- Today I took the Land Rover Discovery II to the local off road playground to test it out for the first time.

This Week With Cars - Episode 0073
More Land Rover content please!
I drove a D2 around Australia, including the Simpson, Tele, Cape York, and the Kimberley. The vehicle is astonishingly capable and still the best 4WD I've ever owned (actually, I've owned a few of these).
Nice job showing off 5% of the Disco II's potential! Look up some Camel Trophy videos for inspiration! 😏👍
Yep th-cam.com/video/0bMpjnhN6vo/w-d-xo.html
5% is even too much..
This was a really nice video and I enjoyed it very much, because everyone seemed to be driving smoothly and carefully; instead of what is so often the case where people are hurtling round off road tracks with loads of aggressive noise and flinging mud. Driven properly an off-road course can be a great test of driving skills.
That was fun. My fire department, which I’m retired from, has a 1954 Jeep CJ-3B. I used to take that Jeep where angels feared to tread. It’s retired now. I sometimes miss those off-road adventures.
More more more! Love the disco!
I like watching you get old cars started. What happened to the old blue Jaguar?
Waiting for the parts to do the next video.
My '89 Accord could get through that mud
At 5.15. Well it was nice to see they were all grateful and showed thier appreciation! Where l live in England these are nearly normal roads!!
I think the design for the discovery was for more testing conditions. add a horse box and tow that round to give a better visual test of how tough the LR can take it. Here in UK I've seen these tested with mud up to the sills. I get you didn't want to damage the truck but you need to see the 'Camel Run' testing. Now thats a test for LR's.
This course seems to be set up as a proper test of the off-road capabilities of both car and driver, rather than the chest-beating, loud mudlark that these things often turn into.
Looks like fun too.👍😁
A Disco is nothing that a jeep can duplicate. I'm on my 3rd and can honestly say ILOVE THEM
Nicer weather. Summer will be great
if this car works like a P38 only tires fuckes this up!
miss doing that in my Mitsubishi pajero and a lot more heavy duty offroading than that here in uk north wales has some scary off road places that make that playground look very feeble
There’s a lot of scary sections but that particular truck isn’t ready for that. I am going to put the center diff lock lever into one and make sure the traction control works properly. Also it always looks more tame in a video than in real life.
This Week With Cars plenty of videos on TH-cam showing the 4x4 off-road tracks in wales have a look if you get a chance
Thanks for the video, exactly what I was looking for. Quick questions: What size tires did you put on the Rover?
Looks like the UN arrived at the end!
"Off road"?
The two people that didn't like this video are jealous Freelander owners. lol
Kinda boring. Let’s see all four wheels off the ground!
Whatever floats your boat I suppose... lol 👍
Yes, you do realize that's a GM engine to begin with.
Rover bought the design from Buick circa 1965 . Buick had abandoned it as they thought they could never sell the US public (at the time) such a small block engine made of aluminum. Of course, being all-aluminum was radical in those days and it had a few teething problems, but has since been much modified and capacity increased.
Also used in Morgan and MGB v8.
All American engines, except for the Rover/Landcruiser which got it's engine from the U.S.
