You only changed the motor to require a higher voltage (and maybe slightly more output if you could possibly get more by adding a turn or two from the following formula) Motor Force = B*L*A (B = magnetic strength, L = length of wire in the magnetic field, A = current in the wire). So you can see here that if you use smaller diameter wire, you can make more turns but you must also use less current. Therefore, you have not increased the motor torque at all. But you may have changed the kVA so now it may go faster with 3x the voltage with no load but the motor will likely not match the gearbox and the intention of the motor. The original motor designers match the kVA (motor windings, voltage and current, etc.) with the torque and gear reduction and with the speed at which the engine needs to turn.
Bro starter motors are designed for running for a small period of time. By decreasing the gauge of the wire he has reduced the amount of current consumption, so that motor could run for a longer period of time. So he could use it in an E cycle.

... the anealed coil would melt and short on overheat ..you need a big solid copper coiling bar..or similar..it was documented starter motor recommended to run continuesly for only 3 min....

The starter does get weaker and faster by this, but it will heat up slower, so it will run for longer. Good for small electric go-karts. But yes, the bearings will fail sooner.

However, as others have mentioned, reasoning to rewind a motor would be repair melted, otherwise shorted, windings located using a resistance reading multimeter… And please note- !must utilize OEM gauge, length, composition wire as originally installed otherwise changing +/- winding turns, the thickness or gauge of the wire, the orientation of which they are wrapped around, will all change input/output spec calculations based upon required basic engineering formulation. If one does not adhere to the required formula, they will waste a lot of time, cause damage to other components, otherwise, potentially learn how the haphazard process 💫 potentially valuable advice, research PPE regarding chemicals used, and the black powder you will find is also a toxic inhalant. Please research safety and correct process. You will inevitably have a better time!! Good luck.
Hello Realy hope you can help me. Iv got a Fiat 128 1974 model My starter ONLY keep crunking (stuck) if cold. Then i take of negative from battery and it stops. Then put cable back. Then start easy whole day. No problem. In morning it stuck when start for 1st time the day. Its summer now in South Africa. But in winter it stuck 2 to 3 times. Then no problem to start. If car is in sun. And start for 1st time the day sometime start 1st time without keep cranking. Sometimes keep crancking ONLY ones. Then start easy. After it starts. I switch of and starts again. I did it 6 times. Off and start off and start. No no no problem. I take of ignition switch wire from starter and jump it straight to battery this morning. Same problem. Stuck and keep cranking. Have to take of negitive wire to stop. Then try start again. Start at ones, no problem Rrrrealy hope someone no what cause this. Thanks so much.
