True. Every year at harvest time we had a steam engine come to our village to provide power for the threshing machine. It would rumble down the road with whistle blowing and smoke belching out and the people who lived on route would come out to see it pass and wave to the driver. This was in the 1950,s.

He loved trains as all kids do. Then his friend asked him to put his name on several private train cars. Sone of the signs were painted in our garage on huge pieces of metal, then they took them to the train yard and the guy who knew all about how to put them on did the rest. My mother used to have some pics of the train cars with the signs on them. I don’t know where they are.

As children our favorite pastime was watching the trains go by, we knew the exact time they would come ,I remember going on day trips to the seaside on them.
Reminds me when my aunt was dieing, and we heard the sound of the train, and she said, " my son is in that train, tell him I love him if I don't see him any more" she died before he came from train station.😢😢❤
At first, I was wondering what the big deal was. Then I saw it come around the curve and went OooooooooK. That is a gorgeous machine. Definitely worth watching.
My Dad was a section foreman for the old NP Railroad. I used to ride in that year passenger car and once even got to tide up front with the fireman and engineer . That was 75 years ago and I remember it like it was yesterday.
I always tell people that when they wake up in the middle of the night and hear a train sounding its horn in the distance, they can go back to sleep with a smile: if the trains are still running, all is well with the world.
My grandfather, James J. Stanard, was an engineer on the New York Central based out of Cleveland. He used to show me the open fire of the steam engine. Impressive to 8 year old eyes. He worked on the Panama Canal. He was a great man. The sound of a train brings back the child in all of us!
I agree. I get the same feeling of calmness when i hear a propeller driven aircraft off in the distance. Sometimes i wonder if its a memory from a past life...🤔
I’m 81, and it’s been so long since I’ve seen a steam engine really get fired up! Thank you so much for the memory….. Just watched it again and I’m in tears.
My family has a long long history working with the railroads. These trains always make me so nostalgic. They used to run through the small towns like where I grew up. Right next to houses and such. Mere feet away!
My wife and I took a weekend trip to Cass West Virginia and saw and heard the steam locomotive. I was about 20 feet away when that whistle blew. That was the loudest thing I'd ever heard. Then came the echo and my childhood memories of when my dad, from Spencer West Virginia, told me about the echo of the old steam whistle when he was a kid in the mountains of West Virginia. I sure miss him and his stories.
My dad loved trains. I have been on train rides in almost every state. Cass Railway was my favorite. One of a kind ride. Old logging railroad with a switch back layout. Very action paked ride with all the steaming forward and then steaming back up the mountain. They have/had a caboose at the top of the mountain you could rent. No electricity and only way back is the next day when the train comes back up the mountain.
Wish we had wonderful rides like that. Public trans is terrible in the states for the most part. I live in western NY & we have to go to the city & find our way from there to the south. The train is dirty, & reports say the safety measure are not being met.. They are late most times I have been to meet them. Then there are buses. Yuck!! All we have are cars. We need more help w the trains. Tracks just for transport. Tracks just for products. Both important.

