    Steve Yzerman needs to bring better players in free agent, and we need Nate Danielson, Soderbloom, and Kasper to be in the roster lineup.

      Those 3 and others need to earn the roster spots.

      Don't forget about Cossa because he looks to be almost ready for full time NHL action. I believe he is our goaltender of the future and he has been playing very well in Grand Rapids. This team came within a point of making the playoffs this year and a lot of that was due to acquiring Patrick Kane. He came in and produced and without him we wouldn't have been anywhere near a playoff spot on the last game of the season. As much as I would like to see Kane back for another couple of years with the Wings I don't really see it happening because I think he is looking towards retirement soon and I can see him back with the Blackhawks. I would not blame him for choosing them over us because he spent the majority of his career there and they obviously still love the way he plays.

      @@dangroat4438 Kane said he wants to play until he's 40 so no chance he's thinking of retiring. The Blackhawks ship has sailed for him

    If Yzerman were to open cap space Maata and Fabbri are the most movable pieces. Honestly Petry is fine as that 7th D man at 2.25M. Copp a bit more to swallow for a 5.5M bottom six but Yzerman will likely have to keep... You are definitely right that Holl will unfortunately join Albdekader as more dead cap space after a buyout. With Berggren and Johansson make or break this season they would be good internal additions... It would be a miracle if Yzerman could land Stamkos or Reinhart giving us a true top 6 Center to pair with Larkin.

      fabbri and Walman are not the best but red wings have no shooters other than those 2

    one problem with your main metric: putting up points is not all there is to it. How do you measure de defensive contributions, won board battles that lead to points by others, etc? In other words, there are valuable players who do not put up points.

    • @HealthyScratchRedWingsReport
      @HealthyScratchRedWingsReport  หลายเดือนก่อน

      didn't have time to dive into that, just wanted a quick snapshot. Mentioned things like Maata's defence which doesn't show up on the scoresheet

    Detroit could take a step back next year for two reasons. This team was able to pull out late game victories at an unsustainable rate and they will lose key pieces including Kane and Perron. With cap space already spent on Seider and Raymond there isn't much SY can do to boost this team. The good news is there is a LOT of dead money coming off the books soon. Chiarot, Petry, Holl, Copp, Fabbri, Husso, etc. Edvinsson and Berggren are going to get their chances. I expect that if and most likely when next year disappoints the head hunters will be tracking Yzerman down but the rebuild is still going strong as long as those prospects are impressing.

      @HealthyScratchRedWingsReport  หลายเดือนก่อน

      There is plenty Steve can do to improve the team and create cap space. Most of that via trade, getting rid of some bloated contracts. There's no guarantee Kane and/or Perron leave they could be back. And I personally think a lot of people are going to be shocked by the Raymond and Seider contracts. I believe they won't be as high a cap hit as most people think!

    If the Wings continue to be this “Jekyll and Hyde” team every year, they will never evolve up to Stanley Cup Championship caliber. This isn’t good enough. Great analysis, Kyle!

      There coming off a rebuild and there doing outstanding based on how many years it's been there prospect pool is phenomenal. Give it a break. No team is a playoff or cup team a few years after an entire rebuild and coaching change.

      @@simonsmith5506 I wouldn’t quite call it outstanding. I would still call it at least decent. Yes, they’re making progress. They just can’t keep collapsing like that at the wrong times. I see what goes on with them every year.

    Time to bring up some of the younger guys like Kasper / Soderblom / Danielson / Mazur / Bergs and Hanas to replace the Ufa's and guys that might b packaged to get D help and a goalie that can holder down till either Cossa or Augustine or both r ready , would luv to get Markstrom from Calgary but that's fantasy me 😁

    You keep saying that this or that player is a good locker room guy. You have no idea if that is true unless you have access to the locker room. I like how you talk about each players plus minus when evaluating players. If the team has a positive plus minus they usually make the playoffs.
