If money is not an issue, Cayenne. Otherwise X5, 11 times out of 10.
BMW has completely botched their infotainment with all-way touch controls. Simply unacceptable, hopefully such systems will be banned in the future

Why pay more for a VW?
I agree and recently bought an x5. But this comparison is a bit too broad. The Mercedes, Audi, Volvo are larger, three-row vehicles.
Well I picked the GLE 450, a matter of fact I did so from last October. I spec it and to my surprise last Monday, sales man called to say it's here, picked it up on Friday afternoon. Though I have only driven 50 miles since and it's locked away in my garage, I can tell you this is a phenomenal vehicle, the ride, the tech, the comfort, interior ambiance and lighting. I am in awe of the car and everything about it. After having it in my possession, the purchase price to me is justified, though before I was apprehensive for that same reason. Phenomenal car.
I try nearly everything before l order my GLE...wait more than 7 months but make the perfect configuration for me...after only one week of driving l confirm what you say---comfort and luxury are incomparable and it's worth it every cent!!!
@user-ep8wm1rl9p you are the man, I'm glad to hear you were just as pleased as myself with your decision. I watched many reviews before my purchase and kept hearing people say you get more for your money with the X5 as far as performance. But I have rented many BMW in the last yr. And they are excellent but I have a MB biased and prefer that ride and attention to comfort and style. For example I got the pinnacle package and I have only driven this car twice since I had it. And I realize I cannot operate without the massage seats. It is fantastic and in my opinion more suitable for me than the X5.

@@smar1208the rear seats space is problematic on x5. It’s too cramped for the rear passenger and the kids. Tiguan has more rear space than X5

PS: Love the way you call out #bs_capacitive_buttons and fake exhaust pipes. Can you add #poorly_designed_signal_lights_indicators to the list please?
Because I couldn't help but notice that the front signal lights of the last VW Touareg reviewed looked very small and thin and difficult to see during daytime, especially with the shiny chrome grill near it. Thank you :)

Totally agree with you @autogefuehl Thomas. Based on exactly all these factors i purchased a 2021 Bmw X6 M Sport 30D with M Adaptive suspension, comfort seats an 21" wheels.

Great video mate! Loved the jacket you wore when reviewing the Merc, if you dont mind my asking where is it from?
Excellent reviews as usual. One thing I would really like you to try is whether you can place 3 large suitcases on their side in the trunk. I find the sloping roof of many of these so called SUVs, whilst deep, can not accommodate a few large suitcases as the roofline hits the corner of the suitcases. A vertical rear window is much more practical for a SUV. I find I can no longer do an airport run in my BMW iX due to the sloping window. You just can not fit 3 or 4 big suitcases.

The Merc Interior just seems so superior…and like the classic utilitarian design…driver visibility seems slightly better than X5 …still deciding between x5
The Mercedes is super. I purchased the GLE AMG 63s over the others for numerous reasons. The esthetics, ride, technology, infotainment, dealership, etc. The performance of each was very similar but I believe the quality in the Merc was superior

have a 2024 x5 40i m sport. Its brilliant. Only negative is missing physical climate buttons and sport and sport + are identical almost. Sport should be dialed back a touch with trans setting.
What mileage do you get out of it? I'm still hesitating between the 40i and 45e
It’s good. 10.8l/100km - it’s fast enough certainly - handles and steers better than ‘21 I had

I had pre face-lifted X5 and x5m, As a BMW fan i can tell you that BMW always had one of the best price/quality ratio, but after i owned couple of Porsche, somehow i don’t know why but i don’t want BMW anymore, maybe the Porsche emblem has some sort of magic :))) or maybe just the driving performance:)))

My brother has a Jaguar and he also has problems with wind noise at higher speeds, it even gets worse when you feel the draft in winter.
BMW X5 50e without any doubt. So superior in terms of materials vs the Audis, feels more spacious inside than the Mercedes, has the best infotainment system (8.5 IDrive is impressive), much more fun than the XC90, not even comparable to the Range Rover because they have serious reliability issues and looks prettier than the Cayenne (even if this tastes are different for everyone I personally find that the Cayennes have a too much rounded shape and look like Nissans)

I don't see the VW as being in the same class as the rest, and the Volvo's powertrains are inferior to the field, but the rest of these vehicles are solid choices. I loaded up an X5 40i and took delivery in early December. It's been outstanding so far.

for me, it is a tie between the BMW X5 and AUDI Q8? Reasons: Fanboy 😎, look, specs, price. If anything else I have to pick its Porsche Cayenne.

