Based on the shape, I would guess Reed, but I've never had one, or even seen one over here. Very interesting that they have been able to get some more unusual ones in. Hopefully, the other one turns out good when ripe. Reed (if it is, of course) is meant to be a very good-tasting avocado.
Yes I’ve never knowingly seen or eaten a reed here but perhaps they are bringing them in occasionally from South America or Spain or even Israel. I guess these Turkish grocers simply get boxes of ‘green’ skinned avocados from the wholesalers here, they wouldn’t be bothered about what variety here. They do often have the larger Caribbean types but they are generally much bigger and at least a pound more expensive
If it is booth 7 then it’s one of the most tastiest avocados along with couple of others out there. Given that they have picked it at the right time, then it will have the nice flavour.
@@lyonheart84 The fruits they pick to export are often picked at the wrong time and too early too. I got to try Miyazaki mango yesterday and oh my God! The best mango ever. I’ve had 100s varieties of mangos in my life and this one is out of the world. I was thinking if it tasted this good after exporting, imagine how tasty it would be to eat it fresh from the tree.
I wondered if it might be a Reed Joe, I’ve never heard of the other variety but unless it’s grown commercially probably unlikely to turn up in a grocers here ?
I have booth 7 grafted tree. I don’t know what size booth 7 avocado is I haven’t seen Reed before so not sure if that’s what it is. It reminds me of the gem avocado too
The one I’ve cut open won’t as I’ve had to put it in the fridge lol, the other one should ripen in the fruit bowl. I’ll cut the opened one into squares and marinate it in vinegar maybe, should be ok in a salad. The general consensus seems to be leaning towards Reed 😁
I only posted the video an hour ago. I had a look online and Booth is a possibility. My only question is would that variety be grown commercially in a country that sells avocados to the UK as I’d never heard of the variety before ? Sometimes there are variety names on the boxes but not this time plus there were also traditional pear shaped avocados mixed with them in the same box, probably Fuerte
@@lyonheart84 Someone thought I was smart enough to ID your avocado .What they didn’t know is that it’s not that easy to ID avocados unless you have grown these trees and got fruits for couple of years. Booth 7 is more Asia but available in USA too. It’s not an European avocado. It could have came from Asia along with other Asian fruits.
@nirmalasivam2941 lol you’ve grafted a lot of varieties but probably haven’t tried many of them. Reed is now being commercially grown in Spain. Avocados are rarely imported to the UK from Asia but it’s certainly possible that these ones are. I guess I’ll never know for sure lol
@@lyonheart84 Wait couple of years for my avocados to fruit and I will send you fruits from them. I received the oro negro grafted tree today along with other avocado varieties.

They are both as hard as cricket balls 😂

Looks like a Reed or Nabal 🤩

@@lyonheart84 my first guess is a Reed, but it also has the look of Nabal which is grown in California., a Guatemalan type.
Great find Brett 🤩🌱

Margarida maybe 🤔
It’s a possibility Barry based on pictures but I question whether that variety is likely to ever end up in a UK shop ?
I won't attempt to guess. Looks interesting though. Will they ripen on the counter any? 👍🏽

My vote is reed
That’s what I thought you might say Jeff. Probably the most likely ‘rare’ variety to turn up here in the UK
Brett… someone sent me a link to this😂😂
Looks like one of the booth avocado
Possible booth 7 or 8
