I didn’t show my face with my nail polish company because I was afraid people wouldn’t shop with me because I was black and a large part of my market are white women. I just started showing my face because I believe in what I stand for and those who are for the product and me is what matters most. It’s definitely a growth process.

As a small business owner with a ton of township restrictions, you have helped so much with getting my business to pop up on the radar. I loved your background, it has helped keep the realistic journey in view vs always dreaming of what I want it to be. ❤️
This story reminds me so much of my early and mid 20s. I got depressed and was drinking every weekend and a few times during the week.
I was constantly brooding and my artwork started to get very dark. I became disinterested in a lot of things and became very cynical and negative.
I feel that when I started blogging and submitting my art to magazines things turned a corner.
I started playing with video and TH-cam again and quit my job and became a FullTime freelancer and with more time on my hands I decided to start being consistent with making TH-cam tutorials.
I definitely relate to that space you were in where you didn’t feel in control.
I feel I created my brand in response to my desire and need to take control and ownership of something in my life.

OMG! Working for others has always deeply depressed me, and the way I've coped with it over the past two decades is by becoming a professional horror writer on the side to cope. It's the therapy that pays for itself!

I got so emotional listening to you as I resonate with your story so much! I was miserable working as a stage actress in NYC in my early twenties and I had a similar moment while sitting on a bus going to my day job where it hit me like a ton of bricks: I have to change my life. Went traveling for 6 months, started a blog, wrote on it for 3 years, moved to France where I now am a small youtuber. I totally feel ya girl and you radiate so much light and TRUTH. I am 5 months into my TH-cam journey. About a month ago, I watched one of your oldest videos which is a compilation of your thoughts throughout of one year when you were starting - that video really hit me, it just felt like we are on a similar path, you are just two or three years ahead. Thank you for putting that into words because I've spent years on self-development, the last month alone on overcoming the ego blocks specifically in my career, and I still couldn't quite put my finger on what was holding me back, like it was hiding from me. Until now.

Thank you for this video! I've actually been struggling a lot with my youtube channel since i started 3 years ago and each day the thought of giving up comes to my mind. I always ask myself if I am even worthy of becoming a TH-camr and is it even worth trying? Your videos inspired me a lot because I feel like you are one of the only people to make it clear that you've been doing this for A LONG TIME and that you really have a long journey behind you. I always felt so discouraged when I watched a youtube related video and the person says something along the lines of "It took me a few months to grow my channel". Like this is not a long time at all (in my opinion)! Anyway, I really appreciate your hard work and please don't forget to watch out for your mental health! lots of love 💕

Especially when you said you feel sad and just miserable...even I started to tear up because it is exactly how I feel right now plus tons of anxiety about my job every day. After finding your channel I decided to give youtube a shot (preparing now lol), something I’ve wanted to do for years. I’m not gonna lie... I felt this video, I know it was emotional for you, But thank you, THANK YOU! This was exactly what I needed. I know exactly where you were cause i went through the same thing as well. Right now I’m currently researching and planning my own TH-cam Chanel and it feels daunting. Cathrin, this is a very helpful film. Thank you for making it. I’m starting at the bottom too and for reasons that are not dissimilar to those that motivated you. I’m a lot older though (49!!!) but I think I’ve discovered a sustaining passion here that, if you’d asked me a year ago, I could NEVER imagine myself doing. I can relate to this in regards to my channel as well. I’m like, when I first started I would send them videos and they would critique it and I would delete them. Then I was got to the point where I was like... nope not doing that anymore.

THIS. I feel so seen, and accepted, and motivated. Watched EVERYTHING, and I'm inspired! I've started doing full-on with my branding this year, and have had days where I wanted to just stop, just focus on the job I do love that's making me money, and just close up shop because I feel like I'm making a fool out of myself as I get in front of the camera twice a week for my videos.
But hearing stories like yours, where you kept going and seeing where you're at right now, at almost 200k subs! That inspires me to keep going.

Vulnerability is so so raw and there is so much strength in that. I've been struggling for a couple years because I cannot seem to balance a newborn, 2 year old, cooking all the meals, running the house and building a brand
