You have to let go of will and you have to "let go of yourself" which is easier said than done because you cannot try to let go because that reinforces the idea of the separate self. If successful, it will be seen that everything is happening by itself and there is no you/self. There remains only consciousness/pure awareness. Everything flows effortlessly and elegantly but we have to "get out of our own way" so to speak. The only way to let go is to try so hard and exert your will into you (your ego) completely give(s) up. That's what the majority of spiritual teachers report. The state you are seeking is already here, it is the natural state. To get thete, you have to let go. To let go, you need to work so hard until you realize that it is futile because you cannot try to let go.
We often listen especially from advayta teachers a very beautiful allegory about ocean and waves as an example that demonstrate the relation between brahman and manifested world. And according to this allegory if you identify yourself with the wave of the ocean you try to be more bigger wave than others and maybe even become great tsunami. But if you identify yourself with the ocean you want only deep stillness of the water in order to enjoy the vastness of the ocean. Be ocean, not wave!
I had these question, exact question - and I said - I will wing it - and now this is a question - like, not an instantaneous one - but rather one happening through all time. I am going to stop using TH-cam for spiritual knowledge. Damn good Mr Spire. Hats off, Anirban Raisis Raven.
I don't find a difference between Being and Meditation. And there is only One experience and just intensity levels which do come and go. I do find that those more intense degrees of peace do deepen into your body to where they become more automatic and perpetual throughout your day-to-day experiences (Which are really just images that also come and go.)
@@plotofland2928 For some there are habits of mind and body that can make them ignorant to know there being experientially. Sometimes inner work may be required.
I think these are just ord games. Just because I say I am won´t make me free of pain and suffering. I can concentrate foe a little while and have a faint feeling of my being but still all the illusion and identification persists
Taste "I am" instead of saying it. Now, you're still too much fascinated by your pain and your suffering. Don't neglect your "being aware" again ! Live there. Be that. Love that. Know only that. Then the side effect of That are peace and completness
You can't just say it. If success occurs in abiding as awareness, everything will seem to happening by itself, effortlessly. There is a feeling of weightlesness, elegance, and flow. You are awareness/emptiness absorbed in the dream of being a separate self. You are not doing anything, that is the illusion that is caused by identification.
So how do people maintain the I AM in everyday life? 24/7? What is the difference between all the other 8 billion people in the world who don’t do anything? When I watch Rupert and Francis they seem like the only ones who are calm and seem to be living what they are trying to intellectually convince others of but the rest of the audience doesn’t seem to be in the same condition
You say “just stay as the I Am” but you really don’t say how to? Being lazy like barely being able to blink one’s eyes. How does that work for people? You definitely seem that way.
Rupert always checkmates so elegantly.
Gladly there is the internet so that we can skip those endless questions and go straight to Rupert's talk
Ace! I've got the lazy bit already
Wonderful. ❤
Sweet!

Meditation is your natural state, you can't do it, that was concentration.

Don’t use this understanding to escape from the illusion. Use it to be responsible I.e ability to respond to the illusion
Enlightenment is not escape. You must live and suffer still. But live life with an enlightened perspective. It’s the best we can do.

If you say, “don’t meditate” Rupert, then why do you have meditations at all your retreats?
They're not meditations like vipassana or TM.
I think the "meditations" are opportunities for resting in "I am".
