Although cool and saving tons of time, I think it mainly only works here because of how simple Ike's kit is. But would definitely love to see more just like this.
@@thanos9350 If MainManSwe can do it for Tekken characters I am sure Izaw could do it for Ult characters if he wanted to. Some he would just have to talk fast which he normally doesn't do.
I like how Ike's gameplan hasn't changed too much over the years, he's just gotten better at doing what he already did. I don't play Smash much anymore, but Ike was my favorite character since he appeared in Brawl. Thanks for the video.
I love that Ike is a fairly straightforward character, especially since he's my favourite Fire Emblem lord and I adore the Tellius series! Great guide, :)
@@amatanata Fire Emblem is my favorite nintendo franchise, maybe my favorite franchise period. It is extremely fun and the story for (most) games are very good. Theres 2 types of Fire Emblem games imo, Modern and Classic. Classic games are usually similar gameplay wise to eachother in the sense that they don't deviate from the games usual gameplay. The newer games (Modern) tend to experiment with gameplay, making them very different than eachother and harder to recommend to get into the series with as they are very different to the Classic games. Though, they tend to be much easier and more lenient than the Classic games. Want a Classic game? I'd actually say to start with Path of Radiance (The game Ike is from), though if you don't like emulating, it is extremely hard to get your hands on a legit copy. You could also play Blazing Blade (just called Fire Emblem in the west), but it might be a bit old for new players to enjoy. If you can get past it being on the GBA, it is a VERY good game, and it comes with a very good tutorial to the series (best in the series). If you can get past the graphics, it is a great introduction to the series. If you end up enjoying Path of Radiance, it also has a direct sequel, Radiant Dawn, which is regarded by lots of Fire Emblem fans to be the best game in the series. Want a Modern game? I'd say to probably choose from Awakening or Engage. Awakening (The game Robin and Chrom are from) is an introduction to the modern fire emblem games, with the S rank mechanics and more of a focus on customization than previous fire emblem games. Engage... has a very weak story, but borderline the best gameplay in the entire series. Get past the story, and you have a very good game. It also doesn't have smash representation yet, obviously. I would recommend Three Houses, but it really isn't a good introduction to the SERIES. If you want a good game, go ahead, play Three Houses, it is a very good game and many Fire Emblem fans first, but don't expect other Fire Emblem games to feel the same as it. I know many that have played Three Houses and never moved onto the other Fire Emblem games because they felt so different.
Ike is slowly (no pun intended) becoming my favorite character in the game the more I learn fundamentals. He's just so fun to use, and he even makes me improve with my other characters.
Izaw’s guides are frequently the best on TH-cam so I personally would love to see more of these short form guides, especially if you can post them with a higher frequency
Great video once again. Ike is a great character and helps you understand the fundamentals of Smash. The character can teach you what strengths you have and where there are opportunities to improve. Once you understand how he plays it is a lot of fun conditioning the opponent and punishing them for the wrong option. The one design choice I would change with Ike would be eruption. I wish they gave him a projectile similar to blade beam. It’s how he attacks in Fire Emblem with Ragnell (1-2 attack range). That would open up a lot more options and mixups at his disposal.
I can see that IzawSmash has a sweet spot for Ike. There is always something special about his Ike Videos. Or it could just be me because I have always loved Ike's simple playstyle from the get-go.
You say it like you need them, you are goated man!, and I say that because I fought sometimes against you, the last being as a Byleth player, you are so good man!
You're guides are honestly the best. You leave no stone unturned when explaining a character and you're very easy to listen to. Thank you for all your videos.
This is the most complete Ike guide I've seen and in was presented in such an easy, right to point way so that anyone can understand it. It literally just needed to talk a little bit more about his disadvantage but either way it's probably the best guide out there!. Awesome video
Hey! Really neat guide, learnt a lot and since he’s my favourite character and main, it’s really nice to know I’ve got this to rely on! Keep it going :)
I always mained Ike in the games hes in. Brawl, 4, and Ultimate. Mostly because be looked cool and sounded cool but now I can usually dominate with him.
Awesome Video man! Was a Link Main ever since Smash 64, but once Brawl came out I've main'd Ike, to the point it pisses people off (cause I know how to perfectly time up B or down B counter, not to mention ledge spikes). It's crazy how well rounded Ike is; 1 - His Tilt attacks are fast enough to keep up with most other characters, and still put out high damage 2 - His Smash attacks rival that of some of the strongest characters 3 - His Recovery is incredible, considering how heavy damage he is (using both side and up B) 4 - His Aerial moves make him brutal against "Floaty" Characters. 5 - His Side B Special (If used effectively) can allow you to create space quickly when dealing with projectile characters (like Simon) 6 - (If timed correctly) You could almost play Ike just using his specials, specifically up and down B (if you prefer to spam haha) The worst matchups I've had when playing Ike are; Incineroar (Side B), Inkling (Side B), King K. Rool (Down & Neutral B)
This is a great video for reference. I’ve been playing Ike since Brawl but I’ve never really been too good at the game and am actually pretty bad at it lol. But I wanna try and go competitive a little bit while still using him as my main. And while I always knew what his game plan was I was just never good at tying it all together. Thanks for the video man this is very much appreciated!!
Here's how I got to ike: shulk -> Sephiroth -> cloud -> Mii swordie -> Ike" So far I love playing ike! His great range and slow gameplay are right for me, as I have trouble keeping up with fast paced characters. Thanks so much for making this guide! (It helped me a lot)
This is excellent on its own, but also seems like a great primer to Art of Ike. Not sure if that was intentional but it's awesome! Brb getting my fundies back.
I'm dissappointed that you didn't even mention down Smash. Is the fastest Smash attack of Ike and can be followed from jab 2 if the opponent is shielding a lot and even breaks shields this way. It can also cover neutral, attack and roll get up if spaced correctly at the ledges, and also covers many options in a tech situation
Hello, can you provide clarification or a quick video on the Nair to Dair spike? I tried it in training with Joker at same percentage and I can’t replicate it to have the combo say 2. With CPU practice they tend to air dodge since i can’t pull off the true combo, your combo at 2:25
I already had down everything he said in this video, but there were a lot of options you showed off that I want to try adding to my “vocabulary” if you will.
Short hop eruption in neutral is obnoxious and I use it all the time as a mix-up, combos into pretty much everything and basically invalidates most characters aerial game
Ike best character in the game no cap all the sword characters are goated but I got a special place for ike made to many if my friends rage while using him Marth and Roy and link are my second go toos cloud is okay im still getting use to him
Hi everyone ! I would like to know where is Ike in your personnal tier list ? To me he is a solid mid tier. He can destroy anyone at low pourcent, he is scary with a great power. I love to play this character as I hate campy characters 😂
I like how I'm already this good with the one canonically gay character. Was always a favorite and a safe option but never bothered to main till now. How is he THIS good?!

I was thinking it was an 8 minute guide on how to spam nair while he starts getting louder
I was thinking it then i read it. Glad i wasnt the only one.

8 minutes for the mid-roll

dude ike is god tier he has range hits hard parry and a dash his only flaw is poor recovery i just unlocked him today and hes already one of my mains
Not getting Uthrow to Fair or Dtilt to Uair to register on the combo counter in Training mode.

and I didn’t even play cloud in smash 4
