Bulk options are always awesome, come on Peterson!
To me cracking the tins are the highlight of my experience, besides the smoke itself. Bulk is cheaper, but also kind of boring. Besides that, I am not able to buy bulk in Denmark, so only tins for me.
I totally agree with you. it is like a ritual for me to open a tin and smell it gently. I can smoke yes. but every time I am at work, or in my car etc. only smelling the tin causes a pleasure, it is like when you prepare coffee. but yeah this, night cap, Cobblestone hiking, are my favorites
Dude! Irish flake in bulk would be an absolute dream come true. Flake could be broken, ends and pieces, etc and I'd still buy it.

This is the way. I like Irish Flake more than Old Dark Fired. Both are top 10 smokes for me though 😁
I used to smoke Royal Yacht all the time. Now Im a Standard Mixture guy. My go to blends are all from Peterson. Great video my friend have a good day.

It’s a perennial classic for a reason . A wonderful blend indeed. The older Murray version had a stronger flavour note (and was better for it IMO). Still great and a pleasure to smoke

@@sonnythepiper just had a bowl with a cup of strong black tea. Devine. However, I do agree with the general consensus that this may not be for the beginner due to high nicotine strength. It’s full, no bullshit tobacco.
I love Royal Yacht since I opened my first tin! To me, it gives me a sweetness smell on the tin. Simply it's a wonderful mix enjoyable every day. Nice vid man. Have a great smokes

I was lucky, I ordered a tin oc Royal Yacht from a local shop here in Victoria BC and received a Dunhill Royal Yacht😊 I want to crack it but I havent yet🎉😊 Nice video, Cheers

I agree. First time I tried this, 40+ years ago, I wasn't a fan. I matured in my pipe smoking and revisited. I liked it but wasn't crazy about it...let it sit several months and WOW. Now it needs a year to round out. Classic Dunhill style blend.

I've only had the Royal Yacht in a 19mm dia. chambered bowl. It didn't really do it for me, mind you I haven't spent a lot of time with it. Wonder if a larger bowl like yours there would make a difference. Cheers
Edit/ Update: Sonny, you inspired me to pack a bowl of the Royal Yacht for my morning pipe today. I smoked approx. 1/3 of the bowl and then let it sit for 3 hours while I did chores. The relight was really good.
I read somewhere ( maybe GL Pease) that Va blends greatly benefit from the ole "delayed gratification technique". I've been doing this with all my VA, VaPer smokes over the last couple months and have noticed the flavours blossoming and becoming more full and complex. I especially like doing this with Amphora Va. Its become one of my favorite smokes lately.
Absolutely! Virginias definitely do well with that technique. I think of it as giving them a little slap on the wrist to get them to settle the hell down. Lol

Sonny you are the clubber lang of pipe tobacco. Royal yacht is great and I always heard it was “super nicotine strong” as well. It’s also one of the FEW straight Virginia shag cuts from a gourmet manufacturer. Thanks for the content. It makes me content.

Love this. To me, the strength brings burley to mind even though there's none in it! It is addictive 😂 after i opened the first tin, i smoked nothing else for the couple of days it took to empty... keep er lit!

I enjoy alot of different blends. The only blend I love and is my regular as in have some almost everyday is exclusive. I'll smoke it exclusively for days at a time then change up with a latakia blend or maybe sterling flake. Dark birds eye is my number 2 that gets the most time in bowl.
Those are definitely good calls. (Minus the Latakia 😜)

I think it isn’t plum, but rum (I read it somewhere) anyways, this is one of my favorite bland out of the tin. This blend helped me transition out of aromatics. (Because it’s not REALLY that aromatic). Its strength and flavor is truly amazing. Nowadays I also use this to serve as the base in my own blends.

Have you tried the Amphora offerings from MB? I think Virginia, Kentucky, and burley all punch way above their weight

Should make them in 3Ps tins at least. I got that thing and this little nugget of smoke tumbled out. A 2" tall tin and 80% of it is paper and air.
I bought some and tried it on and off but I never liked it. That topping is really bad to me. What we are in agreeance on is that Irish Flake needs to be sold in bulk like yesterday!
I was curious if this would be the one blend you dont like (believe it or not, some people dont). I am a very picky smoker and this is by far my favorite. There is about 6 others i enjoy but if it were not for royal yacht i probably wouldn’t even smoke. FYI Pipes and Cigars has Royal Yacht on sale sometimes for about $13 and they always have 15% coupons you can put on top of that.

I haven’t had it, but I need to buys a few tins. I think they don’t sell in bulk because that’s all anyone would buy and deplete their margins. But that’s a guess.

There are few pipe tobaccos I can't stand, Royal Yuck is one of them. It's really good at first but there's an after taste that just ruins it for me and it ruins my pipes! No more for me.

I may have to try this one again. I really disliked this one when I tried it 4 or 5 years ago, but tastes change so it may be worth a revisit.
