- It's time to unleash some Scania power! There are plenty of Scania trucks hauling race cars and equipment in the world of motorsport. This compilation features Scania trucks hauling motorsport Down Under, including everything from an R650 V8 in the Supercars Championship paddock, to a V8 'Gumboot' prime mover hauling an Australian truck racing team, to six-cylinder units pulling TCR Australia and speedway equipment to race tracks across Australia.

as a european, I must say that I'm impressed whenever I see our trucks in places like Australia, they look a bit out of place yet I think they look cool down under

these trucks are great in europe but they fit perfectly to Australia
The ones with a Six Wheel Tractor Unit and two Three Axle Trailers are called B Trains. A six or eight Wheeler tractor and four axle trailer are Quads. The Truck and Trailer Units have Four Axle Truck and Five Axle Trailers. .

1:41 This is why cabovers are good. The long nose on american trucks may look cool but it's inefficient asf let's be honest.
Then again the americans manage to screw up cabovers too putting the front axle as far forwards as they do
Please learn about our weight distribution laws before posting stupid comments. We do not want all of the weight in such a short footprint...
@@DCB1209 Doesn't really change much to me if it's due to regulations or not, but even then the whole weight distribution thing doesn't seem to be much of an issue in the rest of the world. But if laws are the reason they're built the way they are, i can see why cabovers might be less popular. I have a feeling getting in and out of a cab where there's a wheel right under the door would become annoying for starters.
@@supersimon126 And you say the nose on American trucks is inefficient? For Aerodynamics it is easily better than a cab over truck. I'm thinking you are arguing that it is inefficient for tight turns? I will agree with this. Unlike most European roads that have been built around infrastructure dating back to horse and carriage USA roads are much larger and wider. We do not need the tight turning with turning axles on the trailer like a lot of European trucks and trailers.
I have no problem with European trucks and think a fully equipped Scania or MAN heavy spec is absolutely gorgeous. At the end of the day the majority of trucks that haul the most weight in the world are American styled(and owned
) Aussie driven trucks...
@@DCB1209 Ye i meant space efficiency. Having the nose may add to aerodynamics and frontal crash safety and the longer wheelbase may also add to stability but i was thinking more about parking and the times when you're not on a highway. The states have a lot of highway driving that's true but i would imagine tractor/trailers might find themselves in denser cities at times right?
@@DCB1209 I don't dislike the nose or anything like that. I see the benefits of it. There are times and places though when i wonder why things along the lines of a Kenworth K270 aren't just a little more common than they are for in city light/medium weight loads.
