Debating getting a tablet of some form for this year or med school so this video was super helpful thank youuuuu
dont even waste your time thinking it over, just get one. you wont regret it at all.
Is there an app that allows me to access my files regardless off the device I'm using? For Samsung notes, bamboo, etc., I can only see it on the tablet and can't see it on my pc for example... or can I use my USB??
@@juliewoo8026 one note 😁 it goes across every device.
@@juliewoo8026 Samsung notes is the best app to study and it works on windows 10 store , i put mine to auto sync every night as a backup, you only need to create a free sansung account
@@katheryn6748 Oh!! How would I put it on auto sync...? Would it create a new file every time it saves?
finally someone who understands student's problem - not being able to afford ipads and expensive apps. Thank you!!
even a professor's problem, when purchased on personal funds.
Finally someone who doesn’t use an iPad
@Anuvab 632 an ipad is useless unless you have other apple devices
I don't have anything else from apple so i can't think of an interesting use for an ipad
Me neither..

@@axelkane3459 I have a Samsung phone. And just 3 days ago I got an ipad. Its pretty useful to me. It is a pain to transfer stuff to the iPad, but I've just figured out ways to make it easy. Its pretty useful, atleast to ne
I just bought this and it's my first ever decent tablet, I didn't think I'd use the S pen but actually it has changed how I apply for jobs, take notes, pass my time, and organise my life. Its also ignited a passion for digital drawing and its the best thing I've bought this decade. I absolutely love it.
heyy can u comment on palm rejection? does your palm interfere your writing?
This is also my first tab.... Is it good for note taking? I am not able to set it's writing how to do it ???? Its very messy when i write
I have been using STabs for a couple of years. Time management, calendar, emails and entertainment. The usual. Now I am retiring and want to get more out of it. Your video has opened up so many possibilities as I start my Pre-Han Dynasty Chinese philosophy course. One Note is my structured database for notes and Samsung Notes my 'post it notes' or quick scribbles. I so wish I had one of these forty years ago. I'm looking forward to watching more of your superb videos. This one has helped me make my Tab work better for me. Thank you so very much.
@Kevin U.K. As a fellow older person (59 this birthday!!) who loves to study I felt I had to contact you. Have you bought the S6 Lite - if so, how are you getting on with it? I am about to embark upon a part time PhD in English lit. and need something to save me from mountains of notes (honestly I think they are multiplying when I sleep) accumulated during my MA.
I want something to write on whilst sitting comfortably in my reclining chair as I have a chronic pain condition, and convert to Word documents so I can edit etc. at the desk top PC. Tried voice to text but it exhausted me and annoyed me.
Let me know how you get on: have you considered a Chrome OS tablet like the Lenovo Duet?
@@honeychurchgipsy6 I use tab s6 lite and it's good, considering there are only limited species in the market with pen support. Sometimes it can lag because it's a 2019 processor, or maybe you can go with S7/s7+ ; they are flagships and the best Android tabs in the market.
@@malayalamentertainmentcomp8580 - thanks - I bought the S6 lite and love it - I find it super fast - no lag at all - but then I might not use it for the same things as you do (no gaming?)
I do however find it heavy and dislike the long, narrow shape. I've bought a Boox Nova 3 e reader too which I love - the screen is only 7.8 inches but because of the shape it's big enough - I can take notes, draw and read on it - now thinking of a bigger 10 inch version - lol!!
Man! I thought that was a wall painting behind him. Lol
until you saw the icons ??! :D
It moves if you look close enough!

