Feel your pain man. Did a lot of fixin bikes for mates but would find allways unforseen bugger ups by others. You invested a lot of money and time to get bodged up machines is not fair. Thanks for sharing hope all will be resolved and made running again. Whishing you all the best. Greetings from the netherlands.
Wish I was closer to give you a hand mate 🙂 the joys 🙂 you have got a great collection there though, kudos for the work you put in keeping the old things going
@@bullpencycles There's a place in Hell for scammers that dope up their bikes. The old polishing a turd is possible if you freeze it and try hard enough.
I guess even the best get taken once in a while. No ball bearing. Crack in the gold tank can you send it back I don't think so. I rode one of those old Greaves it would go good then I would give it the beans and it would size up and slide to a stop. I would wait and then get another guy to kick start it because I could not kick start it and down the dirt road again. This was in California at Gold Run area. 7 broken bikes one for each day of the week. Happy April.
I have nine stroke Yamahas ranging from '67-89 plus four 21st century ottocycles...all on the road, plated and turn key. EVERYTHING RUNS. Over 350 years of cumulative ownership years, so these aren't over-restored ebay newbies. I guess not having euro two stroke dirt bike obsessions helps immensely. Paying insurance today...yesterday registrations. How's $57/year for my Kawasaki Versys 300 FULL COVERAGE sound?
That is why I am down to 3 motorcycles and 1 antique car plus my wife's truck and my truck, and there is still a lot of maintenance just on what we still own. Seems like stuff breaks just setting around.
Dave - you should try the West System 105. I haven"t used it but others here are. If you drop the bike on the tank, Caswells will crack. West System is slightly flexible
I can't tell if this is part of the game of owning vintage bikes or if you hit an unlucky streak. Either way, I've been there, done that! Hope it gets better!
Those clutch plates are a wonder. Slipper? Same old "buyer beware". Probably a lot more of that scamming going on now since more and more of us can't afford to have a hobby or run a small business anymore here in FL as well as the rest of the USA while our own fed gov't tries to break us. Nothing like eye candy!
Yeah, with all the regulation, insurance and everything I do to stay in compliance as a small business in Florida, it would be so much easier just to be a marketplace scammer, flipper and such.
You forgot to mention the fact that manheim offered you to bring the harley back or pay for it. In the state of Florida manheim doesn't make you pay unless there's a title, so when the seller didn't provide one they told you. Then you have the opportunity to return it but you wanted to keep it knowing there was no title correct?
Actually, first they denied that they offered it as titled. Even though I inquired beforehand and during the auction, they denied that claim after the sale. Then I demanded arbitration and to view the video. Eventually they relented. I got a portion of my value refunded, a negotiated settlement. It took several months. I stopped going there. Too much trouble. Too much time wasted, and not the first time. They should have titles in hand before selling bikes, in my opinion. That's what I do.
Yeah, but I dont know where in the chain that happened. Its likely the previous seller did not know. These bikes can be passed around quite a bit through other resellers.
Things have got to get better!! Lord knows they can’t get much worse! Thank you for your great videos!
Actually, that's the bad thing. They CAN get much worse.
Man that's some crazy Frankenstein stuff going on with those Bultacos. I'm sure you'll get them sorted out. Great video!
Hope so!
After watching you kick and kick that 360....I needed a nap...whew!..Nice collection.
So did I!
Dave, broken or not-you have some “BAD ASS” sleds! What an eye!!👍
You need one of those wheel starters where you place the back wheel in and hit the foot switch.
I have one. They wont start a bike if its broken tho. I need the magic version!

For the most part, I did not pay up for them, but sometimes I get stung.
Here in Australia Dave we also call them a Mishmash build and quite often use the term Hand Grenade. built from shrapnel!!!
Actually, is the English translation of Metrala, shrapnel?
Hi Dave, as always I enjoyed this but talk about getting anxiety🤭 this just reinforced that I have no buisness buying vintage/auction bikes.🤣😅😂
Oh, its not that bad! These are all fixable.
I kept waiting for something to work. Stressful video to watch.
Well, I guess the title said it all! Lol
sins of the previous owner. @@bullpencycles

@@bullpencycles its the CB700SC up in the air this time for me lol, it never asks for much though, some are more needy than others 🙂
Kinda looks like my place, broken bikes and all....cheers

Happy April Fools Day!
haha!

Remind me again why we love motorcycles so much
All of a sudden; after some work, something will run good.
Yeah, that's how it goes. Ups and downs

Ha, one for each day of the week. Love that!
Your title should've been So you think you want a motorcycle dealership. I had one. Never realized something could eat that much money that fast,
That's not the part that bothers me about owning a dealership. Its all the compliance paperwork and insurance and clerical stuff.

I like the dramatic clutch plates music. you should rename that gold assed Bultaco to Fooltaco, or Bullshitaco or maybe Crueltaco.
Ah, you noticed that, the music there! Cool! Thank you.

I think my fear is the tank prep. But I hear you on the caswell being so firm and taught!
Yeah - one of my Sherpa tanks is ruined - fuel leached in between caswell and tank. @@bullpencycles
After you take care of everything else, the rear springs on the Pursang seem pretty soft, Dave.
Ha! They go up. They go down. All good! Lol

I think its part of it
Well I guess you can say at least my shop is full. No lack of work.
I need to clone a younger version of myself.
I had an Alpina that would fill up the base with fuel and refuse to start .I traded it and cash for my first KDX.
I dont want to give up . . . pride I guess!
Dave . No more auctions. 😮
Ha! Wait til you see what's being delivered tomorrow!
Is this your idea of an April Fools joke? Loved those clutch plates, my ball used to get welded on to the end of the rod.
Hmmm. You might want to rephrase that!
I know, it coukd be construed as dirty. My Ysr50 used to weld the ball bearing to the shaft when we used to really run it.
Excellent 👍
Thank you. Awesome you like it!
Take a brake Dave and put a few relaxing miles on the Herc 😊
Actually, I have to dig one of those out too!

Yeah, but which 4 stroke Amal carby would be made in Spain?
