Just as you were setting off I was thinking to myself 'the Pinzguaer Is great but quite tall'. Then part way round the trail you confirmed what I was thinking, almost nose to the ground when you tied it to another truck! Without a doubt the Pinzguaer proved that it can cope with such a lot and probably beyond what it was designed for. Thanks for the trip Steve, great stuff. 👍👍
I want to be your camera guy and go ahead of you and get the exterior shots. Hahahaha. I would love to see that same route but from the outside. Looks super fun.
I recall a magazine article about the Pinzgauer. I think it was Car and Driver a long time ago. I believe I recall that it’s an Austrian military vehicle. I don’t remember much about the power train. The magazine editors were pretty impressed, overall. I’m amazed you found one. Pretty cool!
I remember that article and it was in CD. But it was by David E. Davis Jr., who tended to freeze onto random enthusiasms and then hype them mercilessly. I believe in the Pinzgauer a lot more now that I've seen TWWC put it through its paces! Re the problem of keeping it on all fours: You need a squad of Austrian infantry in the back to lean the right way at the right time...
You need to make a trek to NW mogfest in Oregon Its next level tough! I high centered my vanagon Synchro twice and it has big wheels a lift kit and a 98 inch wheelbase! Love the vids!
It was interesting to see how nimble the vehicle is. I worked with Austrians while with the UN who were medics qualified to drive and maintain both kinds of Pinzgauer: the draught horse and the vehicle.
I am so bummed about the Pinz. Compared to the mad max truck it’s more of an Uber/ door dash runner as long as there is a paved road to allow sandwich delivers. Even the side By’s with their girly-girl engines are nothing more than a sandbox kids toy. Apparently the big dogs rule the roost and allow the gnats to swarm near by for entertainment purposes. You’d think something as ugly as the Pinz could hold its own but holding hands up or down hills isn’t exactly an ugly truck club winner. Guess I can scratch the Pinz from my revised to do purchase list and just go for scar face / mad max off roading. So bummed.

Heard that sigh of relief at 3:25. LOL
Looks like fun.
That thing is a BEAST!

Originally Austrian made from 1971-2000 and then British made from 2000-2007.

nice truck, great stuff thanks
Impressive terrain! Well done to get an unmodified, road-legal production vehicle to perform that well!

Yes is a work out Peace out
Wonder if you could use UHMW for the rub rails.
Oof, no power steering! I wonder if you could upgrade that.
cool rig, how's the wrecker doing?
Working on it today, it's getting some upgrades for the big event in a couple weeks.
So this is what the Apocalypse looks like?
Minus the petroleum, so pushing by hand.
That's got to feel sketchy being right at the front of the vehicle with nothing in front of the windshield. 😅
As they say with vw busses "you're first on scene of an accident!!
