfect. I see Deadmau5 even uses Touchdesigner for programming his insane cube light show. Man, I really can't stand subscription models. I hope Unreal engine adds more functionality for real-time projection mapping. There's a great plug-in for Unreal, but it's also only offering a ridiculously overpriced monthly subscription model.

    Nice! I just saw a cool sin wave function vex tutorial by anastasia opara. My quest for the day is to drive her vex tutorial with your chops video!
    Also, im thinking a fast fourier transform could be really sweet to give a spectral waveform.
    The other thing you could do is is maybe lowpass/bandpass/highpass filter the audio and have separate motion for the bass, mids and highs

    • @MIXTraining
      @MIXTraining  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haven't seen Anastasia's tutorial yet but yes you could mix it and control that with music and of course you can do different passes as you say and make each part drive different things, glad I gave you some ideas, let me know what you come out with :)

    Wow, really amazed about this recently discovered hidden gem within Houdini :) is it possible to do the same practice with realtime incoming audio instead of an audio waveform previously loaded? Thanks for your training series, Im a big fan of them, keep it up!

    • @MIXTraining
      @MIXTraining  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, you can connect midi devices and microphones as well, thank you

      @@MIXTraining that's fantastic, thanks! Do you have any series based on sound, midi, etc, within Houdini? Can you point me to any other source? I'm really interesting in this Houdini side :) thanks again!

      Look for Andrew Lowell he does that stuff and just released this github.com/andrew-lowell/HMT
      But, if you want to ONLY do that you might want to look at Touchdesigner, is a for of Houdini for that specific use

    • @MIXTraining
      @MIXTraining  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@philippaps44 is not a common thing, you can figure it out, but actually, there was a whole book about this by Andrew Lowell is pretty good, I don't think is available anymore

    • @philippaps44
      @philippaps44 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MIXTraining yeah I stubbled upon that name while doing some research maybe I'll look for the actual book but for now I'm figuring out by myself mostly. It's not just the technical part of how to import attributes from sop but mostly how to get something that sounds musical which really interesting and it's not that simple.

    does houdini just import wave forms or can it import data such as tone or melody? if i play a key on a synthesiser that holds its tone and i slide it to another tonne with out changing volume will houdini register the change in key?

    Oh, I was looking for this kind of audio driven animation. I'm learning houdini. I have a project with a music that I would like to be animating some lines, swirls. Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge. I'm trying this next week. Great. If ever not is going well, could I get in touch with you so I can ask questions ? On some channels, facebook or other ? Thank you for this anyway. Oh, I see that I could get the hip file !!! Yes !!! I'll look on your patreon account. I'm not sure about patreon. I am interested in this hip file, but I could also support. Just want to make sure that this file is available. I want to make something like the Oscillate animation that Daniel Sierra (2013 Vimeo). Do you think this is in the same line of thinking about the process of lines animated with music. Oh this message is way too long, sorry, it's late, I should go to sleep now. I wonder also how come there is not that much tutorial on this ? This is amazing.
