Thanks for reviewing it. I bought one, but already had a SIM, so didn't use your link. Couple of points:
* It's 2g, so won't work with Three SIMS.
* If I send it a *locatemap* command, I get back a link to their server, not Google maps as per the documentation. Also the link to their server doesn't work, even though the Lat and Long are correct.
Apart from those minor points, it's a nice device.
The battery will not be a problem, just open it and modify it. Put a small solar panel from CASIO calculators and there you go.

If I had one of these, I would setup a *_danger zone_* at the end of a highway, and start driving towards it.
that odd jump you saw on the map would have been a bad gps location so the tracker decided to use the location of the closest cell tower.
There is one of these that you can bolt on (so you can bolt onto a rack on a bike) that I've just ordered from Aliexpress that for bike seems a better option

think im going to keep this in sleep mode most of the time. im using the "three" pay as you go sim i think its called 3 2 1 3p per min 2p per text 1p per mb
Surely, if a sim card is not used (to make calls or texts, or had any recent payments made to the account) then it would be deactivated by the carrier?
So sleep mode would save on the sim data usage too? I'm impressed too I'm definitely getting one.

True !!but when u look on eBay on some it will have range 5m etc which is tiny honestly they do!! But even when people are demestating those it's never mentioned . I would see that as important .
As I say, it's not mentioned because there is no 'range'. It's like your phone. Does that have a range? You're only limited by the SIM card providers coverage. Ones that have a range, likely aren't actually GPS trackers, they might be bluetooth trackers, which would need to be in range of a phone's bluetooth.
When tracking real time can you bring up the Coordinates of GPS.

How much data does it use? I wouldn't want to try tracking and find out it used up all the MB

I have a Ebike (my last one was stolen on the 29th of last month), I've just bought something VERY similar to this BUT the one I've bought actually bolts onto the back rack, this one is magnetic so anyone walking by can just pull it off and walk away with it which defeats the object of it

Thanks for this review. I’m tempted to get one with the giff gaff sim for an e-scooter, to be used only in the case of a mugging theft (which I’ve been hearing a lot about recently). Do I understand you right, at the end of the video, about battery life and SIM card cost: that for the needs I describe, the tracker could be left in standby mode for weeks until it needs recharging, and the SIM card could last indefinitely - as the only time the battery and sim will be enabled would be to send a text or switch it on in the case of a mugging theft?
Tbh it's a long time since I used this, so I don't remember. But I think the battery is activated when ever the device started moving. A SIM would last as long as the provider allowed. Some cancel them if no action in 6 months.

*this is a serious question* I live in a building with many people living in it and someone keeps stealing my spicy nacho Doritos from my kitchen. This has happened about three times now. I’m looking for a tracker that is very exact assuming that the thief lives very close by. I plan on putting the tracker in the bottom of the bag of Doritos and track it down to the exact room. You may be asking “would t they just eat the bag of Doritos and just find the tracker?” Well I also plan on pissing in the bag so that they naturally just throw the Doritos away in their room. Anyway would this be adequate or is there another small gps that is also inexpensive and very precise in tracking.

I have a motorcycle ,/chainsaw shop and want a cheap simple tracker (as I need many) that i can drop in and froget about. Not recharge etc. If i get ripped off i can jump on my ohone and locate them. Is there anything this simple?

Hi Andy. Have you any idea why these types of devices are so large and need batteries to work, but GPS trackers for dogs, cats, birds etc. are incredibly small and don't require batteries? Thanks
They must have some kind of battery? How else would they power? Unless they are those Bluetooth things like a tile, in which case they aren't GPS trackers...
@@AAUK - Thanks for the reply. Well if pet GPS devices required batteries, they wouldn't really work effectively and when you needed them to work. I've never heard of someone recharging their dog battery before or having to get it replaced.
Just the fact that wild bird's migration habits are tracked throughout the year also suggests that these devices don't require batteries. And these things are the size of 2 grains of rice.
Sorry if it seems a little off-topic but it was something I was pondering today, and you were the first TH-camr I found talking about bike GPS devices. I have an interest in mountain biking which is why I thought to ask a fellow cyclist the question.

@@futprank5990 technically that's optional as you could use it on the website or a tablet without a SIM. The only SIM you NEED is the on in the tracker.

Hmm, honestly, I don't know if it would fit. It needs charging quite often too, which would then be a pain I would think.
question: how does the sim inside the tracker work? does it use the internet from the master sim or does it need to have its own internet? probably a silly question, i apologise in advance.
What's a master SIM? You buy a SIM, put it in the tracker and that's what it uses to connect to the intenet and send you text messages.

if you use a giff gaff in the phone swell it should be be free as giff gaff to giff gaff is free I believe. You wlil need to top up the sim every 3 months though.

Tracking is from all over the world, as long as it has a connection. The battery was not good. Detail in the video.

You could, but the battery life would be a concern.
@@AAUK you can buy a usb socket for motorcycles on eBay for £7 then plug this into it under the seat. So it gets charged whenever bike runs

It depends on their usage. It could be a day or it could be a week. Unlikely you get more than a week though.

That might be because there is no range? Does anyone ever mention the range on a mobile phone?
Range is around 2000km (low earth orbit) if you're in space ship it should be all good, as this is gps tracking device it uses satellites that only orbits earth so no luck on your planet - moon :/ sorry tho you fell from there.
@@asmile1197 im not sure thats how it works. 😂 theres no satellites circling earth. Gps is just 4g tower antenna triangulation i wonder how it works overseas. Satellites thats just in movies there might be a few but not for public

Pardon my ignorance, but would you say that the SIM card needs replacing every year or does one just load more money/time on it without having to replace it? I guess the giiffgaff SIMs are free, so what do you think it ends up costing, about $10 per year?
Just keep topping up each time it runs out. I think each persons use will vary the annual cost. I can't imagine mine would be more than maybe £15-£20 a year.
