    Man where was this channel 12 years ago when I bought my Ram? I had to learn all the panels and screws and installation myself. I like what you've done with your audio system. I have an 05 Ram Hemi Sport and I build my own fiberglass enclosure under the backseat with 2 Kenwood Excelon 12" shallows. Sounds good but never dug deep enough. I built a center console rear facing sub box with a Plexiglas window for a JL Audio 12w3 to replace the center jump seat. Haven't had time to put her in yet but I can't wait to see how it sounds.

      I plan on fiberglassing a custom box under the rear seats. when I do that I'm probably going to move all the amplifiers into the center console.

    I like these vids! I would really love a video on how you pick your drivers from parts express. Whats the difference between their " Midbass and Woofer drivers"? Arent those the same thing? Sub handles the lowest frequencies Mid bass is next, then mid range then tweeter. So where does the mid bass differ from a woofer?

    • @DIYAudioGuy
      @DIYAudioGuy  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the feedback.

    • @tatsumaru12345
      @tatsumaru12345 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Typically, they're the same but not always.
      A woofer will probably do say 80hz-3khz. But a dedicated midbass, will usually either play lower frequencies, or just be better at them. Headphones have this problem too. Just because a speaker 'says' it can play down to 40hz, doesn't mean its good at it.
      Take my setup. In my dash, I have a upper midrange that plays 1.5khz and up. In the front doors, a woofer that plays 63hz to 1.5khz. But in my rear panels, I have 2 cheap midbasses that play 63-500hz. 1 alpine type x for the sub.
      Most people are thinking, why did you put midbasses in the back, if the front covers 63hz+? Well ladies and gentleman, many aftermarket speakers can play low, but without heavy eq, it will not be as loud as even factory sometimes. Because they expect you'll add a subwoofer. WELL! Especially on say my alpine type x 12", 63hz-120hz is garbage. But having that midbass in the back panels, it helps feed the missing lows.

      There are plenty of options for drop-in speaker replacement in these trucks. You don't need to make custom rings or mounting brackets, inexpensive aftermarket adapters can be found on Amazon.

      Just head over to crutchfield. Plug in the make and model of your vehicle and they'll give you a list of speakers that fit. Then they throw in all of the adapters and brackets you need for free.

    I've been tossing the idea of upgrading budget mix n match 2 way components to an actively crossovered 3 way front stage, but driver selection is a biggie.as far as drivers I know what I'm looking at I'm an audio enthusiast it's just you don't know what your actually getting until you listen to it. I as most want the best for the least amount of money. $200 drivers are just not an option. But Dayton and peerless are quite affordable like $50 +/- midbass drivers for example. How are those SB drivers as far as SQ compared to Dayton, Peerless ect. GRS and Goldwood for example seem just budget oriented. Miss and tweets are another mystery. I did look at a Dayton mini Air motion transformer (AMT) tweeter that seems nice and has a attractive description and reviews and just seems cool looking and different.

    • @DIYAudioGuy
      @DIYAudioGuy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've never done a listening comparison between SB acoustics and the other drivers that you mentioned. But I am perfectly happy with them. I don't really consider myself an audiophile, and I don't claim to have golden ears.

      @@DIYAudioGuy yeah I'm not what people refer to as an "audiophile" I think it's a conceated term. My hearing is really bad working in construction and a metal shop but when I hear something that sounds awesome I can hear it ya know. My fronts actually sound pretty decent it's just I think being into audio is an actual addiction... And it's always upgrade upgrade upgrade to me and alot...messed up I know. I am pondering the way to get that next level. On bass side I wents years with a 12" Polk db on 250w in 1.5cf and I got the bug to upgrade and went 15nvx in 3 cf on 1200wrms to 2 15" American Bass XRs in 7cf on 1800wrms Audiopipe and there rated for 1500w each and knowing they have alot more potential I want to step up to at least 3k... I need to go to audio detox n rehab!

      There's nothing wrong with having a hobby and there's nothing wrong with upgrading your gear. As long as you're are financially responsible no harm will come from upgrades. Now, if your kids are starving or if you're putting a $5,000 stereo on a credit card at 20% interest maybe it's time to reconsider. It really is all about balance.

    Ha I just see the video with the AMT tweeter I'm curious to see the results. I'm looking at replacing my Audiopipe APCLE1800 and cheap Soundstream 4 channel and maaaby going 100% Toro amps (there R6 half bridged 3.2k rms (4k at advertised 0.5 ohm stability) mono and 2 of there 100wrms x4 amp the RX4s there made by MASSIVE but are trying to be more independent stand alone type brand vs there rebadged cheap line I have one of there 500w a/b monoblock in my pickup and it seems to have good power n SQ, and there fairly new so there affordable. The describe there multi channels as SQ but prob just marketing, I will be using a DSP from someone not Shure who likely Dayton Audio control is very pricy, anyone have any good but affordable DSP suggestions?.

    • @DIYAudioGuy
      @DIYAudioGuy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The one from Dayton audio is the least expensive DSP on the market. As such it will have fewer features than more expensive processors. You might also give mini DSP a look.
      As far as the AMT tweeter goes. I'm am liking them just fine. My primary motivation for using them was fill in The highs that were missing from my little mid-range drivers. The mid-ranges do great up to 20khz If you are on axis, which I am not. The AMTs do a great job of filling out those high frequencies, Even off axis. I think I have them crossed over at 10,000 Hertz, and I had to turn them down quite a bit in the DSP.
