This piano guy is crazy good! Just starting from random parts of this complicated music and KILLIN IT!
It's Ligeti's Desordre
I can do that 😂
as a pianist, I thank you for noticing!!!
Man, I hope that pianist is being paid big bucks, because that is not the sort of music that one casually plays. He's probably physically "done for the day" after that rehearsal.
@Gin Weston We love you guys for what you do
"What can happen is, someone can stubbornly be right...but then everyone else looks off. We have to work as a team."
This is so true for so many types of performance.
My eyes are drawn to Yuhui Choe as well. She is just really good and the other thing is she looks healthy. Koreans are normally very petite, so Yuhui doesn't look as worn out as the other dancers. I would love to see her become a principle dancer. :-)
thanks rob
Yuhui Choe is so beautiful when she dances... I wanna see her on stage for definite~ soon!
Luv how yuhui and Alexander are really the only pair that are interacting and talking so that they can be better at the Choreo :) luv them both
Love how Christopher constantly thanks Rob, the pianist. He's as passionate as the dancers (if not a bit more haha).
I'm not crazy about that music but watching Rob is magical.
Rob is killing it. Gold stars!
ogga That woman is not only a principle dancer, but she has worked with the choreographer many times before. Someone in her position is expected to take a leadership role in this situation.
It can be too much if, eveyone starts asking questions at once, so she asks the questions that many of the other dancers probably need answered. Something like that can be invaluable to the choreographer and the other dancers.
GOOD LORD PIANO DOOD!! crazy amazing work he’s doing!!
It's so inspiring watching him work. Thank you so much for posting. I learn so much.
Oh my goodness what a joy to watch their hard work and persistence! Love love love!
that pianist is an x-file
i´ve become addicted to these rehearsal videos!!!this is genius!!!!!
THANKS ROB!
I can't explain why, but after watching some rehearsals, I am in love with Rob ;D he seems to love the piano so much!
Glad you enjoyed it. Do keep an eye on our channel, Facebook, Twitter and website for info about future events!
Amazing work. How they count and remember steps and movement and all that goes into a piece like that is beyond me.
From some one who watched Margot F, I am awestruck by the amazing versatility and talent of young artistes NOW - such hardwork so well achieved......xxxxxxx thanks a million.
Bravo Rob.....you,r a great pianist!
I'm taking a ballet class in college, and we have a showcase this wednesday! Luckily we were required to watch Polyphonia for the MCB. And seeing how the Royal Ballet does Polyphonia makes me think its so intricate and beautifully executed. They are such inspirations to me
Thank you for sharing this to the rest of the world which didn't get to watch the streaming!!!
Wonderful! More of that day please!
That was...amazing.
I'm watching this for like the billionth time and I just saw Sarah Lamb watching by the barre :)

What a super cool talented pianist 💙🌈🍀🙏
my eyes are naturally drawn to Yuhui :)
fantastic
Me too! I can't take my eyes off of them!
Just keep working ! you're so amazing :)
"the woman" you mean Leanne Benjamin one of the most important principal in the Royal Ballet since 1992? I don't think she needs attention, she danced for longer than Christopher Wheeldon...
Went on to star in the West End in "An American in Paris." Brilliant musical.
Sally Gardiner that was Leanne Cope
Love chris!!
More Tristan Dyer please!!!
Love to see Yuhui in the center... xoxoxoxo
I just love Alexander Campbell so much
May I say.......the piano player is DA MAN!
Gorgeous
Also, HI PLEASE PUT THE NAMES OF THESE 8 DANCERS IN THE DESCRIPTION OF THE VIDEO THANK YOU !
In case you still want to know (from left to right): Itziar Mendizabal/ Dawid Trzensimiech, Leanne Benjamin/Nehemiah Kish, Yuhui Choe/Alexander Campbell and Beatriz Stix-Brunell/Tristan Dyer.
Nasduchamp Thank you!
+Nasduchamp thank you :)
Interesting - thank you!
I much prefer his choroegraphy to Wayne McGregor’s. And he is has the good taste to include the super-cute Alexander Campbell!

Nehemiah Kish
My god ... does anyone know who this beautiful silver-haired man ???
+Cláudia Tsebayoth That's The Royal Ballet's Ballet Master Christopher Saunders www.roh.org.uk/people/christopher-saunders
loving nehemiah in this!