True true!!!!
Every Boy & Girl In America Must See & Hear This Before It's Too Late !
Beautiful machine. It's great that there are people taking care of old trains, cars and whatnot.
I hear the trains rolling out of the city in the early morning darkness every morning. I have not been a person who wakes up early in the morning, yet I awake in the early mornings to hear the trains whistles, all I can do is pray for all the people aboard to get to where they are going safely.❤😂❤
The roar of a train is like the afterburners of an F22 or being on a race track and hearing those engines of the high performance cars.
The guys driving this train must be having a great. I just love the sound of the chugging. Nothing can beat it! So awesome!!❤😊
Turned volume up on my phone as asked, what a beauty, made the hairs on my arm stand up, just something nostalgic about steam trains 🥳🥳
The Appalachians are beautiful my Russian friend. Hope you get to see them someday.
@@aaronwatkins8973🤣 how do you even know he is russian???
@@svitozar8618 But, I am really from Russia!
Every single man is doing the Dad stance. I love it
At first, I was wondering what the big deal was. Then I saw it come around the curve and went OooooooooK. That is a gorgeous machine. Definitely worth watching.
My childhood was like this, I rode trains like this, I'm in 1967, those were beautiful times, greetings from Poland 🇵🇱
Hello, from Chicago.
You're in 1967? I'm in 2023
My Dad was a section foreman for the old NP Railroad. I used to ride in that year passenger car and once even got to tide up front with the fireman and engineer . That was 75 years ago and I remember it like it was yesterday.
I drove them in the 1940s, also in Poland. Those were beautiful times
Agreed, just coal and water is required to run this locomotive. But still some oil is required to make lubricant grease.
USA. Pennsylvania
I turned the volume up and wow! Smiling here. Thankyou...😮😅😊
Takes me back to my childhood. Nothing like the sound of a train at night while you're going to sleep.
It takes me back to grandma's house, sleeping in the comfy bed, with the starched and ironed sheets.
I always tell people that when they wake up in the middle of the night and hear a train sounding its horn in the distance, they can go back to sleep with a smile: if the trains are still running, all is well with the world.
Reminds me of camping by the train tracks in our tent and hearing the trains passing in the night
Yes yes 💯♥️
Oh I know
As a person raised in a coal mining camp in sotheastern Kentucky that whistle sure is a lonesome sound.1945-1950.
Wow poetry in motion the sound of that horn makes me feel like I'm watching a western movie
I love trains. My daughter thinks it looks like the polar express. It's beautiful.
One of my favorite movies
My grandfather, James J. Stanard, was an engineer on the New York Central based out of Cleveland. He used to show me the open fire of the steam engine. Impressive to 8 year old eyes. He worked on the Panama Canal. He was a great man. The sound of a train brings back the child in all of us!
Makes m think of my Uncle William Henry, man bought me my first train set one Christmas, been in Love ever since!!
I don’t know why but there is something calming about that. Like rain on a tin roof. ❤
Train ASMR …..
I'm in feeling with you!
My family has a long long history working with the railroads. These trains always make me so nostalgic. They used to run through the small towns like where I grew up. Right next to houses and such. Mere feet away!
Thank you for this video. What a beautiful sight and sound!!!!!!
That train whistle... Pure bliss and nostalgia... 😍😍😍
Train is amazing, and thank you to all the people involved with running it and keeping it running.
And designing and creating that magical machine!!
Excellent maintenance ❤
Now that ladies and gentlemen is a REAL TRAIN
EXACTLY
Yessss 😮
What a beautiful sight, and the blend in with nature around ,class
This was awesome to watch, I bet even more awesome to watch it LIVE

Thanks so much for your reply.
Your adventures on all those trains would be very interesting and fun.
What site to see
. May grandfather's house was next to a train station, loved it.. still do . I can hear trains where ever I live...❤❤
Great memories
Thankyou for sharing video of Golden Era of Steam Locomotive, Yard , Beutiful Station, Driver & Guard
❤❤❤❤
So very cool!! My grandfather was an engineer on those locomotives!! He loved it!
Awsome, I enjoyed hearing the Steam Train and watching it pass by wish I was sitting in one of the Train cars. A sight to Behold. 😀💕❤️💕🚂🚂😊🥰😀
What a timeless, classic beauty! It's elegant and truly majestic! Even the sounds coming from it was filled with so much story and nostalgia. Amazing video! ❤
Verdad!!🇦🇷
Im glad to see there were alarms sounding before it got there
That combustion sound was🔥🔥🔥
Lovely sound - remember it when I was younger. They where just about gone when I was a youngster. Remember seeing them being repaired at the long gone Aurora IL round house / repair shop.
The simple fact that that sound is still heard, is an indication of our love and respect of our history.
That sound made my insides feel good feels old is that what trains sounded back in the day
Amen and Amen
To były piękne czasy naszej cywilizacji. Pozdrawiam.
Yes some of us still do
I believe we all just took a one long minute ride to a beautiful era in this magnificent locomotive, the unique sound pierce my heart and and my emotions were everywhere!! Thank you for sharing ❤
Well said💝
Absolutely ❤
