from 104 to 83 in a 3 months of golf after not playing for 16 years, 'Golf Sidekick' and 'Not a Scratch Golfer' have helped enormously with getting back into the game. I was a 10 handicap in my 30's and feel like if I follow the advice here I can maybe get to single digits in my second golf life here in my 50's.

Brother, I have been watching your videos and learning to leave my ego in the cart. By focusing on keeping the ball in play, away from bunkers I broke 100 today for the first time! I shot a 93 today on a course that I shot a 111 just 42 days ago. I haven’t had any lessons or any reasons to reduce my score 18 strokes. I’m just playing smarter… ugly golf… hitting my 6iron well and that’s giving me good opportunities to chip and putt. Thank you my brother. Drinking a beer in the clubhouse for you right now. One love from South Carolina!

Broke 80 for the first time a couple weeks ago. Entire round asked myself “What would golf sideskick do?” “You don’t need to be a hero!” Talked myself through each shot like I was watching one of your videos. What a feeling, waddaplaya!!
Just ordered a head cover from you… will help me stay zen & hopefully get a few more sub 80 rounds under my belt.

I haven't played golf in years. Took golf sidekicks advice and teed off on each hole using a hybrid. Attacked the course with my 175 club, my chipper and some wedges. Played a championship course in Turkey. Had 2 OOB. Those two OOB cost me sub 90. I shot a 91. Leave the driver and your egos at the house!

@@YoonPark-zu1ps What kind of a comment is that? Yes, the 83 is valuable. Even if it went off the very forward tees (I.e. the front tees), it is still valuable. Going from 98 to 83 is an INCREDIBLE improvement!

@yoon… golf is about hitting the clubs you love to hit. It’s about strategy. Strategy is hitting from the tees that allow you to hit your best clubs most often. Have you not watched any of “Golf Sidekick’s” videos? 83 is respectable from any tee box.

I still watch the 3 part 18 hole video of breaking 90 with out hitting more than 150 when my game is feeling off and it always brings me back. Every time i go back to a full bag thinking I am going to take a scoring leap, i start playing poorly again. Switch back to the half set of evens, sand wedge, mini driver and putter and its back to the low 90s. This is the best golf advice on youtube.

I am watching and absorbing intently. I am among your toughest challenges, but I am on the path - The Way of the Playa
Haven’t played more than quarterly for the past 10 years or so.
Played 7 rounds in the past 6 weeks. Chronologically, the scores have been:
    123
    115
    113
    111
    121 - WTF?
    109
    109
What has improved with a few hours of dedicated practice:
Down to 3 or 4 3-Putts from 6 or 9 per round. Probably 3-4 hours of putting practice has accomplished this.
Down to 0 or 2 double chips from 5-6 per round. Just GIOTG. Focusing on each shot.
Playing to Texas as much as possible.
Par is a social construct! 6 is a good score on any hole, and 7 is survivable. I do change the card as you suggest.
    What still needs work:
Full shots are sometimes still topped or thinned, even off the tee. Probably at least 5-7 of these wasted shots per round. I suspect ball position and trying to hit it too hard still. Got to set up correctly and swing easy. I did have a lesson last week that I think is helping.
Still going OB about thrice per round. Even with irons only! I’ve hit every club in the bag OB 😂
Still can and will get better at putting and chipping. More practice needed.
The best thing has been keeping a positive attitude and enjoying the day. I don’t get mad anymore. Goldfish memory. The only shot that matters is the next shot.
Just glad to be out there and getting better.
Playing this Sunday. Same course as 5 of the 7 rounds so far. Will report back.
Thank you for changing my game. I will break 100 one day, and probably soon. But no pressure!

    • @guyr7351
      @guyr7351 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Love that expression goldfish memory will have to remember that.
I am taking lessons got down to 16, 30+ years ago started again 2 years ago. Only broken 100 a couple of times but much better scores are coming. My eclectic card for the two clubs I play at are -2, +2. The two courses are chalk n cheese. Drives me mad that I have parred or better every hole one one course yet struggle to get into the 90’s.
Going to have to watch a lot of these videos ref course management and shot selection.
Your game sounds like mine I can hit a cracking drive then a terrible approach. Be 20 yards of the green in two then take 4 to get down. It’s a great game though

For the last few years I've been around a low to mid 90s golfer. This year I've had more round in the 80s than I've ever had. I have been using some of the tips from this channel to help get more consistent. The chipping episode where Eric showed how to better do the 40 yard shot has been great. It took me a couple rounds (thats where I practice) to get better at it because I changed my normal way of doing that shot but it has worked out because it has actually helped me with some longer shots as well. I also am not worried about coming up a little short of the green because I feel much better about getting on the green. I actually went 5 rounds in a row breaking 80, then fell apart and had 3 rounds above 90.

