    Also. A video tutorial for how to set up automated shipping on both bricklink and brick owl would be a massive watch for me personally. So I'm sure they a lot of others too😂😂

      What do you mean by automated? Automated calculation of shipping? Automated transfer of shipping details to your postage provider?

    Really interesting mate - I'm been tempted to do a bit of lego selling myself, but have ventured into it yet. Have an awesome day!💥From Fun At Home (Hot Wheels, Lego, Cards, Stamps & collectables)👍

    I think the cost price on the royal mail claim form is how much its worth (ie how much you've sold it for) Thats that I always put down anyway and its never been a problem - Cheers for the order too

      No, it's very much a "cost price" based on previous discussions I have had with them. May be it's a business account thing but they only want to pay you what it cost you and not what you sold it for. I have had to explain how it's impossible to provide evidence of purchase when this isn't how it's about (as a minifigure that is).

    Norwegian orders now need to be digitally pre-notified, so lots of sellers have stopped selling there.

    • @BrickArena
      @BrickArena  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      What does the pre-notification involve? I have just been adding the VOEC number and all seems fine. Not had any complaints or undelivered mail.

      @@BrickArena I don't know as I'm one of the stores who stopped shipping there. The Brick Owl site updates thread notified us of the change in January. It's no longer enough to write the VOEC number on the packaging. I suppose it's similar to the EU digital pre-notification.

    I often wonder why there are so many complaints against Royal Mail, then I watch / meet people who have to deal with service on a regular basis and I stop wondering….
    Sorting: I adopt your system, 1x2 plates / 2x2 / etc. And speaking of sorting, I was curious just how much Lego I have, so I did a little reorganising, a bit of counting, and some very dodgy extrapolation (which in my scientific day job I would not let myself get away with) and came up with a figure. Which was a bit of a shock to be honest (to borrow someone’s catch phrase 😀) because I knew I had a lot but I think the figure seems to be about 250K. Certainly explains why the room is full….
    And it doesn’t help that I went to my local Sainsbury’s this afternoon (well I say “local”, that one was closed by the parent company, but it’s still often quicker to drive to that one than to go to the local Tesco and wait a significant time in checkout queues - easier to park as well, anyway I digress) and picked up two of the new City Space sets (60430) on discount (£5 off per set) and discovered that Lego has released a new colour; reddish orange. So that’s a new space needed to be labelled….
    Okay, now on to music news on the KDDK music appreciation channel.
    BCC IV finally showed up! Don’t know how I missed this in 2017 but have it now (I think shortly after its release Joe B. decided he didn’t want to do it anymore - a decision for which he has subsequently apologised to the fans for). Anyway, given it a couple of plays and it is good album, but “solid” rather than a true classic (in my humble opinion, but what do I know?). Be interesting to compare it with V in June.
    Following on from my Mike Oldfield retrospective last week, I picked up the 50th anniversary edition of Tubular Bells (Amazon order add on to get the free shipping); I’d heard from others that he had embraced dance music and there is a bonus track on this release that certainly goes down that route. Interesting listen, I wonder what true electronic dance fans think?
    And this, plus my fiancé listening to some modern classical sent me down a rabbit hole about music categorisation, specifically how do you differentiate between modern classical and 70s prog, as some of the modern stuff (particularly anything keyboard based) would sit right at home on any Yes album 70 - 76, or anything by Dream Theatre.
    And finally, also prompted by my beloved, though this time she was listening to a podcast, I didn’t know “Cat Scratch Fever” is an actual medical affliction and not just a euphemism dreamed up by Ted Nugent. Umm, don’t think I’ve got that in my collection 😀.
    Right, time to wrap this up (though I still think we should see some of those guitars of yours getting some airtime) and as for going through ticket stubs, seems perfectly normal to me 😁.

      I'm usually a reasonable advocate of Royal Mails and think overall their service is hard to beat. Thankfully I don't have too many issues, but this one rankled me. It may be that its eBay being too keen to refund, but would be good if they and Royal Mail could align.
      250K is quite a collection of parts for someone who is not a seller. Sorting and storing that amount of parts is a challenge. The soaring itself can be therapeutic, but also draining at times. Must be a challenge having the space for the music as well as your music collection. Thats what I am battling with at the moment. Not being able to have all my vinyl, Cd's, tapes and videos surrounding me and I'm really missing it at the moment.
      So I guess that leads me nicely to the KDDK segment of the week. It's been a mix of all sorts this week, but all mostly mainstream Classic Rock/metal- listened to the new Judas Priest Album, and Freak Kitchen had a new single out today that I was keen to listen to. Not classic FK but still not bad. Listened to some things inspired by my tickets stubs, like the 1st Iron Maiden album, Dio era Sabbath etc. But have also been listening to a good bit of It Bites/Francis Dunnery stuff. Also been watching some of his TH-cam stuff. He's an interesting but slightly mad individual. As for BCC, I must say I've not been the biggest fan of there's. Even Mrs Brick Arena, who is the biggest GH fan likes BCC the least of his projects. Seen them a couple of times but more under sufferance than anything. We were meant to see Mr Big this week but pulled out as Eric Martin announced he was having to bring in a guest singer to help him out as his vocals are so bad from all the touring.
      Genres are tough, I spend a lot of time thinking about them when trying to organise my collection. Especially tough when a band moves through differing genres throughout their career. Something to maybe dive into more in the future. Another topic to add to that future music related channel I keep talking about :)

    great video as usaul, always lovely to watch the vlog !, i had a question about the book keeping part:" i started doing it every month as you suggested and it worked weel. but how do you lkeep track of the paypal fee? becuase now the time i gained by downloading the orders and copy paste is lost as i have to go back into paypal and look at every orders fee. do you just calculate 3.9 % at the end of each month ? and the orders that are 5% well just dont worry about them or do you have some other method ? because it must be really time consuming for you

    • @BrickArena
      @BrickArena  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Glad you're continuing to enjoy the vlogs. As for your question, there's a much simpler and time efficient way of managing this. You just need to go to your Paypals reports section under the statement and click the request button for the particular month in question. The statement will provide a summary of the PayPal account for that month which will include the total fees for that month.
      So, you record the sale as per the Bricklink download, expenses incurred i.e. Postage from your bank account (or possibly PayPal) and your fees from the PayPal statement. Hope that helps.

    The boxes toastracked as shown at 22:22, where do you get these from as I've looked at similar in the past and the clips seems flimsy

      They are made by "Wham" which they call organisers. I love them. Really useful and surprising what you can get in them.

    How do you discern the price of each piece for your store? Let the platform ai or by purchase price ect? Genuinely curious and nothing but that intended in my question. Thanks!!

    • @BrickArena
      @BrickArena  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Bricklink provides sales data on the average price sold for over the last 6 months. Most sellers use this as a basis for their pricing.

    - - Strangely, I've had more orders and bigger one's than usual this weekend ㄟ( ▔, ▔ )ㄏ
    I have about half the parts and similar lots to your store if your curious:)

      Thats not so strange. Item count means very little and there are tons of factors that determine whether we get orders or not.
