      I understand your point about TH-cam instruction… but I was able to go from a 120 golfer to a 90 golfer just from TH-cam (and a lot of range hours). It definitely has its drawbacks but if you commit yourself to learning the golf swing and figuring out what works for you, it can be extremely helpful. You do reach a point (probably where I’m at) where TH-cam has dininishing returns and you should seek out a pro for lessons

      @digs- it actually hurts you long term. if you go for lessons with ingrained bad habits, they take much longer to remove. i dont make the rules. they are undeniable. you were more helped by the range time and playing more golf.
      now you have all the swing thoughts and poor fundamentals and a coach has to work them out of you slowly

    No word of a lie, I am a pretty rubbish 24 handicap golfer, and I've been shooting between 96 and 104 for a while, unable to get any improvement. I watched this last week or so, and have tried to incorporate it into my game, and today, for the first time ever, I shot 88 on a par 72. No jokes man. This kind of practical stuff... works. No nonsense about swing mechanics and all that, just played my own game, followed these rules, and voila... Over the moon! From one Saffer to another, thank you boet.

    Not kidding, didn't take my driver out, my biggest club was a 4 iron that I hit 175-185yrds
    First round I shot a 88 and second round a 87.

    Such good advice. being someone who can hit it far 275-300 with the driver but accuracy is spotty, I tend to equate distance with scoring lower but really what I need to do is improve my course management. To be honest golf has always been about having fun, having beers, not taking ourselves seriously, and attempting "Hero" shots that really pile up the strokes when they don't pan out. I just got a launch monitor and decided to work on my game and this will be great out on the links. thanks for making these videos.

    Broke 90 yesterday at PGA West Stadium course - didn’t use this particular method, but used your other strategies - avoided all bunkers and hazards. Had a few double bogeys, but the most pars I’ve ever had in a single round - shot an 87 and the wind was around 30mph. Hit the green on famous #17 (Alcatraz) and missed my birdie putt by about 2 inches for a tap in par.

    These videos have been incredible. Started watching and in the past 3 round went 96, 92, 88. Haven't seen under 90 in too many years. Now I only carry a 3W (17), 4/5 hybrid (24), 7 (34), 9 (43), wedge (54), and a putter. Easy peasey.

  • @migs8171

    I put my driver up for sale, it nearly went in the bin I can break 90 often but when I don't it's usually my driver thats killed my round, anyway its gone, I hit my 3 wood 245 carry in good uk conditions, more than enough for most courses near me. Played 9 today 2 birdies, 1 triple 1 double, shot 43 and it was the driver that did me on both those holes.

    • @danielowen5889
      @danielowen5889 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Don't give up on that driver... a 245 3 wood is massive... maybe just cuddle a few nights with your driver,sweet talk it.. it will come back..

      get a lesson on driver

    • @edkolbe1850
      @edkolbe1850 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      For me it depends on range time. My driver is the most inconsistent weapon in the bag. I need about 20 shots with it on the range to feel comfortable. If I don't get that I usually tee off with my 7 iron for the first couple of holes to get my swing situated. On the bright side it is my 188-200 club

    Started golfing last spring for the first time to join my friends. Became hooked very quickly and had some potential as I have played swinging sports my whole life. My goal last year was to break 100 which I did shooting a low of 92. This spring I set the goal of breaking 90 but with an added tool kit from binge watching Matty boom boom for a few weeks. Shot an 85 2 days ago using the shot shaving system in my 5th round of the season!! Matt is truly the king of course managing. There is a difference between swinging a club and “playing” golf. This commentary is spot-on. I am a 9 handicap who is capable of hitting the driver 330 yards or more but seldom hit it well enough to make that the right strategy. After many years of trying to smash every shot I now have used almost exactly the thoughts expressed in this video. It really does work. By hitting 4 or 5 irons (195-210 yds) off all the teres just last week I was sitting 1-over through seven holes. Yes, I messed up the last two holes but I was on the right track.

      @@GolfSidekick You are correct. One follow up comment. I played 9 holes Monday. I went to the range to prep and took the driver with me to try something. Hit it well enough that I changed my strategy from small-ball to driver and that cost me big. Hit it well but left and right on first four holes. Lost 4 shots due to this. Put it away after three holes and hit 5-iron the rest of the holes. Awesome ball=striking followed...every fairways and on or near each green. Shot +7 on first three holes, then 1-over next six holes and nearly made two birdies. I love this new approach and see the results for myself. Now I just have to stay the course. Thanks for the videos !!

    Very enlightning video, and great tips too.
    Shows how challenging it is to play 90 or under as club player regularly . This is my challenge too.
    My weaknesses is that I love using 56 and 60 degrees for chipping. Its same like in tennis making the winning shots. Maybe should test this summer 9 iron too!
    I focus atm on shots btw 60-120 yards shots, training them regularly diring the playing season. That game has indeed improved by repetitions. Meaning that you are able to get 60-70% of the shots into the green. The rest are closeby.
    Surely how many puts you do makes the difference in the end.
    Anyway, your advice on play strategy are surely worth while testing. 🙏.

    Holy crap this worked. I haven't broken 90 since I broke my elbow in 2011. I just shot 86 after watching this video and my mind is blown.

    Thank you Playa. I've been struggling to break 90 despite my swing improving. Crushed it today with an 85. Playa way is the only way.

    In the process of trying to break 90. Shoot low 90’s regularly.
    Going to give this a shot, but my trouble is using a 200 yard club off the tee is just as erratic as my driver. I always seem to have a few that go OB and also have a lot of three putts.

      you must always think BALL IN PLAY
      if driver is fine for THAT hole, hit it
      if a 175 yard or 150 yard club is good, use that
      hit the best shot to get the ball in play in that very moment
      its about confidence and feel
