Turned 43 today with birthday 8/30/81 and loved Agassi as a kid. Tried for them right away at 10am and couldn’t hit off SNKRS or undefeated. Too old to try and get shoes from my day and can’t afford aftermarket. Thanks world
I'm 47 I vividly remember these shoes releasing when I was a kid and I would love to have purchased a pair of these but like you said It's generally not even worth trying to get.
This is the first pair of sneakers that I broke my “no reseller” rule for. Did I pay almost double? Yes. Did this review make me feel a little better about that? Also yes.
I had these as a 14 year old and props for the "Home Improvement" as one of my favorite shows too growing up in Michigan. Tim and the kids were always in Nike Air, it was great to see back then on tv.
Agassi was the first tennis player my dad showed me in the late 90s and early 2000s. He then showed me archived matches from the 90s and I remember seeing these and thinking oh god I need them. Missed out in 2014, again in 2019. Finally this morning I got the shoe that I’ve been seeing since I started watching tennis with my dad🔥
I fucking missed on these this morning, which is crazy because last time these came out they sat. These weren’t even hyped. This is the first review that’s come out. And somehow even though the sneaker market is down, they sold out instantly. One of my favorites of all time.
These and the Air Jordan 6 dominated the feet of kids when i was in school, Could never get an original pair of either but these are some of the best designed Nikes of all time. Please bring back the volt and teal green versions of this shoe, but the black/hot lava have to be done. I myself would love to see and white, black and orange pair. Always the best reviews on YT for performane and retros out there.
For me it was the Nike Air Tech Challenge III with the Jordan 6 Black infrared. I fell in love with sneakers mostly due to the Jordan 6s. MJ ruled his sport just he ruled the sneaker world.
Brutal release on these, not paying $300 resell… Hopefully they drop them a second time like they did the Attacks. If not I’ll try in 5-10 years when they drop again.
These would’ve literally been sitting in Nike outlets within a month or so if it wasn’t for resellers creating unnecessary demand and scarcity. I hate resellers with a passion, they ruined everything about buying sneakers 🤦♂️ what’s even worse is that you rarely see anyone wear these shoes in person, it’s just a bunch of clowns buying up every shoe and holding them and if they do wear them it’s usually a small amount of times so they won’t get them dirty or crease them so they can end up reselling them
@@hectorfigueroa2294 it’s sad, it’s more resellers and hypebeasts than there are actual people that know the history and care about the shoes. I honestly feel everyone should go on strike from buying sneakers just to make these resellers lose money lol
Hell yeah bro, Home Improvement was the shit. My father and I would watch together every week. I loved how Tim designed the kids rooms, and when Brad got the haircut with the shaved sides and ponytail on top, I wanted that look too. I was rocking the mushroom haircut at the time, but my hair was long enough to put it up into a ponytail. So I was doing the tribal look for a while. Good times.
First pair of $100 shoes I ever had. Begged my dad for them. He flinched at the $110 price tag, but put those suckers on layaway at Foot Locker and I got them for my birthday! Started a tradition that continues to this day.
This was my all time favorite shoe as a kid. I remember wearing them to school in the seventh grade and getting so many compliments. I have the 2019 pair and was hesitant on buying these because of the artificial aging. They just arrived yesterday and the materials definitely make it worthwhile.
Awesome. I hope you enjoy the shoes. I know the feeling of getting the shoes you want and then wearing them. Even though the parents reluctantly forked over $100+ for sneakers.
Yes, the Agassis! Oh, they need to bust out the OG black and white Air Flares also! Nike 95-96 was the best. They couldn't fail then. AJ11, Barkleys, Pippens, Nike's OG Webbers, Agassi Air Flares, AM95, Deions - peak Nike era.
I owned the OG pair back in 89-90. At the time I was upset because my folks couldn't afford J's. Nobody loved them back in the day, but I learned to love them after wearing them around all of my friends in J's.
Back in the day those were my first Nikes! I love them. And yes, on the originals the back side wasn't puffy at all, it was kind of skinny. I actually remember the feeling of that ribbed top under the fingers.
I need these in my life. Huge Agassi fan as a kid, the outfits, the attitude, the sneakers. Haven't seen anything for Canada yet but I'm hoping not to sell my soul for a pair. Back of the roller-coaster for anything with loops, front for anything which is just drops.
Looks like a family buy. Had to edit but Top Gun was my first rollercoaster too, I was much older in my 20's, my now wife at the time convinced me to go on wink wink, I did but she felt sick after the ride and stayed sick until we got home. The next day without me knowing she took a pregnancy test and now I have an 8 year old boy. I treasure them both and was happy I didn't have to ride bigger rollercoasters that day.
Great review Chris! I had the Blue/Neon Yellow pair in high school. What a flashback! What we need is the Air Trainer Hurrache's and Air Force Max. Both in black! Ah the 90's!!!
Chris I have almost the same exact story as you on the Giant Dipper. I was also 7, Pops and his buddy wanted to ride and my dad wanted me in the front with him. I was scared and ride behind them alone and slid around that cart like crazy. Family still has that pic of me holding on to dear life. No coasters until great America also!