I have a GLE Coupe 350d,...In 2024, I have to change, and I´m between GLE Coupe 450d again,....or X6 30d M Sport Pro (cheaper and better equipped ).

I really think these SUVs need even larger wheels to get the design effect that you get from seeing the concept sketches. SUV design just doesn't work with sensible wheel sizes. I would say minimum 26 inches rims with some chunky tires for ride comfort.

good... no worries... they are very powerful cars and hard to control on the roads... they consume a lot of fuel and you have nothing to do with cars on normal roads where there are other cars... they are powerful cars of the formula one circuit....you must have nothing to do with the money to buy cars like this to get big...

Quick question: MERC GLE 400e Prem Plus vs BMW X5 50e vs Lexus RX450h+ vs Basic Porsche Cayenne Hybrid.
We are leasing the car on business - which would you recommend. Swaying towards the Merc because it's so niche and my dad likes comfort more than sportiness.
The mercedes looks like a blob. I dont like the body design at all. Cant go wrong with a x5 or x6. The Cayenne is also a great choice. Porsche and BMW these days are just better. Coming from a use to be merc fan
Great review. I've never bought an SUV because for me most of them look like ludicrous, oversized behemoths, particularly on British roads. Also, I don't want to be hated. I can see the appeal though, hence me looking at this review. The BMW X5 might be the best (and is, according to a lot of reviews) but I couldn't live with those awkward looks. The Range Rover is the easiest to dismiss as its just an ugly lump (as is the Volvo) and will either break down or be stolen anyway. Only the Audi and Porsche look good so I would have to go for one of them if I was forced to. As I'm not, I will have a previous gen. BMW 545e, the last good looking BMW.

We do straight head to heads, but getting so many vehicles at same time is almost impossible, so these serve as overview / wikipedia episodes and are pretty popular among car buyers

Maybe you didnt listen, the VW Touareg is built in the very same plant on the very same platform just like Q8, Q7, Cayenne and Bentayga. They are very comparable, all have almost the same length and the very same technology, just different badging.
Oh and no, stating the truth doesnt give you payment by a manufacturer. However viewers appreciate honesty.

Land Rovers, aside from popular British Car celebs/Journos claiming its the worlds best off-roader. I get its a matter of national pride for their brand.
All Land Rovers are pavement queens. Aside from flexing I have lots of $. Their interior, infotainment, Engines seem very basic.
SVR Autobiography is very posh.
As far as reliability Porsche … 😊but the Mercedes may be next even tho it’s shitty at times but better than the others on the list
Certainly a step up, I purchased the GLE AMG 63s because of the quality, esthetics and infotainment. All of these SUV’s are great, just chose the one you prefer

I see why tesla can cut cost so much😂 a single bulky ugly steering wheel without even a badge metal in the middle. A single iPad. Sure does look like the "future" in their 😂 doesn't seem like ur experiencing a sports car or a luxury car. Luxury sports car give u carbon fiber around the car, carbon bucket seats or luxury seats,HUD, full self driving and auto park, buttons that feel good to press not having to scroll and take ur eyes off the road, higher grade material sport steering wheel that feels cool too have ur hands on, and a unique dashboard across the front. U can make it feel like ur in pure luxury or a luxury sports car. Tesla is neither its just so blah. I'm mindblown thats ur entire dashboard still. 😂😂 people praise them for being a poor mans fast car and now I see why.
Won't even get into the plain jane "egg"like look of the model Y 😂 not aggresive or mean looking at all. The headlights look outdated. Shit turning no heads looks like basic traffic 💀