As a medical intern, this is exactly the set of specs I was seeking in a tablet device. Thank you so much for this review on the Tab s6 lite! :)
You're more than welcome! What specialty are you going into?? :)
@@OllieBurtonMed I'm applying to match into Internal Medicine, with a future prospect in medical oncology as my choice in super-specialty (hopefully). What about you? :)
@@Time2ChooseYou Ah nice!! Hoping for neurosurgery, but specialty matching is done very differently here so I've got another 3-4 years of working as a junior before applying!
@@OllieBurtonMed Neurosurgery- that's amazing! Ah, that's a bit of a process, but well worth it in due time, I'm sure! Good luck with everything 😁
@@OllieBurtonMed I had a question. Is this tablet large enough for note taking?
I've had my S7+ for a year and it feels new (I spend 15 hrs/week using it). th-cam.com/users/postUgkxLNmVocUk8tnSkwWIlYSNFzWRIaFTBuzS I use it for reading, viewing social media, email, and playing an occasional game. Some 'computers' feel slow and antiquated after a month of use. With the S7+, speed feels as fast as it did when I bought it. Because I don't use apps that are heavy on graphics, I get a respectable 7 hours of battery life before I recharge (I juice back up when I get to 20%). While the S7+ is 3 year old technology, I see no reason to upgrade to a S9+. S7+ is a good value for 99% of what you would use a tablet for.
I can appreciate a med student that’s also a techie 👍🏾
Very helpful! I've seen review that just keep saying the full-fledged S6 is more powerful but that didn't really give me an idea of what the S6 lite could do. This was exactly what I wanted!
Thanks Edie!
Got s6 lite. And have to admit it's amazing. The Spen works smoothly and Squid takes care of my note taking. Have to admit, I feel it's better than ipad 7gen. Yea, its certainly dependent on the use case. But for me, who uses it for note takin, media consumption, s6 lite is more than useful and really smooth.
Bhai I am also in mood to buy it ... What should I do ?
@@k.2515 I use it for Netflix, reading, and note taking primarily. For Note taking, Squid and One Note is really good. Plus there are other good apps as well like Bamboo paper. Even Social media browsing is good. Display wise, we really can't find difference between Amoled and S6 lite screen. The viewing experience is really nice. I don't use Procreate, so can't comment on it. But if your use is for designing, go for Ipad Mini and above variants. But for my uses which includes the above, S6 lite does really well. Plus the added advantage of storage and type C portability. It can handle much of my tasks seamlessly and the inclusion of Spen was a gamechanger in my decision making.
@@aravindajaykumar7884 Firstly.... Thanks for taking your time replying me..
I checked this product on Amazon and there are various complaint regarding s pen.
I'm primarily intrested in buying this for study and note making purpose so pen is essential for me.Is there any alternative to spen on any e-commerce website ?? In case this s pen gets defected.
do you use it for online classes?
@@asunthalovelin8032 yes, in fact I'm in an online class right now with it! I really like it because the camera is good enough and it's very easy to use but has so many things, I also love how you can be in a meeting or online class and at the same time be doing your work on the other half of the screen if you open split screen view
The samsung tab really helps in talimg notes and edit pdf and other documents. From a law student perspective.
I wanna be a lawyer too
this is very helpful, i bought this for studying pharmacy, with online schooling, notebooks are nice, but waste of paper and cant annotate in pdfs directly or videos for that matter. And i didnt even know about the screen capture thing, thank you!
I love how you explain that notetaking there are more than just an aesthetic or trend to define a student's learning process. Yas you can always go analogue if you think it suits your conditions best ...
Currently iam using samsung tab A7 with s pen. It is so amazingly usefull for me for online teaching and for my studies. Now iam considering to buy samsung tab s6 lite
I was supposed to get another device for notetaking but unfortunately, I will have to buy another. I was recommended this one but your review really convinced me. As a med student, I really appreciate this perspective with notetaking and using books and even showing us the apps. Thank you :)
Very welcome!
I feel like you're the Ali Abdaal of the Samsung tablet and are destined to become his arch-nemesis.
I hope not! Just trying to show medical applicants that other options exist!
@@OllieBurtonMed That's quite valuable (despite being obvious) cause all the TH-cam productivity/study community is brainwashed with iPads
@@matiaschacana5768 Exactly...
Not all med school students are rich!
@@nimo5347 Or wasteful.
I agree 100% , they have created this utopian world of " productivity "
I bought this one , the experience is so smooth and good .. you'll not regret
You make the best review on S6 lite in youtube world, and you do not write at lazy 45 degree angle, which is very pleasing.
So nice to see such a competent evaluation that doesn't go on and on ad nauseam. Really appreciate this review and how you go about it. Bonjour from Le Canada!
Thank you so much!! The 7 minutes of this video has delivered volumes of how-to information that I didn't know existed. Just purchased the S6 T860 two days ago. Also, I'm am EMT and comb through lots of medic and other medical materials. This is the mult-media study tool I've envisioned for years. You my not be my PCP, but will always be my best study buddy. Cheers Doc !
Hi there, my name is Arpaporn. I like your content. It useful for me not only about the benefits of the device but I can also learn English, especially listening skill. Thanks a lot from Thailand.
you are very welcome Arpaporn! thanks for watching
This is what I really wanted to know about the Tab S6 Lite and it's s pen. Very helpful. Thanks
Excellent advice Ollie regarding how to study at medical school. I hope you're able to make an in depth video to advise medical students about what helpful tips you found to study effectively as it's certainly a different beast. In my experience, traditional note taking especially for high volume stuff like Medicine is for the most part inefficient. This can cause poor students a lot of academic headaches and feelings of helplessness.
The correct habits such as question banks and pictures will serve you well beyond graduation!
Good luck on the final stretch and I can see you adapting pretty well to initial working life. All the best.
@@aslan4767 I agree with you but unfortunately that is how medical school exams work in the UK - the written exams all test very much superificial knowledge and obscure sets of facts that you simply have to remember without much clinical context.
Oh thank goodness, I've been looking for a tablet because I'm in my final undergrad year and starting masters almost immediately after graduation, but every reviewer I saw was either vague as hell, or pushing iPad Pro/reMarkable.
I was really confused if I should consider buying a tablet for my studies, and this video clears a lot of those questions.. thanks man !!
Not that other reviews aren't good enough, but this one was ON-THE-SPOT for what I bought this tablet for!!! Awesome! Thank you.
I've watched a lot of videos on the S6 as ND S6+ and this is the best video on YT on using either for note taking.
I bought my s6 lite three weeks ago, liked it so much I bought one for the wife, great budget tablet, I would recommend this to anyone
As a doctor that's a good piece of advice..thank you for your reference
Watching this video because I want to evaluate electronic note taking options available. Saw that you were a trainee Doctor. But looking at your TH-cam name, it looks like you've graduated. It's possibly been a while but, congratulations!
The nib does break after some time. Weeks, months, but eventually it will break. After the tip breaks you have to get the thin long part out of the pen. It may require patience and a needle. It can be done :)
Thank you so much for this review. I just started my PhD
I have had two of these, and they both died one month after warranty went out. Went back to IPad hoping they had inproved.
My tab also s6 lite... I love it for drawing... TQ good review big bro👌
how is taking notes?
Can we take notes by watching video? What about microsoft apps ( Word,Excel,Power)working performance when compared to laptop?
Very important question no one answered me about it 😌!!?
I am considering getting this tablet to replace my notebook with has unfortunately stopped working. This video is so helpful AND really pleasant to watch, the sound is so nice
if you are replacing your notebook screen of this would be very small for you. i would recommend going for the s6 since you will not be very comfortable trying to read long word documents with this.
@@berkkuzgil I use it in combination with a desktop pc that i mostly use to attend online classes and type assignments, and use the tablet to read documents, so far i really love it (and its great for leisure browsing too haha)
This was so helpful! I will be starting Modern Languages in March (I am writing this comment in the beginning of February) and I rely heavily on note-taking to study! Really, there will be a lot of writing. I will be graduating in LANGUAGES. So this video really solved some doubts I was carrying, specially in regards to the ability of writing over PDFs. Thank you for that!
Thank you so much for such an informative video! I completely agree that ever since advancing into clinical years, elaborate handwritten notes have become no more than a nuisance and a waste of time.
I've done a lot of research regarding tablets and this has to be the most in depth review , for college students , I have come across. Thanks!
It is a great tab but never expect flagship level smoothness. FOR ME the best thing Reading pfd file, kindle books and reading web articles in chrome is super awesome...You dont need s7 or s7 plus to read ebooks because tab s6 lite is more than 100 percent enough for this.
Thanks so much for the info...what I really wanted to see was notes...I've used notebooks for at least 30 years, glad to see a digital that looks like it fits the bill.
My screen record makes unpleasant sound while using s-pen, any recommendation please?
Finally...... Been having second thoughts.... This video made everything clear for me.... Thanks a lot
Thanks to your video, I'm switching from attempting swipe on the tablet to handwriting.
THANK YOU!
how to disable touch input while using s pen so i can rest my palm on screen
getting started with digital art pls!
I'm a stem teacher and I went for the cheaper option. Buy something to do what you need and do not waste money on buying the trendy option that's 3 times more expensive. I correct student writing and read. Plus check for student discounts.
I love how you stress upon not following the crowd and studying the way you want to. I can't imagine how helpful those anatomy drawings would be for you! :D cheers man.
I would love to have an app on android that is an alternative of goodnote 5 !
There might be already, what features exactly are you looking for?
Noteshelf?
I am using Squid. It's got everything I need for my note-taking style.
Noteshelf is a great option, it's the one I use and the developers team are great.
What feature r u looking for ?
I also have this and I like it so much...can you please provide links for the app u used?