At 02:27 the picture on the right, that's what my PE teacher looked like in elementary school back in the early 90s. What a time. Love the shoes, I can see Jordan 4 elements in it which makes sense since both of them were designed by Tinker Hatfield.
I got a W on these today and I’m super happy about it! You did a great job on this review, showed me exactly what I was hoping to see and hear! I can’t wait until this one lands
That’s awesome that Chris referenced Home Improvement as I remember Tim the Tool man Taylor wearing these too. I reckon I’ll grab them. Great review as always legend!
2014 Version were the best release since the original version. They didn’t come with the original box but the shoe was the closest to the original release in the 90’s
Home improvement has so many deep cuts for me. When you mentioned him rocking these, I looked it up and it’s the pilot where he trashes the dishwasher but him and mark are shirtless. 😭😭😭 That scene/episode and today’s date have such deep personal connections for me, that hitting on these on SNKRS is a sign. Time to get my inner tool man going (my teen daughters eyes will be rolling) 😂😂😂
Dope review. Me and my good friend from home had these on the list. I copped a size 11 and can’t wait to check these out. Agassi was the first tennis player to make an impression on me growing up. Need the Black Lava to drop again now.
Congrats on the Bombas sponsor! Seriously some of the best socks ever! Learning the history of this shoe, I kinda regret not going for them this morning, but oh well. Since you mentioned 90s sitcoms, I believe that roller coaster you guys mentioned was in the intro to Step by Step. Gotta check the footage. Along those lines too, for my QOTD: which 90s show had the best footwear: Home Improvement, Fresh Prince, Seinfeld, or something else?
Totally agree on the back of the coaster for the same reason. Get the most distance and speed on the initial drop. Nike has had some great Labor Day/US Open retro tennis releases. Very happy I hit on these! The Pete Sampras Oscillate from 2015 is one of my favorite shoes in my collection. I got the 2014 version of these from Ross for $50
This is the very first "cool" sneaker I ever owned at 10 years old, even before my first Jordan (which was the Infrared 6 in '91). I got one pair of sneakers every year and this was what kicked off my love for sneakers! (still have the retro from 2019...gonna have to track these down!)
Remember Agassi's legendary tennis career, and him rocking these joints! Always like this color over the neon yellow ones. Disnt he also do a Nikon rebel camera commercial?
QOTD: The ground, baby. I was super into tennis starting in elementary school and all the cool American men's tennis players (Agassi, Michael Chang, Jim Courier, Pete Sampras) really made it a golden era. Talk about nostalgia….the original of this was my first pair of Nike/non-budget shoes (only because my foot grew to a 15) & wore these until they fell apart. I wish retros - especially in Australia - went up to an 18, like a lot of these used to, because being a size 16 means I miss out on a lot of great re-releases.
Fantastic review thank you so much!! I will never forget the year these came out, wanting them so badly and the absolute elation I felt when my parents got me these sneakers and a prince tennis racquet for Christmas! Yea, I was definitely a big Agassi fan. Haven’t had a pair since that initial release so was going for these hard, of course SNKRS was a flop but I was able to secure a pair off Undftd! You mentioned what some of the cast of Home Improvement were wearing and for some reason it reminded me of what the kid from Free Willy was wearing. He wore classic Nike Air maestro's
They most likely just bought them to flip anyway, don’t know or care about the history of the shoe they just want to make money off of it by overcharging people for it 🤦♂️ but that’s the type of people that controls the sneaker market sadly.
Great shoe! I had the Air Tech Challenge. It was a beautiful shoe, very comfortable and like you said cool looking. I wish the bring back the original as I like the low version versus the mid.

My best friend was a year older, but I was way taller, so he was pissed when I could ride it and he couldn’t.
Got mine today from StockX and man are they fire 🔥 I think best sneaker of the year big call but I can’t stop looking at em only sneaker harder and a close second is the Olympic Scottie pippens air max And they are epic too. Cheers for you review it made me want and purchase this awesome sneaker 👌👌👌❤️
Great video like always! These snuck up on me, but they look damn good. I'll probably be grabbing a pair as long as resale isn't ugly. I do wish we got a bit more of Chris's opinion on the comfort though because I have the Radiant Red Air Max III Retros and they're lovely on foot, so if Chris is putting these in that tier of rework then I'd like them to also meet the mark on that aspect.

First Nike Air shoes for me were the Air Tech Challenge 3, will be waiting for these to come back too :)
Glad they made these limited, it’s the reason why the quality is so good…its supposed to be special
Wow this is the one! Cool review as always!
this are amazing, one of the top 10 shoes of all time for me.
Literally pending for my pair right now hope I get them 👍✨
Top Gun was my first coaster too!
These are clean. Got a Nike track suit to go with them.
Got mine today from StockX and man are they fire 🔥 I think best sneaker of the year big call but I can’t stop looking at em only sneaker harder and a close second is the Olympic Scottie pippens air max
And they are epic too.
They ain that amazing if can’t nobody get a pair smh🥲🤦🏽♂️
