Thanks for the videos. I'm going to try and build a pump with a 3"-4" diameter. Put the ones with eggs back and let them grow; catch today, catch tomorrow.
we call them nippers here in Australia. I keep them live by changing the water regularly so bring a couple of empty bottles and I use a foam esky eg ice box plastic no good and a portable air pump happy fishing days
I did a follow up vid where I fished with them! Link is in the description. They typically stay alive for a few days when kept in a cool place, the fridge works great!
@Die Hard Fishing ; Also try catching Mudsuckers for bait. I don't know if there are any still around the South Bay but they are candy for Stripers and Halibut.
Nice tutorial. How about a video on keeping them alive until your ready to use them and throughout your day of fishing. A few times they have gone bad before I was finished fishing for the day.
we rinse them out, drain sand wash them out keep on top of paper towel in the jar (no water it will kill them)with lid that has small holes and put in the cooler with ice packs if fishing we keep them in plastic bag that sits on top a small ice pack if it is hot out side in the winter it is cool out so we don't use ice packs good luck!
Solid video. How long can you keep them alive in that container or do you need to switch out water, put them in a container with damp seaweed instead like shore crabs, etc.. ?
Hook em through the tail pull the hook all the way through. Turn the shrimp hook it through the mid section pull the hook all the way through. Hook em one more time right by the head and pull the line tight
Vincent Bedolla if you put the hook from the soft part at the tail and run it down to the head then hook it through where the legs are they are quite tough and last in waves
Thanks for the great vid. Looks like the ghost shrimp pump is performing effortlessly. It didn't seem that exhaust holes on top of the pump was needed after all. Now I'll have one more thing to carry when going out fishing. :)
When I was like 9 (damn near 20 years ago) someone took me to catch shrimp off dunbarton bridge pier at night...we caught a bucket- but that place was so sketchy with giant holes in the pier-missing railings.
once upon a time, i was at a Beach on south Padre Island. i noticed small breathing holes that seemed to appear in the sand after the tide had receded. i decided that i wanted to know What caused these holes in the sand. So, i grabbed my plastic shovel and pail and i began to dig. A couple of times i got really close to the creature. I knew this because my shovel would scrape against it, which only gave me more motivation. The creature Kept digging deeper. when i finally exposed a glimpse of the thing; i was so absolutely frightened that i screamed and ran away. what i saw was so unexpected and Startling. At the time and until now, i had no idea what i saw. it was definitely a crustacean, it was all white; i saw it's head and it's front 4 legs wiggling in the air. it was a horrible sight. i was hoping for a clam or something. After coming across a youtube video about catching Ghost Shrimp, i knew right then that that is exactly what i had dug up that one day. A distant memory brought back to life.
Very cool but also... you should help this shrimps to be rescued because they have a serious problem They have a parasitic isopods in their gills (How can you tell?) Well if you see a large lump on its side and had a pinkish color. Meaning it had a parasite in there gills buried in the shrimp’s skin
Can I at least get a city where these are in so I can catch my own? I sturgeon fish all the time and hate spend 13$ every time I want a dozen.. I made the pump you have but i don’t know where to go
hey man I wonder how do you keep them alive for a few days? Are they also work really well when they die?? And btw you can make a video about using ghost shrimp to catch fish! I will watch it haha.
Hey so these shrimps are currently in risk. The reason why is that there are parasitic isopods that were introduced into the us from China and they have been using the shrimp as host. There quite easy to remove. Gently lift up the gills and there might be one. So please limit using these magnificent creatures as bait!
Not the correct way. You teach beginners wrong. Wheres your float catch net. ? We use a small wheel barrow tube with fine netting attached below to pump the pumped sand it when wading in water so you can catch the prawns. Your pump is also not working correctly and looks weak. You need a strong good pump with deep lunges and pulls.
Thanks for the videos. I'm going to try and build a pump with a 3"-4" diameter. Put the ones with eggs back and let them grow; catch today, catch tomorrow.
I think those are ghost lobsters because ghost shrimp are 1-2 inches and don’t have claws. Plus they are nearly clear
Titanic Tiger Shrimp I saw the thumb nail and was like “...”
Where exactly is this in half moon bay? Thanks in advance.
we call them nippers here in Australia. I keep them live by changing the water regularly so bring a couple of empty bottles and I use a foam esky eg ice box plastic no good and a portable air pump happy fishing days
Nice thanks for the tip! Thanks for watching!
How long will they stay alive, and how is best way to hook them/rig them? They really seem hard to keep on hook
I did a follow up vid where I fished with them! Link is in the description. They typically stay alive for a few days when kept in a cool place, the fridge works great!
Where in the Bay Area can you catch ghost shrimps? I heard the mud flats at crab cove are not allowed
I have a suggestion for your next vid. Catching pile worms out of the bay mudflats or finding Midshipman under the rocks in the SF Bay.
Thanks for the suggestion, might have to give that a shot!
@Die Hard Fishing ; Also try catching Mudsuckers for bait. I don't know if there are any still around the South Bay but they are candy for Stripers and Halibut.
Great idea, thanks! I have never done it before but heard stripers can't resist them!
can I find these on FL east coast?
Wow I had no idea! I'm definitely trying this and making a video! 🎣🎣
Good luck!
Pump works great!! Nicely done!!
Thanks!
Awesome vid!💯💪👊LET'S GO!!!
Nice video .it's help for reading
How to hook them. I tried that bait and it comes off the hook very easy. What’s the secret to keep them on the hook?
3 pumps in one hole is about my max anyway, glad that’s enough for once.
Would you kindly make a video on how you rig or tie it? Thanks..
I did one already! Link in the description.
Yes, it is in the video!
Wich Beach are you on??
I just go to a place I know lift up rock find a tunnel and start digging but usually the just on the surface when you lift the rock
You rock! Thanks for the tutorial.
Thanks for watching!

