Supercars race transporters arrive in Melbourne on SeaRoad RoRo ship

- Following the Beaurepaires Tasmania SuperSprint last weekend, the Repco Supercars Championship B-Double race transporters returned to the mainland on SeaRoad's Mersey II and MV Liekut vessels from Devonport. SeaRoad kindly escorted us through their Webb Dock facility to film the second and final group of transporters rolling off the 182-metre long Mersey II Roll on/Roll off (RoRo) vessel. The transporters featured carry the equipment of Tickford Racing, Brad Jones Racing, Kelly Grove Racing, Team 18, Team Sydney - TEKNO, Blanchard Racing Team and Dunlop Motorsport respectively. We were also lucky to catch some of the most popular prime movers in the paddock, including a Freightliner Coronado, Mack Superliner, MAN TGX D38, as well as a Kenworth T909 and a K200 pair. Another big thank you to SeaRoad for this opportunity.

Great shots. These are really nice trucks. I've never seen trailers like this before. Unfortunately, this doesn't exist in Switzerland. Much too big and too heavy for our streets. The USA Trucks are looking great.

These are all flash and cash trucks , watch some of the real road train trucks , especially those hauling from the mines , ten trailers , the cattle ones are good as well where they have to really work in all conditions , mud dust flood and fire !

Amazing to see and hear! I am now also curious wat the legal height limit in Australia for trucks is. I knew that trucks can be longer and heavier than most trucks from Europe, but are they also higher than the 4 meter height you see in Europe? This looks more like 4,5 meter or even 5 meter, when I compare the trailers to the tractor unit.
4.6 mtrs, at least in Victoria.🇦🇺
Standard Max height is 4.3m, but if with a simple permit 4.6m. Any bigger then starts to be classed as oversize.

maybe it's me, but those European Cab-overs are SEXY AS HELL! Very aggressive/mean looking IMHO!
Over here in the USA, cabover semis are very rare nowadays. Back in the 1980s & down they were common & popular in the USA.
We still build 'em here.

Over here in the USA🇺🇸, at first I didn't know why they stopped using & selling them & then I've learned it was because the law increased the length limit which made them no longer needed to pull trailers that exceeded a certain length. We use to have a mix of cabovers & conventional cabs back in the 1980s & down. Then when cabovers phased out, more conventional cabs took their places.

Thank you! Yes, they're built to haul Australian freight through the most difficult conditions.
Who makes these trailers? They are interesting and we have nothing like those in the U.S.
These are B-Double configurations, which are fairly common in Australia, but not so much in other parts of the world. However, the race transporters are generally custom-made, like the NASCAR, IndyCar and sprint car transporters would be. Thanks for the question!

Austrlia has b doubles and b triples also or you can pull 3 conventional trailers, as long as the total length doesnt exceed 52.5 m and 120 tonnes net weight, although normally 3 traiker configuration is primarily for long haul interstate , cant pull this length in urban area, my dad best mate has a fleet of these, its all about efficiency. Pulling up to 120tonnes

Tried looking through the comments, but why did some split the trailers and others not?
Guessing they though the ramp, then the dip, would cause the trailers to bottom out on the ramp or on each other (trailer into trailer)

Most of them have spareparts workshop setup in first trailer and one behind would have lounge and supercar behind with trailers. Single ones maybe carring less equipments. We don't have 53 feet one trailers it's just too long for some roads not all. We would rather have double B. Which would also carry more weight. Plus majority of even single long trailers would have Axles turning aswell for better maneuver in tight places. I never been to USA but people who have been there says alot of times, that Australian average trailer engineering is more advanced then the average American trailer.

Someone said so that they can fit them on the ship... but the first truck pulling out, is all hooked up as a combo. And split down and pulls away ?

For someone on the other side of the world… I’ve seen how NASCAR and such racing organizations lay out their trailers for garage and meeting space…. But how are these B-Doubles laid out inside? I figure the second trailer is mostly a garage area… but what is in the first trailer?

You're absolutely right, Zedd36. And to answer your question, the first trailer is pretty much for spare parts and the pit equipment the teams take to each circuit.
