    Old school way to set timing without a timing light. Engine at operating temp, in gear, lock brakes, full throttle against stall. Advance the timing until it just starts to ping. That is the extreme timing setting. Back it off a cat hair and lock it down. On a standard, same procedure but you need to lug the motor in high gear, so there is more back-and-forth.

    You are right on about junk in the line. The ethanol gas scours silt and anything else off the inside of the fuel lines. You can chase that forever but the lines need to be replaced stem to stern. Don't forget to check inside the fuelk pump as well as there are nooks and crannies that hold junk that comes loose.

    Great stuff Sir,
    You are making me itch for my own engine swap. I am replacing the 460 for a 351 I found in a salvage yard. Junk yard finds can still be good luck but I have a lot of work ahead. Fortunately this engine has never seen Ethanol fuel. I have friends that cry for the Sniper and HEI but I don't mind setting points and adjusting the carb. Riding my 65 Panhead from home in Montana to Washington DC for Rolling Thunder meant taking three sets of jets/needles and adjusting the float as I dropped elevation. Few people consider elevation change when tuning and running any engine, now you have to watch where you buy fuel? Makes a body miss the good OLD days!
    Good luck Gentlemen! With Respect and Love, You are in my prayers
    Hoka Hey

    • @rockabillychavez
      @rockabillychavez  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's awesome. You should definitely do the engine swap if that's what you want. 1 hour a day is all it takes. 1 hour a day is 7 hours in a week and can be more on the weekend. So, at the end of the week, you have a full day of progress. Good luck, thanks for watching
