Wow, love watching this. Im so inspired and want to learn and get this good one day. I watch videos all the time even when I have my Granddaughter on Saturdays. She wants to learn to quilt too. I told her she will get one of my machines in about 3 years. She loves watching. She is 4 now.
I so want her to love it as much as I do. My daughter has never liked anything about sewing. So this fills my heart.
Thank you for being an inspiration. Im still practicing the butterflies but soon hope to join in on building my portfolio.

Your right about everything, Adria....I guess there are piecers and quilters, my quilting journey has been exactly like yours. You are an inspiration every day to me, so far I refuse to do computerize quilting because to me it just isn't fun and challenging. I started quilting when I retired and I am never bored, thanks to you.

I wish I could convince some of my quilting buddies to join me on this journey. I have been quilting for just over a year and I have greatly improved. Someone who started when I did and then gave up now praises my work and I say you could do it too, it just takes doodling and practice. I have practiced about 30 mins to an hour a day and I am very pleased with my results. My feathers are very pretty. You are right, you have to push yourself. I have made a lot of placemats and charity quilts. It is very encouraging to see the change over the years.

What an inspiring video. I’ve only started making quilts about 14 months ago, but sent them out for edge to edge. Now, I just purchased a used hand guided Innova which was just delivered Wednesday. Watching your other videos are so mesmerizing and I love your background music, too. I so needed this!!! I have done quilting on my domestic machine, then a sit down quilter. Achieved getting better with both. I was then gifted a long arm because of helping with Quilts of Valor and Foster home quilts. I just started working with it and teaching myself to quilt standing up, and learning to move the machine and not the quilt.

Thank you for sharing the humble beginnings of your long arming journey, Adria! I hope you know just how meaningful it is to us “newbies” to see that even the pros at one time weren’t. Your transformation from newbie to pro was truly inspiring. I have two quilts under my belt on my long arm and I can already see a difference. Your first quilts definitely look like mine, especially the feathers! So, I guess I’m on my way! Lol.
I was wondering, how much time do you take in deciding “what” to put on quilt and if you have “process” that you use or do you just “wing it”? I’ve starting doing some drawing to plan my path, such as “how” to turn corners in the borders. Oddly enough it has to increase my creativity and forced to my think differently. I’m almost wondering if taking a drawing corse would be helpful though. Lol. Thanks again for sharing pictures of your early journey. It gives me hope.

You are such an inspiration! I bought my first quilt machine, an HQ Avante almost 10 years ago. I also got the computerized system. Even though I’ve taken courses from many free motion quilters; i.e. Jamie Wallen, Angela Walters, etc. and my mentor and best friend was one of the first HandiQuilter Educators, I didn’t allow myself to practice on my free motion skills. I couldn’t stand that they didn’t look perfect like the computerized designs, and I was very hard on myself thus I always gravitated back to the computer. I really regret that now. I just signed up for one of your online courses and am looking forward to allowing myself the time to practice and improve my free motion work. Thank you! ❤️
