    Might I make a suggestion to ride with suitable riding boots with a heel. A dear friend of mine was an experienced rider and one day went for a ride on her friend’s horse without wearing proper foot gear was unseated and dragged in circles by the horse. She was life lifted by helicopter to a big main trauma hospital to under go treatment and surgery. Love that you are saving horses.

    Bless you for saving them. You will always be their hero and saviour!! I find it really hard to see the auction process but I also think people should be exposed to the realities of it. The segments you showed were very tame compared to many horrors. Being an avid equestrian and die hard horse lover for my entire life, knowing how incredibly intuitive and sensitive they are. I can only imagine how terrifying the process from the moment they are dumped off and abandoned by their human, to a terrifying hell hole like that, surrounded by uncaring strangers, not to even mention the fate of too many after that. I'm hoping I heard wrong but I thought you said that the 'cribber' was dumped there for that reason. That is beyond disgusting. Yes, it's not the greatest habit but what a pathetic excuse to sentence your horse to such a horrific end. I think you said the kill buyer got him. My stomach sunk.
    I'm really curious to see how the white horse comes along once he's put on some muscle and gets some mileage under his girth, he may surprise you. He's really pretty. Keep up the great work!!

    Thank you for the video! In the white one at the end it seems his left front leg is stepping differently maybe to compensate for the swollen right hock🤷🏻‍♀️🙏🏻 I’m learning.

    Why why why are you not wearing a helmet and protective vest? Especially with horse's you just bought from auction, you don't know their background. You could get seriously hurt or killed... please wear a helmet. I'm saying this because I don't want you hurt or killed! You even said in your video "Always wear a helmet". And thank you for saving these horse's. The white one looks like a fox trotter or Tennessee walker. I like the little black one he seems well trained.

    I was thinking the black horse is used to a which directs the horse to move by cheek pressure versus mouth pressure. Next time you see a horse with such high "neck reining" you probably should try that sort of a bit on him. Take care. Love that you're rescuing horses.

    Can you check put his front left leg. When you were riding him his leg looked like his knee was weak and his leg bone almost looked like it was slanting inward as he walked. Maybe it's a weight issue if being thin or a hooves issue but it just was not a normal walk and even looked like it was maybe painful. Thank you for saving him and the other sweet soul!

    Why not wait a week until after the farrier and a dental check?!?
    Just checking.

    LOL I can't help but get a laugh at the way they turn their heads when they are broke and the trainer does the testing. It's like the horse is saying "ah human, you are doing it wrong, put the other leg over too."

    It's hard for me to watch this rider without a helmet. My disbelief at her comment that she recommends helmets, I don't know what to make of it. Is it just me?

    • @rhfarmstables
      @rhfarmstables  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We always recommend helmets. Occasionally our riders take a calculated risk and choose not to wear one depending on the horse/activity, but it is always the preferred option.

    • @Groundedsquirrel
      @Groundedsquirrel 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you for your response. I don't know how to ask this without sounding rude. What is the risk being taken in exchange for? They are horses you don't know, have not attempted to ride before, and young people / beginning riders are most likely watching, so you're not setting a good example in my opinion. It's hard for me to understand as someone who had a life-changing riding injury while wearing a crappy broken helmet.

      @@rhfarmstables from one rescue to another, education is as big a part of what we do as the rescue/rehab. For instance, the way you educated folks on the way the kill buyers work and encouraging people not to buy from them as it just lines their pockets is wonderful. So I think wearing helmets in your videos to teach impressionable younger riders or adult novices that are watching should be a big part of your message. Rescue horses are unpredictable at best, dangerous at worst and there is no calculated risk that is worth not wearing one, no matter how experienced you are. You have even more responsibility as a rescue to show correct and safe horsemanship.

    The white one looks like it could be a Tennessee walker look at the way it’s tail is but an old Tennessee walker. Wonder what the feet look like Green broke means not too broke. I had one of them once threw me in a puddle of water.

    Whats the difference of a gated horse?

    • @rhfarmstables
      @rhfarmstables  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Gaited horses have other movements besides walk/trot/canter/gallop. It differs based on breed but they have a movement that looks like a running walk

    I would of pitched a fit for the auctioneer giving the horse to a kill buyer over me when it was the same price!!! They never even gave you a chance to up your bid, how disgusting as they know the kill buyers from the rescuers! All rescues would win the bids if I were the auctioneer, so I could sleep at night! Where are people's conscience anymore? *shaking head*

    • @rhfarmstables
      @rhfarmstables  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Gemini, we agree! Oftentimes online bids get overlooked. When we are in person they purposely raise the bid if they see we are interested!

      @@rhfarmstables Nasty people! How can they slept at night? *shaking head* What harm to the auctioneer is it if the bid is tied? He still gets his money! Clean money too, not blood money!! I have been watching other rescues and you are so right about the kill buyers doing this so your organization runs out of money quickly. Leaving them the rest to clean up on dirt cheap! That's were if would be great to have a donator there with deep pockets so foil their plans! LOL Many Blessings for all workers at your organization for giving me some hope in humanity making it.
