    I really like the strategy of growing lower overall players like this by playing them next to your superstars. Not necessarily your 70 overall AHL potential guys, but mid 70s maybe low 80s. They can sometimes hurt your superstars stats so you have to be careful but it’s a really good way of growing those guys. I’ve even seen tons of growth from guys with exact potential after they’re 27.

    • @ManOfTheRitt
      @ManOfTheRitt  ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Yeah even when they're exact, it can definitely swing a lot either way in certain circumstances

    • @russburling6898
      @russburling6898 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah I've had Domi & a couple other guys from like 85 to 89 at 27 after a great season on the top line

      @tateanderson213 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@ManOfTheRitt Yet so many people think once a player hits “exact” potential that they’re “done growing.” I can’t stand when people say that because it’s not true. They’re done with any natural growth sure, but I’ve seen so many exact potential guys jump based on how well they play. On my team and on AI controlled teams.

    You did not put him on the powerplay except for the first year which is why he underperformed in the later years

    Cool idea I just thought of while watching this video is creating a player with offensive only stats and all the other stats are at 36. Neutral stats like speed can be at 66 or around there, place them in the NHL and see how many points they get.
    Also Laflamme was off the powerplay every year except his first one I'm pretty sure, that could've changed things.

    • @HeyRoosty
      @HeyRoosty ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think he did something similar before, I remember seeing him make a 99 everything offensive player with the rest of the stats being much lower. Wish I remembered the video name for ya.

    I think it was actually bad that the potential accuracy was "high" because of all the sims I do, they are significantly less likely to go up in potential to elite/franchise or anything really. I find low and medium if you can get them to get goals or points to win awards, there is a high likelihood they will boost to next potential level at end of 2nd year. I was able to get 3 elite rookies to franchise in 2 years by playing the last 10 minutes of every 3rd period so that one guy had most points, another most goals, and another most assists in reg season.. then most points and most goals in playoffs combined with a Stanley cup win. That was the quickest I've been able to boost them. Awards play a massive factor in overall

    Do one with a 99 overall player with low ahl bottom six potential and see how fast he drops.

  • @samst-george3566
    @samst-george3566 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Try putting him as either a playmaker or sniper with High Bottom 6 Potential @ 18yrs old.. the 70 ovr is good.. could put him on PP to up his points even more.. also it’d be fun if you were to add an X-Factor everytime he hits every decade in points.. (if he hits 30, +1 X-Factor, if the following season he doesn’t hit 40, he stays at one X-Factor, if he hits 40 and so on, you add one)

  • @machinegunc1325
    @machinegunc1325 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Do something just like this, but do a custom team with all 99, high franchise potential, except for one person, who's gonna be 36ovr, low AHL bottom 6. Make everyone 18 too. Then, do a career sim, and see how everyone does

    I miss the star potential compared to the “role potential” we have now. Players simply can’t outgrow whatever their potential is. A guy drafted in the 6th round with an ahl potential will never make the big show, while if you had a guy with 2 1/2 stars, he could actually grow past a 75.
    I had a guy that was 2 1/2 green stars in nhl 14, he ended up growing to an 89 overall and had an insane career.

  • @The_Masked_1der
    @The_Masked_1der ปีที่แล้ว

    Pretty sure it's his potential is the top they can go, and the high, low and exact is the likelihood of reaching it. So therefore an ahl top6 fwd potential will never get higher than that, it is just the likelihood that changes. And the closer he gets , the closer to exact it is.. players tend to progress better in the game if they play in the role they currently are at, so if your top6fwd potential is currently a bottom6fwd according to his card or stat sheet, you're better off playing him bottom 6 and hoping for good stats, than putting him in the higher position when he's not ready.. it can bite you if you have too many set up for the same roles, as some will always falter, but the players definitely progress better that way, and will rise up fast

    McDavid went to a 99 in my 2nd season with only getting about 85-90 points in S1 (I'm not the Oilers) which is a bit annoying coz it says he's "the GOAT" essentially , games need to leave room for improvement. A game like Fifa only has half a dozen players in the world rated in the 90's, which is how it should be but NBA, NHL n NFL games seem to abuse 90+ ratings. Back in the day NBA Live would only have 2-3 players in the 90's now it seems every team has a couple.

    • @chrismdb5686
      @chrismdb5686 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd argue that there's an argument to be made about multiple 90+ ratings running around the current NHL, specifically with the amount of groundbreaking scoring that has happened as of late. Karlsson with the first 100 point season from a DMan in decades, McDavid with the first 150+ point season in decades, etc.
      The dead puck era is officially over and it seems to have ended at the perfect time considering the crazy amount of talent in the league.

  • @chungang7037
    @chungang7037 ปีที่แล้ว

    Unless you play manually for every game players do not develop, the sim engine will select 1-3 players a year for real growth among your prospects and it will be very very random, often some random top 6 you don't care about. Even elite players fizzle out 9/10 times. However, if you trade them away after drafting them other teams WILL DEVELOP them, and you can trade for them later. This is a lame workaround, and defeats the point of having agency as a GM in player development. Goalies get shafted either way, as manual games even with lots of shutouts do not develop them, if anything they often see negative development. It is a bug or feature from EA, but either way they don't care about franchise mode so all this is moot.
