    I've just started my golf journey & came across your video.. Like you I've had a rough time lately & taking up golf has given me a reason to leave the house & meet people (all be it at the range). I'm hoping to get on a course in the next few weeks. Who knows I may record some stuff too... Thanks for sharing..

    Been playing my local par 3 all year, can’t wait to see how I will do on an 18 hole course!
    This course however looks crazy difficult!
    Also golf saved my mental health back in 2010, saved me going to a bad place and took me to a wonderful place. It still helps me to this day.

    I started playing last May/June. ( I did play as a kid 40odd years ago but haven't even hit a ball in over 30 years) managed to break 100 on my 8th full round. ( have hit mid to high 90s since) It's not about hitting great shots it's about hitting shots that you can guarantee the outcome.
    Keeping it in the fairway and of of trouble is key to breaking 100. Course management and knowing when to "Take your medicine!" is also key. We all hit bad shots what ruins scores is consecutive bad shots.
    If you hit it in the rough a short chip back on the fairway is the best shot rather than trying to hit a mid or long iron at the green to make up for hitting in the rough.. At this level it ain't happening.You need to hit 100s or even 1000s of shots out of the rough to be able to be able to know when you can get one out with distance or whether you have little to no chance of even getting it out with a wedge.
    My putting happens to be very good (it's about he only part of my game that remains any good) My chipping and pitching was excellent (40 years ago) but I drop shots trying to be too clever. I score better with a 8 or 9 iron bump and run or a long range putt that trying to hit a 60degree wedge to pitch it 6 feet from the pin with a hop and stop. Yes I can play that 75% of the time. but the time you need it in stiff to save par is the 25% when you get under it and flop it 10 feet in front of you rather than 20 yards or worse you thin it straight through the green and make a double or even a triple..
    I haven't played this year as I haven't been well but hoping to get up the range in the next week or so.
    I'll be working on Iron strike and shaping the ball Draw or Fade. I'll then work on Driver I hit it pretty well but short 210-230 yards. It's not bad strike for me it's club speed I swing around 90mph. My aim is to get that up to 100mph with better technique rather than more effort. My aim this year is to get close to 90.

    • @MindfulGolf_
      @MindfulGolf_  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Nice work mate, yeh you're right definitely. Especially regarding not being able to guarantee the outcome of shots, that feels like where I'm at currently!
      Keep going mate, best of luck getting near 90 👍

  • @84motopics
    @84motopics 19 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    When someone is a mid to high handicapper, i think it helps hugely to understand how to aim for your handicap pars and not the course pars. Being a 28 handicap, you get one extra shot for all 18 holes, then a second shot for the hardest 10 holes on the course (the scorecard will list the difficulty of each hole 1-18th difficulty). So if a par 5 is one of the hardest holes, instead of feeling like a failure for a double bogey 7, understand that your personal par is actually a 7. This sort of thinking will help you enjoy your round much more. Another way to enjoy high handicap golf, is to count your Stableford points. If you're not sure how that works, do a search on Google or TH-cam.
    It's important to be realistic with your golf. Most golfers aren't and that's why they spend the whole round swearing under their breath haha.
    All the best for your golf journey!
