      You know what… I definitely agree as I I have driven a 3sg powered Toyota and while it pulled awesome, the gear head on me felt the ratio could have been a little more pleasant if it was tweaked a little so wow atleast what I suspected wasn’t cuz I was biased to Honda LOL!
      Same with the 2zz a swap I’ve driven reminded me how a B18c pulls

    Keyword is "Powerband" ❤️ that is why i always encourage friends to go to the dyno (at least for the one who want to get a bit more serious) and at least have a base run to have an idea kahit street tuned pa yan.

      YES!!! even that "term" barely exists now "powerband" so sad... and i agree on even just a baserun big help sha... i wanted to say in the vid but i forgot 🤣 that
      If someone says u need this or 4.7 is better? ask them why cuz 99.9% of the time all theyd say is "cuz of the" ...final drive 🙃

  • @TrackSol
    @TrackSol 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Great overview about gear ratios and powerband/dyno graph. Would be interesting to see analysis of gear ratio from 4.4 trans with the final drive changed to 4.7.

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Actually that is my fav 😂 I didn’t wish to lengthen the vid but I was meaning to say those who have a 4.4 maybe sell it to those in 4.2 and this let’s u upgrade ur final drive to 4.7 from Mfactory and still keep a closer ratio
      The analysis is the same as the 4.4 as the gear drops remain the same just u gon gun it quicker 😎

    I just picked up what's supposed to be a GSR hydro transmission. Is there a 100% definite way to distinguish the GSR from a LS transmission? Unfortunately my transmission doesn't have the bar code sticker or any other identification information. The guy I bought it off of said that the RPMs in 5th gear matched up to what people stated that a gsr transmission should be running in 5th but idk how to verify for sure. I've had people tell me to count the teeth on the ring gear but I'm not sure to be honest. I'm not a transmission guy but I know engines lol. Thanks for any help, information etc.

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think yeah an LS 5th is longer
      u could prolly get it into 5th gear and count the axle rotation to the diff rotation but would be easier to remove the cover and count gears
      The dseries tranny videos I have here I counted the gear ratios = that’s the same way u can do it and same math

    For years I tried so hard to explain this to people. Everyone claims the 4.7 is better. But the 4.4 has less lag and closes the gap hard between 3rd to 4th. Even in bestmotoring scenarios when they compared the 96 and 98 type R. The 96 itr closes the gap 3rd to 4th gear.

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Changing to a 4.7 just depends on a lot of things like I’ve shown on the video… does the powerband require it? Is the rpm high enough to take advantage of?
      SiR has a similar CTR gear ratio which means the ITR 4.4 to have better ratio not the final drive the gears itself 3rd 4th and 5th

    One question i have after watching your video on the importance of using all the available torque in every gear is why guys would run ultra short gears. It seems max torque drops off well before max hp so if you have short gears your torque would drop off too soon especially after 8 8.5 k rpm. Also whats the best budget clone style header out there? Thanks boss!

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      True on max torque but it’s a fine line to decide on just like let’s say a cbr1000RR bike would easily whoop a d16 that has 600cc more even with less torque cuz rpm :)
