Thank you John, I found this so interesting. When Michael wanted to pursue this career path our mother sent him to a voice teacher and he came back after the first lesson and said that he wasn't going to go again because she was going to ruin what he felt he was doing naturally right for him.
Michael had a one of kind voice and one of kind charisma and frontman. There will never be another like your brother Michael. May he RIP with the angels. I love you Michael 😞🙏😢
Aussie royalty - a legend...and we have so few of them. I remember being six years old and my much older brother and sister bought the livebabylive VHS tape. We turned down the lights, made some popcorn and sat there slack jawed watching it. Still got that tape too!
My entire life shattered and my heart broke when he died. His voice was one of a kind. I had just seen them live at Chastain in Atlanta. I still cry, I miss everything about Michael Hutchence.
I absolutely love this!! Michael always has been and continue to be the best front man ever !!! Im still heartbroken over the loss of him. Thank you for this recognition of our beloved HUTCH!!!
How good are INXS! Michael had the X Factor - the voice, the performance, the swave. Guys just living it and loving it! It great to here about the technical aspects to Michael’s voice.
My favorite band and man. If I'm being objective, they were one of the best live bands I ever saw. If I'm being biased, they were hands down THE best. They always delivered live. From what I remember, he never had formal training as a singer either and could still do this. What's sad, is that he never thought he was an amazing singer. But oh my god, his voice , especially that "whisper" can send chills up my spine and just make you feel it to your toes. My god, I miss him.
Thank you for this video! It's long over due for Michael & INXS to get the love and respect they deserve. This was the second song of the night, and he sounds this great to the end. I got to see this tour, so fantastic!!! Michael and Andrew wrote so many hits, and over 300 songs, why are they not in the Rock n' Roll hall of fame?
My idol Michael Hutchence.... thank you so much for doing this, MH was complete star quality and a utter rock god with a voice to die for, a total one off..!! Never will be another like him.
True. No wonder other lead singers wanted to be like him. I saw an interview with Michael Stipe recently, and he is still just in awe of him all these years later.
Yes i totally agree! The best voice ever! What a shame he didnt see himself or see himself the way everybody else did! Its so hard to believe and.sad he.didnt realise how exceptional he was!! He was very humble and a bit shy some people say. I dont he died deliberately either it was an accident. Misadventure Such dazzling stars often have short lives like the 27 club did
One thing I’ve come to appreciate about Michael is his PHRASING of lyrics. It’s effortless & you can’t replicate it. He also does this “talk-sing” thing that’s like his signature. Kind of reminds me of how (ahem) SINATRA would do it. Michael is surely missed especially in light of today’s singers who rely on AUTOTUNE (Michael didn’t. Wasn’t available back then I think). RIP to a great soul
John, may I suggest reviewing and reacting to Hutch's performance of "The Stairs" from the same concert. I have a feeling you would get goosebumps because the delivery has the exact effect that it was meant to create.
The version of my favorite all time vocal performance by MH (The Stairs) is the one vocal that feel short for me at Wembley, because he sounded a bit strained and he changed it a 'bit'. Amazing is the live taped performance of this song at I believe Paramount Studios on UT.
Great reaction! I saw INXS live twice and Michael was pitch perfect both nights. I mean he had a few spots where he added some emotional rawness on purpose, but otherwise... Perfection. Of all the bands I've seen live (I was a live junkee in my younger years) I have to say Michael Hutchence and Bono (more so pre-Achtung Baby era) were the two most dynamic singers that connected to the audience in such a powerful way... Sometimes running (maybe prancing in Hutchence's case) from stage left to right and at other moments standing perfectly still and holding a hand up to the audience.. Both just connected to their audience like no other singers I've seen. MH was a special talent.
That concert was legendary. They were at their absolute best! Saw this in theaters in December 2019 and it was amazing. It was like traveling back in time. ❤️ many people in the audience wore INXS t-shirts and everyone was standing up and dancing. This was a few months before covid. I ordered the Blu-ray Disc and watch it at home. Love it! Brings back so many memories. The band is and still is legendary. Michael left way too soon.
I love your description of his voice as that is exactly how it should be described. You also nailed the description of Michael himself. He was and will always be my absolute favorite rock God because he indeed had it ALL!!!!!!
Incredible to find the reaction of a real vocal coach nowadays specially about this sometimes underated band. They was great and the singer trully fantastic a real charismatic frontman. Thanks!!
Hi. Of all the performances that I was able to see Michael's live, in none of them did I notice that he went out of tune with a single lyric in his songs, he was simply a gifted singer and a methodical perfectionist.
Best opening!!! INXS in their heyday!!! Michael Hutchence truly the best. Bono said that Michael's voice was like a 12-string guitar, when everyone else is a 6-string.
Thank you for this. I absolutely love the smile on your face as you were listening.. I think alot of people have the same reaction including myself. I always loved Michael Hutchence's voice, always will . It's so rich and strong. A true rock god gone way too soon
I was always amazed how good they sound on live performance. Especially Michael`s voice felt fullfilled with an amazing energy and vitality. It`s like when you taste a very good dish you don`t exactly know what is there like ingridients and recipe but it tastes just great. That was I used to feel regarding INXS and Michael performance!
Thank you for that! I've been listening to INXS since the mid 80s, and I knew Michael had an amazing voice, but it's great to hear your explanation and confirmation :-) Very interesting to hear the details of the ease in which he sings so smoothly. Miss him so much
What first caught my attention of INXS, certainty their great tight sound, but is was 'the singer', I had never heard anyone sound so unique, on the song Original Sin.
Thank you so much for this! I was just recently in a discussion with someone about Michael's voice. Trying to explain why I think Michael had such a great voice with a big range. You explained it perfectly. Thank you!!
EFFFFFINGGGG BRILLLIANT!!!!! An amazing vocalist, powerful singer, and a sexy brilliant intriguing delicious voice ❤️😁😍. What my EAR HEARS... is what is said here in BETTER words😁😊🙃👍 (Came back to fix my spelling lol...getting new glasses post quarantine 😉)
His voice was exceptional, and so was the man. He can belt them out, but he can also sing the more slower songs like " Side by Side " and Never tear us a part.
This is one of my favourite albums, I'm generally a 70s rock fan and when I pull this record out people I always...... Really? And then I play it and then there...... I forgot how good they we're, and Michael's voice.... Wow!
TH-cam suggestions brought me here. I don't understand much at all about music, just drawn in by where music takes me on a ride. John, loved your energy and explanation of what Michael was doing.... Gives me a higher appreciation for Michael. This thick headed guy that doesn't understand music learned some things today. Peace!