What a big difference, thank you again!!

Thank you Matty Boom Boom! I've been following you here on the tube for several months. You have the one system that I trust! I picked up a used taylor made sldr mini driver (14 loft) and it has made such a huge difference! I had been teeing off with a 3 wood, but with the sldr, I can hit it confidentially, so on wide open holes, I use it. On the more narrow holes, I still use the 3 wood. I used your method (stroke index 1-9, add 2, stroke index 10-18 add 1) to break 100. Today I shot a 93. I was ok getting bogeys, I hit a few par-skis, and even had a couple of birdie putts. Your system works!! I can see now that 90 is my next goal. Thank you Playa!! So now I have - a driver I can count on, a good 3 wood that goes around 160, a 3 hybrid, 5 hybrid, 7, 8, 9, PW, 56, 52, 56, and putter. I have a couple of other clubs, but I don't use them, and thanks to you, the 60 LW stays home. I try to hit my PW in the back yard almost every day. I work on short chips, toe down chipping, and 30-50 yard shots. I go to a local school's football field to practice half to 3/4 swing 7, 8, 9 irons for dis-tansees up to 100 yards instead of chunking (like some of the guys in the group I play with) wedges. Your insight has made the game much more enjoyable and I hope soon to be a b-aouce like you. Cheers!

Damnnnnn Boi. Wadda clinic. I have fallen from the way of the Playa and totally stopped keeping guard at the entrance of my mind. Watching far too much technical crap on TH-cam. My irons are Sheeit. My driver sucks. Time to get back to swinging my swing and adhering to the WOTP. Thanks BAUS for the wake up call.

I've been watching your videos for quite sometime and recently took alot of your advice to break 90. I played smart, safe stress free golf and shot an 89 last Sunday. Appreciate all that you do. Keep on swingin Playa. I'm going to try one of those mini drivers when I can afford one.

I want to say thanks, yesterday I shot an 88 (albeit on a par 64 short course) by following your advice. I hit my driver (which I'm comfortable with) on appropriate holes. I played to getting on the green in GIR+1. I went to my most comfortable clubs on the bad lies.

Hey mate just got back from Thailand. Didn't get much course time due to the wet season but picked up a new set of clubs(secondhand). I am super excited by how they are feeling much better than my old Wilsons.

Still the best purchase of my life the old M1 3 hybrid.
Getting the consistent tee club, playing the correct tees, staying out of the woods, water and wasteland led to smashing scoring barriers.
Best thing to do, play with a broskito who tracks your scores rather than doing it yourself, they know where you're at and you can jam stress free!

This is how I try to play all the time. The key is to pick the right golf course (one with few forced carries) and the right distance from the tees, for which you can find formulas out there. Then, make sure you know your distances with all your clubs and play it safe. I am happy scoring in the 40s for 9 holes.

Been watching everyone of your videos for a couple months. Broke one hundi, now 4 shots so far at breaking 90. Shot a 90 even today at coyote creek. On one par 4 shot a 9 iron off the tee and an approach wedge right onto the green, parred it. My buddy said, “you are some kinda wizard.” He then proceeded to blast his driver into the woods and shoot an 8 😂. Breaking 80 coming soon!

Golf is strange sometimes. There are times when you hit a great shot, but it winds up a less than stellar result. Other times you hit a terrible shot however the results are nearly perfect.
Played a dogleg left par 5. Tee shot is over water with an okay landing area then turn left. Off the tee I landed about 3 feet to the left of a creek that is O.B. right. Hit an okay 2nd and 3rd shot, however my 3rd shot leaked right and left me under some trees. Tried to play a low punch shot to clear a second water hazard, straight bladed. Well that ball sailed low and had enough spin to skip the pond 5 times and rolled up about 2 feet from the green. Got up and down for a bogey. I couldn't stop laughing after that pond skim shot.
That round I also pushed several shots right, after they sailed out of bounds they found a trees and pinballed back onto a playable surface...
