I believe when he was talking about the piano shortening analogy to that of the vocal chords he was referring to concept of zipping up the chords as we go higher, which is a concept he has persisted with for many years, which they have now figured out that zipping is not the case unless people do whistle voice. Seth for many years believed that zipping occurred if we went from chest to head voice.
@ 3:00 The vocal chords DO actually zip up and shorten, just not until around high C for tenors. Seth thought this happens earlier as you go into mix-voice, but vocal science shows it to be much later.