Awesome analysis of Michael's singing. He was really special. And he's missed. Such a great frontman.
I know what you mean.. In my head I think I can sing like Michael Hutchence but no way, man..impossible. Great video, John..This was the 2nd song of the night so I think Michael was pacing himself for what was at that time their biggest gig. Personally I think Michael showcases his best vocal ability live when singing What You Need. Cheers
I've subscribed because you're not just reacting to new popular singers but the old ones as well. I mean... yeah, I am hooked on watching people react to Dimash *but* it's also wonderful to see singers like this (and Steve Perry, George Michael, Freddie, etc.) get their continued due. Love it and am so glad to have found your channel ❤
Great video. I highly recommend doing an analysis video for INXS performing Never Tear Us Apart at Live Baby Live which showcases some of Michael's best vocal performances. It really is breathtaking.
I remember about twenty years ago going on a bit of a pub adventure with my mate's partner in Richmond (Victoria, Australia). She was deaf. We went past the house where Dogs in Space was shot. It was very difficult for me to communicate the significance of the dwelling considering I had limited sign language. For some reason, I will never forget that.
that`s true Michael never sounded boring, his every live performance had its special thing and was so expressive, a real story telling with the signing
This concert was amazing. I found your channel today on his 62nd birthday . TFS . His voice will resonate through my house all day today RIP Michael. 🙏🙏🇦🇺🇦🇺
Hi John. Thank you for this commentary. What a voice! Can I ask you a question? Is Michaels voice demonstrating belting, twanging while in a lower larynx position when he sings and performs? Is there any similarities in his vocal expression to Jim Morrison (not the genre)?
Us teachers would soooo appreciate a video on tips/strategies to prevent vocal burnout. I use my optimal pitch and try to avoid speaking too loudly (especially now that we're online), but my folds and vocal system still feel tired after just 3 hours of classes.
Loved your reaction/ analysis. INXS is one of my all time favorite bands. Could you please do a reaction to Nightwish, Ghost Love Score (live at Wacken 2013 is the best)? Nightwish is a Finnish metal band, and their lead singer, Floor Jansen, is one of the best singers working today. She must be heard to be believed.
Michael definitely put Australia on the music map. Don't know if you've ever heard of John Farnham but he is another Australian treasure; I highly recommend you check out his live version of Help with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.th-cam.com/video/dv54giOSRKs/w-d-xo.html Then you have the Jimmy Barnes and John Farnham duo with When Something Is Wrong With My Baby also featuring Johnny Diesel: th-cam.com/video/oTwqAeQR0rE/w-d-xo.html Jimmy Barnes is lead singer of another well known Aussie and called Cold Chisel whilst his brother in law Johhny Diesel (Mark Lizotte) is a solo singer in his own right. Hi Christina, thank you for watching my reaction! You brother knew what was best for his voice, obviously! He is a joy to listen to.
Michael had a one of kind voice and one of kind charisma and frontman. There will never be another like your brother Michael. May he RIP with the angels. I love you Michael 😞🙏😢

