Random question on 3rd gens, is it normal to have a little side to side free play in the steering wheel no matter what you do or fix on the front end steering? Seems like no matter what I do the steering wheel feels a little loose for a second before it gets firm when trying to keep the truck going straight down the highway. Thanks for any info! Please post more videos more often, love the channel.
Yes. There’s only so far you can take the steering on these trucks as the base design of a T linkage just isn’t perfect. If you don’t have EMF bushings on your steering though I highly recommend adding them. That addresses the common play in the upper column bushing that will still be present after everything else has been replaced. www.cjcoffroad.com/products/emf-dodge-ram-intermediate-shaft-bushing?_pos=1&_sid=ef323a1ec&_ss=r
@@JustDiesels Thanks for the info! I did add the end bushings and it helped a bunch. The only thing I have left to replace is the steering gear box, but there really isn't much play. Glad to know now that I can stop chasing perfection.
@@The_MM_Lifethere is also 2 steering setups for third gens. Y link and T link. Later years like my 07 have the T link and is a better setup than the Y link. It is swappable as well. Kinda exspensive to do.
Are you still enjoying your NRE Tunes? Once I used their tunes I began getting over fueling warnings (with the glow plug/grid heater light) and I believe the shifting points are worse off, especially going into OD as it has major turbo bark. I didn’t have this before the tunes.
Yeah I have zero issues! Nick’s tuning is all custom so if you’re having issues, reach out and he can troubleshoot and send revised tunes. That’s the whole benefit of using a smaller volume custom tuner- take advantage of having him to help you dial things in!
Is there an extra cost for the EFI live tunes with this? Is it cheaper than going with an EFI live tuning option? I think I’m confused with this option vs buying EFI live?
Is this similar to efi live just with the ezlynk plug in instead of an autocal? I’m doing a some mechanical upgrades (turbo, lift pump, manifold) and would like to step up from my smarty jr. To a more custom fit tune.
It’s a thing, but way leas common than the internet makes it seem. People just need something to complain about and since Ram swapped all the trucks to CP4 pumps, lifters are the new topic. Just change your oil every 5k with the correct spec, and enjoy the truck haha.
Question to clarify: When you are updating the app and waiting to hear back from the tuner, do you leave the key in the on position? Salute 🫡 by the way. Great video.

Mine does the same. Feels like there’s no cure to it

@@Rubberthumper Thanks for the help, good to know that it is most likely the best it can be.

This is a different platform than EFI. Basically simpler, easier, and less hardware cost. Same end results and tuning though.
@@JustDieselsdoes NRE do anything with the transmission in their tunes? Shift points? Converter lock up?

Yep! It’s basically just an easier more modern version of efi live. My truck was tuned via efi and this is way simpler.
Do you have to have truck on tender when you retune your truck?
Nah but it’s nice to do as a just in case.
Any thoughts on Ram 5th Gen lifter failure? Why am I now hearing about it ?

Nope! You just let the vehicle sit off until the tunes come in.
@@JustDiesels thanks brother. What’s the price on this?
Can you look over all the files that are sent to decide what you want to use and then come back, say a day later and install?
