@@kathrynorozco5416 and I think that’s why he calls himself the eldest. He’s not technically right, but he’s practically right. Connor is just kinda off to the side, I feel neither Shiv, Roman, or Kendall think of him as a true brother. Maybe they love him, but he’s not as tight as the other siblings. There’s a reason that he gets treated like a side character.

The issue was Shiv would never be No. 1 ---- anywhere. I think that is what Lady Caroline Collingwood, in her way, was attempting to tell her. The only way she would be No. 1 in the environment where she reared was if she were an only child. Dogs were easier to deal with. At least with the money, she should be able to do as she pleases without Logan and Lady Caroline on her shoulder.
The only way of getting out of the Logan Roy legacy was taking the money and running. She does not owe her brothers anything. As Logan told them all, build your own pile. Logan gave the four of them, with this deal, a big head start.

The way the Tom & Shiv end scene is framed so well. Shiv married Tom because she believed he was a weak man who she could push around. In this last scene, he looks powerful while Shiv looks defeated. She congratulated him to which he quietly deflects, “oh, no no.” He lays his hand out for her to take his lead. He’s completely flipped the script on the dynamic of their relationship. Now he’s the one in control.

The whole point is when it comes to Shiv and Kendall, it’s not about money. They all have more money than they could ever spend in a lifetime. It’s about power, and the finale left both of them powerless. Shiv just chose to lose to Tom instead of Kendall.

Connor looked happy in the end. He's the one that won the most.
He bought Logan's house without much fuss from Martia, and she even seemed to like him the most out of Logan's children.
He lives in blissful obliviousness with Willa. He was the only one who got to spend some time with Logan in the eve of his death.
He even tried to reunite the family during his wedding.
Kendall looks in the end as if he wants to kill himself. Completely broken, shattered. But trapped by the bannister and haunted by the memories of what he did, as symbolised by the bodyguard standing to his right.
Roman looks lost. He smiled for a moment, finally free from that wretched company. But then the smile disappears. The future is up to him. But he hates himself, so it's unlikely he'll do much with it.
Siobhan looks completely dead inside. She's now in Tom's palm. She'll be the glorified baby-maker of the for now Chief Executive Officer. She'll end up like her mother.
I doubt she's gonna divorce Tom Wambsgans. She told him she feared the underneaths in a relationship. As she told him a few episodes earlier, they've said the worst stuff to each other, which paradoxically, makes her feel safe. Because she already knows that Tom doesn't like her, but he'll still provide for her. For their future child, too. And for her.
Apart from Connor, the Roy children all end up with what they deserve. Love it.

If everyone calls Kendall, Roman and Shiv's little tea party in Barbados a celebration of sibling unity, I don't know what to think. The important conversation was at the water's edge between Roman and Shiv. It was one of weakest displays of brotherly love that I have seen on TV. No enthusiasm for their decision at all. It was 'we are at the bottom of barrel' and we are not the alternatives anointing. Either Roman or Shiv could have flipped at that board mtg.@@thefm9881

Colin representing the specter of Logan following him around after his death and him being above the water opposed to always being in it over four seasons is great imagery. It leaves how his character goes after this up for interpretation. Is he stuck in the past with his dads shadow constantly over him, or does he finally gain clarity to do something on his own after obsessing with replacing his father. So well done.

I know people clown on the term "money can't buy happiness" a lot, but this whole show demonstrates the truth of that statement perfectly.
Happiness has existed before money ever did. Happiness is usually acquired when you fulfill your needs, goals, wants, desires, or purpose. When you experience something that feels meaningful to you.
It just so happens that in the modern world, money is one of the main methods for people to help achieve those things.
But when the thing you desire, need, or dream of cannot be bought with money, then it becomes significantly less useful for you. The same can be said for having so much money that nothing you buy can excite or make you happy anymore. Hell, in some situations going broke could actually be the solution for you because it changes your needs, desires, and purpose. Money really can't buy you happiness sometimes.
Just like Kendall here. He is at the point the where he's the wealthiest he has ever been in his life, yet he looks the most broken and empty.

Which in the end was true, they were never serious. Shiv was the closest based on her hunger for power. The older brother (the real eldest), would also have been a good choice but he was too apolitical and never participated in any of the hard decision-making.
Regarding Ken, he is an addict. They are impulsive and driven by addiction. Not good at business decisions. Always taking huge risks and will replace one addiction for another. Addicts are for life. No matter how much empathy you feel for him, it doesn't change the fact that he's not a good candidate. In the final episode, he was so desperate, he lied about the murder to change shivs vote.

Tom and shiv is the ideal ending. They've never been in a crackhouse. They've never murdered anyone. They have a clean past. Nobody can blackmail them or use anything against them to taint the company name.
You're underestimating logan. The company exists because of his brilliance. I will agree that he wasn't a good father which is why his children haven't matured into well-adjusted adults.
Do not forget that Kendall was divorced since season 1 and we later learned why his ex left him. So this addiction isn't new behaviour that started with the company drama. It was well established over a long period of time. LASTLY, shiv didn't betray Kendall because of any personal feelings. The final nail in the coffin was when he lied about the murder, that turned both shiv and Roman against him. Re-watch that final boardroom scene.

Tom was foreshadowed to replace Logan from the very beginning. Upon rewatch, there's lots of subtle parallels between them. Both struggled to get to where they are, both had shitty relationships, both were snakey and used others to their advantage. Tom was different to everyone else in that he knew what it meant to be at the bottom and claw your way to the top, something the kids would never understand.

@@RileyWriteyIt’s funny how what Logan perceived as a weakness, that Tom was far beneath Shiv, was actually a strength he should’ve remembered. Logan was also a low class young man who built himself into a rich powerhouse. His kids were handicapped from their rich lifestyle because they never had to truly struggle in the workplace.
      Tom did, as did Logan.

Tom was economically below Shiv and the family as a whole. Brain wise, a few steps ahead of the "kids," including his very immature wife.@@alexman378

Kendall Roy was such a tragic character. No family. No Kingdom. He's just forever a lost man. I know the general consensus is that Shiv screwed him. But in reality Ken screwed himself so many times with his arrogance and pride that he lost everything. He would've been a horrible CEO. He just wanted the power because he had nothing else.

One of the best shows ever. Each box is checked off. Cast, cinematography, plot, comedy, drama, soundtrack (one of my all-time favorites), and, in my opinion, one of the most important check boxes for a show: a GREAT ENDING. Not pointing fingers (Game of Thrones...).