So very sorry for your loss, Christina. Much love to you and your family. He was a huge loss to us fans, but an awful loss for you. xx
What a Majestic voice your Brother had !
My entire life shattered and my heart broke when he died. His voice was one of a kind. I had just seen them live at Chastain in Atlanta. I still cry, I miss everything about Michael Hutchence.
One of those rare singers that no one else sounds like.
God, he was special. Never Tear Us Apart at this concert was simply amazing.
were you there?
I absolutely love this!! Michael always has been and continue to be the best front man ever !!! Im still heartbroken over the loss of him. Thank you for this recognition of our beloved HUTCH!!!
Great to see a reaction of Michael Hutchence - he was truly an exceptional singer and performer. 👍
@mags jay He was world huge.
I remember when Bono said back in the 80's that Michael was the best rock voice out there.
Bono and Hutch are 2 of the coolest men to touch this planet imo
Thanks John! It's been 4 years I think it's time for a INXS reaction again 😉🔥❤️
How good are INXS!
Michael had the X Factor

He was the last rockstar.❤️
My idol Michael Hutchence.... thank you so much for doing this, MH was complete star quality and a utter rock god with a voice to die for, a total one off..!! Never will be another like him.

I searched for vocal coach reactions to INXS specifically to see what would be said about Michael's technique. Thanks!
Such a great choice of someone to pay homage to John. Thank you.
John, may I suggest reviewing and reacting to Hutch's performance of "The Stairs" from the same concert. I have a feeling you would get goosebumps because the delivery has the exact effect that it was meant to create.
The Stairs was amazing at Wembley!
Omg, YES!!! The definitive version of the song, and so underbelievably underrated!!
The Stairs one of my favs
Yesss!!! Michael sounds stunning singing the stairs at wembley. Love love love it!

John you are so point on with Michael’s voice. He was one of a kind definitely.
Simply the best frontman in the history of music. He had it all. Name me a better one
I agree 100 percent
I've seen the Stones, Jagger is v good
I know I’m 3 years late 😂 but Dave Gahan is right up there IMO
Freddie. Period.

