    Thanks for sharing!! I’m just a guy who can’t afford his Lego hobby and have resorted to the bricks/sets that Dollar Tree sells. I’ve had some older sets (80’s) that I’ve sold and paid for my new purchases. This got me thinking about doing this on a small scale. My time management sucks so I’ll never be able to grow it to a full time gig without making a mess of my life but I do watch for deals at garage sales and thrift stores. I just got a 10-12 set lot for $30 that I can probably sell for $120+. It will be a slow turn around as I complete the sets, build them, photograph and post them to sell but it will teach me different techniques and part usage as the lots have sets I would never buy on their own. Your video was encouraging and helpful even for me as some of it applies regardless of the scale you are trying but/sell at. Keep at it! We’ll keep watching. Thanks.

      For sure! If you wanna just do it for the fun and to fund the hobby, I think that’s totally valid!

    i LOVE these tips because im starting on basically the opposite end of the spectrum. ive been selling locally but cant move some sets so I decided to part out sets I cant move as opposed to trying to just break even or get 5$ profit. thank you for the advice

    Thanks for sharing. Lots of great content for those thinking of getting into lego reselling.

    Great suggestions. Going with used Lego to start will get your reselling started much faster. Buying already retired sets and pieces will make them have value and limit the competition. I sell primarily new sets with a little bit of used. My biggest reason for selling new is sourcing time.

    • @TravisMarsala
      @TravisMarsala  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Huge factor. I seem to not have trouble finding used bins, so sourcing time is pretty low. But if new is faster, that’s something to keep in mind.

    New vs used is good advice. New is much easier to part out, but you'll end up with the same parts as 1,000 other stores, as you said. Over time it'll work out but you're going to be waiting awhile or significantly dropping your prices to sell parts.

    I agree with you thoughts on the BL muggles. What if they updated the site to simplify the shopping and check out process. Do you think the user base would grow?

    I recommend doing used. Horrible when a customer that bought used but expects brand new. If you part sets you will never have to deal with that.

    How do you find all those garage sale? I can find them when they post signs outside on the roads, but is there a better way?

    • @TravisMarsala
      @TravisMarsala  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      There's an app called Yard Sale Treasure Map. It's by no-means comprehensive, but it can help you get started. Otherwise, Facebook, Craigslist, etc have a section for garage sales.

    how much do you earn per year via selling LEGO? Or, if this info is not ok to share, what could one earn, if they work as much as you do, with selling LEGO trough bricklink? I have 5 tons of lego bricks (5000 kg), and I am in process of buying 40 tons more (40.000 kg). I have 40.000 minifigs fully equipemd etc, tens of millions of parts, that is why I ask.

    • @TravisMarsala
      @TravisMarsala  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Think of it this way… if you have 40,000 minifigs and worst case scenario, they’re only worth $1 a piece, you have $40,000 of inventory. Now you and I both know there are figs worth way more than $1.

    • @TravisMarsala
      @TravisMarsala  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That said - you gotta enjoy the process. This is not a get rich quick scheme. It can be long, tedious, and frustrating sometimes.

    I took a few years off from BL (branched out into antique centers) but I am back and starting fresh, so thank you for this.
    I found that joining FB Lego resell groups do well. Especially for minifigs that I got great deals on, I could sell items immediately which was nice.

    good advice on there, there is a couple of community, servers and whatnot but we generraly do not accept everyone as we only want people that are really interested in the business and actually like lego. we dont want any of those folks that start reselling lego just because they saw someone do it. there is also a hole underground market between sellers who buys and sell lego internally to each other in order to get the best prices and stock quickly. for example i supply some store in the USA from europe becuase it is much cheaper

    I think the lego as it is waste of time. The best way to make money is minifugres there is a lot of money to made.