Wow! Impressively complex. May be not my cup of tea, but I certainly appreciate the technique and the artistry.
... YOUR LANGUAGE , CHRISTOPHER , is A VERY PERFECT ONE ... NOT ONLY RESTRICTED THIS VERY ' BALLET REHEARSAL ' .... IT EMBRACES ALL ARTS . AND INDICATES THE WAY THINGS SHOULD BE ... IN GOING TO ALL FIELDS OF ACTIVITIES IN OUR LIVES ... AND STUDIES ... PHILOSOPHY , SOCIOLOGY , POLITICS , BEHAVIORS , WAY OF WORKING ... WELL , ALL ACTIVITIES OF OUR DAY BY DAY LIFE .
3:14 _ 3:20 , 3:28 , 3:30 _ 3:32 ... AND MORE . THE 3:15 is GREAT .
AND , I QUOTE YOU BELOW :
" THE MUSIC is CALLED DESORDER AND YOU ... ARE THE ORDER .
SO , IN ORDER TO SEE THE ORDER , THE LINES HAVE TO BE VERY CLEAR "
" WHAT WE HEAR is DESORDER BUT WHAT WE ACUALLY SEE is ORDER "
What is the name of the song and who composed it?
I spot Claudia Dean in the back right!
"one, two, three, open ! " :D :D
I really hope that pianist gets payed well O_O
I believe it's a Ligeti piano etude.
Who is the girl in the white leotard?
Beatriz Stix-Brunnell
i find myself more interested in the understudies. the girl in blue to the far right. australian? i remeber her from the prix de lausanne .2010? she has determination in her eyes. it is almost scarry how much she desires to top tier first rank world famous ballerina. she may be a force undeniable. thie girl towrd the left . did a tripple and opened up front without the partner .wow . the royal ballet Rocks
Just realized the guy with the Asian girl is the guy who was the Mad Hatter in Alice In Wonderland!
this might sound like a stupid question, but why don't they play the pieces on a computer, instead of paying musicians to be there for every rehearsal?
Nat U idk for sure but I’m assuming it’s probably so it’s easier to start and stop when needed, and begin from random places
The youtuber but they can do that with a laptop, and it'd be easier to mark the exact second each step is performed. Plus, it'd be more convenient because it's a recorded piece and it's always the same tempo and speed, sometimes the pianists go slower or faster by accident. And you can have the music person next to the choreographer so they don't have to yell across the room to tell them to stop playing...
Nat U fair point, idk then, I mean personally I think it’s easier to “feel the music” when it’s live, and it also might be more traditional? Like I said, I don’t really know, I’m just throwing out guesses
I’m amazed that Leanne Benjamin is still dancing so strongly and so vigorously. She’s been around a very long time. She made a wonderful Bluebird in the 1990s video recording of the the Royal Ballet’s “Sleeping Beauty”, starring Viviana Durante and Zoltan Solymosi and Benazir Hussein, all of whom are gone now, from the RB.
Is he playing all the right notes, but in the wrong order ?
WHO'S MUSIC IS THIS?
Hi Laura. The music is by György Ligeti
Royal Opera House THANK YOU!
I just recognized two dancers from Alice in Wonderland.... Alice and the Mad Hatter
Dat pianist....
So what's new? Didn't Balanchine and Robbins do it better?
am i the only one hearing "Yoofee" instead of Yuhui? with an "H".
robinleems it is literally two syllables “yoo-hee”. People really need to get over making Asian names harder than it really is. If they respected her, they would actually try to pronounce her name correctly. I know from having a “unique” name, being made fun of for my name, never being pronounced correctly, and it really is degrading and hurtful and plain disrespectful for people to not even try. My name is a part of my identity, my culture, and so much more. Please try to say it right.
that music gives me headache
One always pities the pianist.
Looks like the Black Swan studio...*shivers* watch out for a jerk choreographer and an angeneau named, Nina
the pianist is very good, but I do not care for the music.
In a word....NO
Actually, YES.
the woman who keeps asking questions seems like a teacher's pet. like the type of student who constantly asks questions in order to get the teacher to notice them but instead they just get on the teacher's nerves because they ask way too many questions that can be answered by their own common sense
ogga yeah I think she was irritating him😅