His voice was like a waterfall. Missed dearly.
Hands down The Greatest Rockstar to ever exist! Rip Hutch, you are missed so deeply..
I totally agree with everything written above. My fav song is Searching.❤
Agree!
And he sounds great without autotune LIVE. Real musicians here.
Excelent! 👏👏 Such a great AND talented singer Michael. Missing not forgotten 😢

This was so much fun to watch. Thank you for doing this for one of my favourite singer-songwriters and artists ever and for doing it so damn well.
so proud not wroning myself back then in 1991)))) Michael really still is a Rock God!
guys used to sound so great live, I remember their Wembley 1991 performance watching on tv, I was literally fascinating by Michael`s voice power

Their rendition of the song The Loved One , from this same concert is also as they say "Worth the price of admission alone".
When hes bouncing around, and realises he wont hit certain notes, he changes pitch/...and still makes every note perfect....
This video brought me such joy. INXS are one of my favorite bands, and this performance is so incredible. Thank you for your fun and passionate video!
My forever RockGod Michael Hutchence. Thank you so much for this video x
The True Rock Star- RIP
Please check out his voice on the song (Searching , live in aspen 1997) it will blow your mind
He really brought this song to life compared to how it sounds on the music video. Good to see you appreciate it which it deserves.
Michael ❤❤, une légende dotée d'une voix incomparable. Il rythme les paroles et la musique 🎶🎶🎶🎶
RIP Michael. Much love ❤️
UNIQUE VOCAL...INCREDIBLE...

God bless Michael Hutchence
Estaria feliz de saber como se lo recuerda x buen cantante y compositor,Bono dijo q Michael nunca supo la gran voz q tenia
When he got to "hate baby hate" he hits another of those deceptive high notes that he did so well. He made it sound so easy, but it's not!
Michael was galactic sent
I absolutely adore inxs one of my favorite frontman the lovely and talented michael hutchence
Aussie pub bands starts in the 70s and 80s.. was really rich with talent
More Michael please lol
Excelent singer! Please "Hear that sound" Live in Wembley
It’s impressive to be so forceful, and yet perfectly in tune, with so much background noise, and so much going on.
No words.
Gorgeous video, gorgeous topic, gorgeous the whole thing. Thank you so!

IMO Michael and Dave from Depeche Mode are two of THE best live vocalist ever. They sound exactly the same live as on their albums
This concert was amazing. I found your channel today on his 62nd birthday . TFS . His voice will resonate through my house all day today RIP Michael. 🙏🙏🇦🇺🇦🇺

It's so enjoyable listening to you talk voice. I learn so much.
Long overdue analysis on a mega talent. Thanks so much. His Arsenio show appearance is amazing too.

Oh sooo great to watch a vid with someone who knows music and sound and breaks this down so beautifully!
Enjoy your analysis thank you
My forever RockGod, Michael Hutchence. Miss you forever. I was so fortunate to have your hands in my hair back in the Sydney pub days x
.
Beautiful Michael, beautiful song beautiful soul!!!! 😢😢❤
I realized waaaay too late how great this band was.
Love Michael… such a tragic loss.
Thanks for this vid.
Hutchence, Bono and Cy Curnin (Fixx) - top singers. (LeBon - Arcadia "The Promise" - stunning phrasing and legato)
A lovely review of his voice! Thanks for sharing your wisdom!
Reincarnation of Jim Morrison. The Hutch was unique, no one since in terms of voice and stage presence.
jim morrison was on a whole different level of lyricism though ..
So correct that he was a total rock god and made it look effortless. A total master of the stage and his vocals.
I love Michael Hutchence ❤
Loved your reaction/ analysis. INXS is one of my all time favorite bands.
Could you please do a reaction to Nightwish, Ghost Love Score (live at Wacken 2013 is the best)? Nightwish is a Finnish metal band, and their lead singer, Floor Jansen, is one of the best singers working today. She must be heard to be believed.
