I enjoy your channel very much,as a person looking into this field for the first time i just want to have confirmations that a spiritual world is real. Keep.the good work up.
Oh my gosh, I've been waiting for reviews on this book! Also, i dont know why, but you haven't been popping up on my subscribers' content. I went to your list of video's, and i was shocked that i had missed seeing so many new videos, I had thought perhaps you had taken a break from youtube. Is there's a way to favorite channels on here so this doesn't happen again? It's time to binge watch.
A few creators have reported subs dropped after youtube did an update a couple of weeks ago. Several have encouraged going through our subs list and checking. I noticed the same 🤷♀️
Thank you, Ari! This is on my "to read" list, and you've definitely inspired me to bump it ahead on my list. In fact, I'm going upstairs to get it now. All best wishes! 🌿💚🍄
First I have to say I love your videos and have learned so much from you!! I also have to say that this book teaches you how to bind, control and make bargains with spirits. If I wanted to work with you - would I summon you - BIND you - and then force you to my will?? I’d be much more successful if I introduced myself, asked if you were interested and let you consent of your own will to work with me or not. Promoting this book for beginners could get them started on the wrong foot with so many benevolent, kind, and open spirits that are ready and willing to work them. If I were a spirit and saw Jason miller coming I would run away! Nobody wants a world where others fight to control their will. I’m willing to bet most spirits don’t like it either.
Thank you, I'm glad my videos have helped! You raise a great point, one which is in line with my own approach to spirit work. The flavour of spirit work Jason Miller teaches I guess is more in line with traditional grimoire magic, definitely not to everyone's cup of tea. I don't fully agree with it, but I think there is some wisdom in the rituals and tools used in spirit communication. But it's up to the individual how they actually want to deal with spirits!
@@TheOakWitch Yes. I love that perspective. It’s good for people to know the traditional ways in which things were done and also to challenge those traditions as we all learn and grow. You are awesome and inspiring! Thanks for the response. Made my day!!
For me personally, it was too Christian-ish and didn’t talk much about plant spirits or ancestors which I’m more interested in. I also found it too coercive for me-more about summoning spirits than forming relationships with them. But that was just my experience with the book.
Books I'd like to see reviewed: "FAMILIAR UNTO ME: WITCHES SORCERERS AND THEIR SPIRIT COMPANIONS" (BJ SWAIN) "SPIRIT MARRIAGE: INTIMATE RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHERWORLDLY BEINGS" (MEGAN ROSE PH.D.) "SEXUAL ALCHEMY: MAGICAL INTERCOURSE WITH SPIRITS" (DONALD TYSON)
@@dukewilliams2545 , thanks! I asked her about reviewing them when this video came out, and even tho she hasn't reviewed them yet, I'm still hopeful...
what rubs me in the wrong way (horrible saying, always rub the right way) it´s always the same gods / spirits! (from very limited areas, often not even from where the worshippers are from) because it WASN´T like that in the real witchcraft / shaman traditions (those people were called priests instead, and even they worshipped family spirits originally). you were supposed to find your OWN guides, who at least here were mostly individual (unless inherited). it´s like it´s turned upside down.. everyone´s talking to the creator ("spirit"), from children upwards (like those horrible night prayers, lowest human spirituality has ever been). that said, SULIS to you fair lady, accept no lower gods :) (yes still upset to monotheists because they stole from the sun cult)
without ever reading a single book about "western mysticism" i think the only meaningful phrase there might be the saying "oh my god". my god, my spirit, the spirit i found, that found me.. that´s where it sort of falls in line with the thousands of natural traditions around the world :) it´s not GREAT SPIRIT, that´s where it started to go wrong, keep it small, keep it real :) talking about the same forced traditions, priest traditions as i call them, that´s not "non-dualism" (did they just rename the middle path, oh you mother puckers..)
"The 4 methods of interacting with spirits: prayer, conjuring, compelling, and evocation." Compelling?? Only an ignorant and idiot would attempt to enslave spirits, enslaving/compelling is a sign of great respect for spirits

I definitely wish there was more animism discussion in the book! It was very grimoire heavy.
Great book review Ari!! I have a physical copy and I read 1/2 of it so far. Can you review the Grimoire Encyclopaedia by David Rankine!!?
Thank you! I definitely want to get this book so as soon as I get my hands on it, I'll get reading 😁
