- In Donetsk region, russian contract soldiers nearly killed General Valeriy Solodchuk and his security, who came to quell the rebellion and force those who refused to continue fighting.
But the soldiers refused to obey the order. The russian general had to shamefully flee from the front line.
This is evidenced by a new telephone conversation between invaders intercepted by the SSU.
‘Almost all of our battery refused. He started waving his gun and shooting… He says ‘I’ll whack you if you don’t f**king go there!..’ Then, a kid says to him: ‘Go ahead, whack!’ F**k, he pulled out a grenade, pulled a pin and says: ‘Come on, shoot me! We’ll blow up together.’ That’s it. The special forces guys also started pointing their guns at us. So, we pointed our guns at them. In short, we almost shot each other, for f**k’s sake. He got on his bobik [note: UAZ, off-road military light utility vehicle] and left,’ the invader tells his wife.
He complains that only a third of their brigade (over 600 servicemen in a brigade) remain - the rest were killed or wounded.

The morale must be very low to start fragging your officers. They did a lot of that in Vietnam.
That's what ultimately ended the war in Vietnam. Not the protests. Not any moral compunctions. Not the Life magazine cover with one week's casualties, but the fact that more 2nd lieutenants were killed by their own men than by the VC.
A late friend of mine (you can read his memoir, SO MANY DISAPPEAR: A Soldier's Year in Vietnam) reported a cased he'd heard about where a gung ho repo 2nd looey told the grunts, "Tonight you're going on patrol."
"No we're not." the platoon insisted.
"Okay. I'll make sure you're all court martialed."
Coincidentally, enough, right after he said that, a "VC sniper" shot him.
Needless to say, the platoon did not go on patrol that night.

Not a lot of fragging in Nam but it happened. One routine day in my time there, there was an explosion. Not as big as a rocket and in the day time. It was not a rear area but a camp of a number of units. It rattled everybody in my area because it was close. A few hours later the wind tunnel said some one had rolled a grenade under a sergeant’s empty bunk and blew it to smithareens as a warning. It happened. There were also purported incidents of “friendly fire” accidents where a squad leader got a backside bullet.
Unfortunate to be led by insanity.

Some do that! One was very educated, and did know that because the Russians says it isn't a war, they can't do anything about it if an officer, he was a lower one, retires. His mother supported him a lot..

Just dumb that all his comrades died in this useless war against a neighboring country. They should never have come here, but the best thing to do is to leave and go home or take some armored vehicle and give up to a Ukrainian and get money for the vehicle and go home in a few months when they traid prisoners next time. Guess any civilian Ukrainian can help with this somehow.

Ukraine needs to set up s system to broadcast radio signals to all the Russian soldiers, to offer amnesty of they surrender. Then keep them in the rear lines, to do construction work until Ukraine wins the war.

Yes, they've been doing for a while, except forced labor. Prisoners are given medical treatment and all necessities.
Late reply, but, while they have a system for surrender, Ukraine’s artillery is long-distance and precise, so it’s not always possible for a Russian soldier to give himself up. From other intercepted calls, it’s pretty clear that Russian soldiers have no idea which way is safe, so would not be able to find areas to surrender that easily. I’d guess it’s easier for soldiers who drive vehicles to surrender?

The hearts of the Russian troops are not in this war.
They should have stayed home. 3 vehicles, 2 artillery peices, and 200 men isn't a battalion it's a section ie: 1/6 of a battery,. Even at Soviet levels that unit should be amalgamated into another unit. The attrition is terrible.

And his mother was more interested in finding out the state of other units, and their moral, instead of asking her son how he was doing!! Are you kidding me? What kind of mother ignores her son´s health and state of mind, and desires to know what other units are doing??
In another "intercept", the "soldier" was caught using certain expressions that only exist in ukrainian language. Let´s face it, these are psy-ops.