Thanks for the suggestion, I will try to mention in in a future vid!

Fontana Outdoors Thank you

Damp seaweed is the best. They should stay alive for at least a few days as long as they stay in a cool place.
I’m from California, specifically more Los Angeles, where is the region it is where you found your ghost shrimp and where are they commonly found
How would you use ghost shrimp for surf perch? They’re so fragile. I imagine they fall apart easy in the surf. Thoughts/tips?
Stay tuned for part 3! I have a few tips for keeping them hooked better.
Magic thread?
Yep!
Nice video, but where did you get that fancy invisible watch?
It's a one of a kind, can't buy it online.
Totally forgot about ghost shrimp! Need to pump some for my next trip out. What do you do to keep them alive for extended periods of time?
Keep them in a cool place with a damp rag on the bottom of the container. They should stay alive for at least a few days!
Will definitely do this on my next outing!
Looks good, can't wait to see part 3...
Coming soon!
Sweet man!
Thanks for watching!
in austraila we call them saltwater yabbies or nippers and make great bait
Nice!
You should cook some in a video. Youll get more hits. Ive microwave them eaten them in the past. Taste just like shrimp/crawfish.
nice vid man! wanted to know exactly where you went to catch the ghost shrimp. thanks.
Do you catch these in SoCal? They look like they would be good for sheepshead.
I believe you can, anywhere with stagnant salt water.
Thanks for the great vid. Looks like the ghost shrimp pump is performing effortlessly. It didn't seem that exhaust holes on top of the pump was needed after all. Now I'll have one more thing to carry when going out fishing. :)
Thanks for watching!
Awesome video! Where in the Bay was this at?
From the horn in the background It sounds like either HalfMoon Bay or Bodega
Daniel Kim spot burn lol
Great tutorial! I always find these guys by mistake when digging for clams. Do you think halibut will go for ghost shrimp?
I have never caught one personally on ghost shrimp but I don't see why not!
@neonick9417they are ghost shrimp these are soft yabbies are hard
Sturgeon and stripers

Thanks for watching!
Yw brother 🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣
Hey nice vid
Thanks!
How canyou keep them alive and for how long?
If you keep them in the fridge or on ice with a damp towel, they stay alive about a week.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏video brother!!!
Thanks for watching!
Hi from Germany🙂
Thanks for watching, all the way from the other side of the world!

Glad I could bring some closure to your traumatic event, haha
what you described sounds like a sand crab not a ghost shrimp
Very cool but also...
you should help this shrimps to be rescued because they have a serious problem

Thanks for the heads up!
I need to catch shrimp... it is the best bait you can use
And it's free!
Whens the best time to catch those shrimp? Day or night
Low tide is best, so whenever low tide is. Check your local tides.
@@ciannacalara3179 thank u i hope i have good luck
@@ilikefire0 good luck. Also, the lower the tide the better, negative tides are always good.
@@ciannacalara3179 thank you for ur advice
Go Stanford!
Can I at least get a city where these are in so I can catch my own?
I sturgeon fish all the time and hate spend 13$ every time I want a dozen..
I made the pump you have but i don’t know where to go
Look to the right at 2:19. See that radar dome? Pretty sure he's a Pilar Point Harbor.
Like how you check your invisible watch.
haha, thanks!

It’s good bait
The parasites are on mud shrimps in washington state. Not on ghost shrimps.
Bruh a guy game me one today, and I used it to fish in San Diego.
4:35 "pumping these holes"
That is not a shrimp i think
What do you think it is?
Ghost shrimp are freshwater.
Also, are the ghost shrimp good for human consumption?
I am not sure, maybe when fishing gets slow...
Ghost shrimp are clear
Can you eat them?? 🤔 catch n cook for Matts..
I am not sure, maybe when fishing gets slow...
@@DieHardFishing outdoor chef life did a video where he ate them....they all said it was "weird"
Can I have a ghost shrimp please!!!!!!!!
Now you can catch your own!
Those are like crack to fish. It'll shut down anyone around you if they're ussing any other bait.
Can't beat it when its fresh!
make bait finding videos