Thank you very much for posting this video. I am in the market to purchase a tablet. I am specifically looking that the note taking features and drawing. In this "paperless" world I need digital notes. Laptop is limited and notebooks require physical storage. You answered all of my questions. Thank you.
Brilliant demo. Would you recommend it for highlighting kindle books text? Thanks
I don't actually care if my tablet is an android or ios. I need one for school, writing books, etc.
But two things are really important to me. The camera (I don't want it to be really pixelated). And a good drawing app.
The app "procreate" is suppose to be amazing but sadly only for ios. My question is, is artflow studio as good as procreate or are there any similar apps for android?

Hi, do you use any screen protector or tempered glass? If yes, does it effect on s pen's latency?
Very helpful review! Great help for online classes in med school. I was debating between this and saving up for the tab S7. Rather hesitant because of its Exynos chipset however the 3.5mm jack is a must for those who prefer wired headsets than bluetooth.

Great video! I was really interested in how to work with it in university context and what is possible with the tablet and its stylus.
Amazing possibilities regarding note taking on screen while using Skype/Zoom.
Loved it!
Your voice is so soothing and calming
Great review, do the tablet and pen support palm rejection? How is the note taking process with your hand placed on the screen?
yes
I wish they would update the handwriting to text feature to be so that instead of having to write in a separate text field in the keyboard when you tap the icon it highlights the main text field in the note you are writing on and you continue to write there. Also i wish the text fields could recognize you using the spen the way scribble does with the apple pencil. The extra text field for the input just feels like one more step that can be removed before you input your handwriting
great video, thanks! Please can you do another one about the best apps for note taking on this tablet?
ive been looking for this review for centuries
