I've had my S6 Lite for about a year now and I love it. I can't imagine going back to a tablet without an Spen. I use it to annotate PDFs and for digital art, among other things. Totally worth it, especially if you have sausage fingers like me
I bought the s6 lite last year to swap from paper notes to digital notes, and I absolutely love it. Pair it with a cheap bluetooth keyboard and you've got a pretty good laptop replacement when in a pinch. Samsung Dex works well, but the S-Pen really makes a difference if you're using it for productivity.
I'm considering doing the same as i have around 3 notebooks for three different jobs/projects. I speak to a lot of people and need to take notes often, and just not one to type and talk. I'm just wondering is it a sustainable paper relacement or do you find the novelty of the s-pen wears off when it comes to note taking?
@@macromuffin the novelty hasn't worn off yet and I've been using it daily for the last few months. If you pair it with an app that can sync across devices it's even better, as you can access your notes anywhere. I use Microsoft One note, but I find the palm rejection is not as good as in Samsung Notes for example, but with Samsung Notes it's not as easy to view or edit the notes on a different device. The two things I don't like about using the tablet for note taking is it is noticeably heavier than a paper notepad, so of you're the kind of person who takes notes while standing, it may not be a good choice. Also in sunlight, the screen can be a little too dim to see what you're writing.
@Wasim Akhtar There's a rule from McKinsey for note taking. Never use a tablet when you're with client or in a meeting. Unless you need to show some graphs or slides. They're really put some emphasize in using pen and papers as much as you can.

I appreciate the info in your comparison. I'd only add one thing: The S6 lite does NOT include Global Navigation Satellite System support. So, if you use your tablet for navigation (which I do - especially when out of the country and using offline maps) be sure to get the A8 and NOT the S6.
I bought mine (P610) at 350 last year from Hong Kong. The price hasn't dropped yet after 5 months. It's an in-demand device and I can't blame people if they still buy this older device. OS upgrades are great but when they stop, these devices can still enjoy a good number of years of app support. That's what's great about the Android platform. So I am not fazed that updates will soon stop for my device. Also, S Notes has gotten more exciting and has gotten so much better with faster synchronization time. I highly recommend these to students and those with productivity, digital art, and digital note taking as their focus. The Dex really is a wonderful feature especially if you're on a tight budget.
Absolutely agree with you about the first step in buying any tech products. Decide you want to do with it. The s6 lite is more of a productivity tablet especially with the S pen and dex. Both will do fine with most media consumption but as the a8 is newer you will get at least one more year of updates. Probably won’t go wrong with either one.
I've been keeping an eye out for this particular comparison, and I'm leaning towards the S6 Lite. There is a deal right now on Samsung. It's about $280 with trade-in as opposed to be $250, but I'd say it still looks good.

I had an old Galaxy Tab S2 9.7" that I used as a secondary tablet. It was finally too old. I recently did a full factory reset, and half of the apps I used on it couldn't be installed because the Android version was too old. I went with the Tab A8 simply because it's going to get more firmware updates, and that's the most important consideration given that I tend to hold on to secondary tablets for far longer. Also, it's cheaper. I don't care about processing power since I'm mostly just doom-scrolling social media, watching TH-cam, browsing, and doing other fairly simple tasks. The Tab A8 screen looks washed out and dim compared to the Tab S7 Plus, but that's to be expected given the price range. For a secondary device I'm more than happy with it. I got the version with 4 GB of memory and 64 GB of storage for future-proofing given that I plan to own this for a long time just like I did with the Tab S2.
This is my situation. I currently have the S2 9.7 and I'm looking to upgrade. I barely use the tablet, just here and there for scrolling social media and mainly reading. Thank you for your input.
I have the S6 lite for over a year and a half. It's an awesome tablet for the price & I would figure it's superior to the A7. But at this point it's beginning to show it's age now. Since the Android 13 update I find battery life has been impacted quite a bit. I used to get by with one charge per day, but now I need to charge twice a day (it does get heavy use though). An Android 14 update probably won't happen since it's now on the 3rd major software release. Besides the possible battery degradation & while not getting any more software updates, it will still receive regular security updates for a while yet. The S6 lite is better in every respect, screen, sound & S-pen + more. It's a shame though that there won't be anymore software updates because if it did, the S6 lite would be the better buy.
I’ve been thinking of getting the tab S6 lite but I just saw the A8 at Costco for $108 with case. I’ve been using an eight year old iPad Air 2 , I hope I won’t be disappointed. The battery shot on the iPad it won’t hold a charge. PS i’m an android guy..

our education ministry is giving out free samsung a8 tablet (ofc together with casing,keyboard and a stylus!) for some college student and i am one of the luckiest student who got it but i already have my own s6 lite tablet and after watching this i'm just gonna stick with my current tab and will give the a8 one to my sister. great comparison! the samsung dex definitely make up my mind.

The Samsung S-Pen is truly an essential accessory for a cartoonist like me. My go-to drawing/painting app is Clip Studio Paint. I also do a little bit of retro gaming on my Galaxy Tab S6 Lite via ScummVM, which is available on the Google Play Store.
I have been using the G Tab A, which is the 1st iteration of the Tab A Series Tablets. Unfortunately, my Tab A Broke, so I bought the Tab S6 lite. I haven't had too much time with the Tab S6 lite, but I'm happy with it so far. The biggest difference between the Tab A & S6 lite is that the S6 lite has a Bigger Screen size than the Tab A, & the S6 lite has Digital Stylus input to take notes & sketching.
Price wise the S6 Lite is also priced about the same as the A8 if you count the additional price as the value of a spare S-Pen. So if you want a pen, get the S6, but if you don't care about the pen, you can save yourself 80 bucks and get the A8 with the same performance.
@@elleseven71 a8 doesn't support s pen. You will need to buy a general stylus for it. A8 also don't have palm rejection. S8 is better in this respect. Go S8.

GUI was a common term in the early days of graphical user interfaces. It stands for Graphical User Interface, to distinguish it from the more common command line interface of DOS, UNIX, etc. Anyone who used early versions of Windows or MacOS would be familiar with the term.
Tje galaxy s5e is the best mid-range tablet. Tablets need to be AMOLED, PERIOD! I can't stand LCD horrible blacks that look gray, viewing angles. Anyway, for a 6 year old kid, I guess the A8 is the way to go.

the A8 can be bought with an S Pen too. i think it's the International Version. i plan on getting the A8 with the S Pen.
