    I put 35,000 miles on mine riding it full time, (no car,) in Colorado for 4 years. My all-time favorite bike. Mine had a half-fairing. I did everything from playing in the dirt in northern MI, and power-sliding on gravel roads in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, up to the top of the 4WD trail over Hayden Pass on the Continental Divide, and ridden as much as 1,100 miles in 16 hours in the rain and snow on I-80. I rode mine from CO to MI half a dozen times, (probably more,) just adjusting the chain at a rest-stop in eastern Iowa each way.
    They are NOTHING like the 350 twins! The old CB-350 twins are top-heavy, uncomfortable, and incredibly hard to handle by comparison. That bike you have is the quietest, most comfortable bike in the world, although I don't know how quiet they are with only 2 mufflers. I got mine ported and polished for just a bit more punch, but it was still so silent that when sitting beside a car at a light I once in a while hit the starter thinking my bike had stalled. It hadn't. I rode it 600 miles one day, then went out dancing that night. Some Harley rider once asked me if I had a kidney belt. I asked him, "What's that?"
    You did NOT pay too much for it. If I could still ride I would have paid $3K for it in a heartbeat. Get a windshield/fairing for it, and you will have a miniature Cadillac. Mine was so comfy I once fell asleep on it out on the interstate in the middle of the day. I'd set the throttle lock at 70 mph and leaned back against my sleeping bag, and woke up bouncing through the ditch. Kept it upright, but I was shaking like a leaf for the next 10 minutes.
    Each piston is essentially the same as the ones in a Honda 90. Tiny.
    I was at a light in Colo. Spgs when a guy in a Ferrari pulled up beside me. We just looked at each other and smiled, and eased away silently from the light. We had nothing to prove to anyone. Don't ever sell that bike, (although I bet you can easily double your money,) and do get the small fairing. It will be like driving a convertible around town. It is truly a collector's piece, not only because it is a rare classic, but because it is a jewel to ride. You can even put an extra tooth on the rear sprocket, and terrorize the tractor trails. You now own a magic carpet.

    In ‘76 I went to buy a CB350. My dad said it was too small and I should buy the 750. Back then 750 was a very large bike. I settled for the CB550-4. It was a great ‘settle’. Miss those classic Hondas.

      Thinking back….I bought it in early ‘77. The salesman said they had a ‘76 “still in the box”. I had no idea bikes were shipped in boxes. Live and learn.

      They were smooth. In 76 I had a 1973 750 4 and a buddy had a new Sportster. The Sport vibrated alot! I was glad I had the Honda.
      The 350 4cyl is screamer with red line over 10000 rpm.

      My first road bike was a CB550F. Smooth, reliable, decent handling. Wouldn't mind another one now, nearly 50 years later.

      i can tune a stock cb550 to out run 1000s of the same years in the 1/4 mile and embarrass the hell out of 750s of back then

    To think I was two years old when that was brand new. Now I feel old.

      My brother was 17 years old in June 1972 as he was a senior in high school my parents granted him the Okay to buy a motorcycle (this model 350 HONDA) to get to class each day. Of course his inexperience got him and a buddy on the back in trouble leaving the campus one day for a quick spin at lunch break. BANG! A crash pulling out of the school parking lot cost his buddy a fractured leg but in the end everyone was still fine, alive most importantly, just not kicking too well. The school tripping became an item of contention as you might imagine.

      p.s. Coincidently as a Junior in the same high school a couple years later, my buddy had a 350 HONDA with a custom lace painted fuel tank that I rode into San Francisco Bay... My Pop was so cool when he came to the rescue us that afternoon.
      My friend and I were cutting classes to so he could teach me how to ride, TALK about a scenario that one lived hoping desperately was a dream as I surfaced after being dunked going head over the handle bar diving and submerginmg under water ... how I didn't break my neck... BTW that has been my only time ever in 50 years since to attempt riding a motorbike. Sad story I know, but a great tale to tell your grandkids... kind of a life lesson... NOT REALLY! I hope you're laughing believe it or not my friend said it was the funniest thing he'd ever witnissed.

    Love the bike. The 400 / 4 was very popular in the UK in the'70's. Honda also had a 500/4 a 550/4. Don't remember the 350/4. My neighbour in the'70's had a 500/4 on which he did an S&S big bore kit, gas flowed the head, high lift cam, and changed the 4 into 4 exhaust into a matt black 4 into 1 exhaust. That thing flew and sounded beautiful. Carb balancing was tricky, and he had problems with the exhaust studs shearing off. They also did a 750/4, 900/4 and a CBX1000/6. Sadly, he passed away on the CBX, but I have good memories of him from those times.

      Hi, I understand that the 350 four was not imported into the UK by Honda. Maybe it would have clashed with their 350 g5 twin? Just a thought but not a statement of fact.

      @@awtistiaeth4699 I vaguely remember a 250N super dream and a 400n super dream, both twins with Comstar wheels. They did have a 400/4 which was loved by many as a Swiss watch but not massively popular , because at the time , if you passed your test for 250 , you could buy any capacity and big bikes didn't cost much more

      @@Pat14922 ​ It sounds like I'm slightly older than you, but not by much (62)The super dreams were modern for me and came after I'd started biking, so yes, I too rode stonking 2-2stroke (Yamaha yds7 250) that was 'worked' on to be slightly quicker (not as much as I though most likely).
      You're right about the lax laws in those days though. It was mad that you could take a test on an 80cc motorbike and then jump onto a 6-cyl 1300 cc Kawasaki or some other monster machine, but it was equally mad that we could get on a 100mph plus (just) 250 with no training or experience whatsoever, (I had at least learned on an FS1Y Yamaha sports moped). It was bloody great fun though! haha

      @@Frz45 ​ @Frz45 OOO. I'm happy to be corrected, and glad I prefaced the comment with a caveat ("as I understand it); I'll go and do some 'digging', as that was always my understanding.
      Were they only imported for a short while then? I remember the 500/4 (rode a black 1973 one) and the G5 250/360 and of course the later 400/4 which was a pretty little thing. My mate had one and I rode it often and it was silky smooth. I preferred twins though and purchased a metallic brown and gold CB-500T that was very smart. Everyone took the piss and said they were shite but I loved it. I rode it around France for my honeymoon (took the wife lol) and used it as part of my 'fleet' as a despatch bike.
      Still riding now and using an ER-5, but with two buggered hips it hurts to put my feet down as the seat digs in where they're damaged. Unfortunately, time for a cruiser so I can step through to mount, instead of swinging my leg over, which also hurts. The Suzuki Savage has a low seat height and would suit my riding style these days (sedate with an occasional blat), so that' a possibility when I have some cash. I'm also trying to reinstate my 2-wheel drive Dnepr MT-16, a Ukrainian outfit/trike that I can clamber over to get on and off and that has no need for putting feet down when you stop.

    That was my first street bike. Dad gave it to me when I was sixteen in the mid 80’s. I left it behind when I left for the Air Force and wish I had it today. Thanks for the memories!

      @@OneWildTurkey, My first bike at 17, it was the first production bike to redline at 10K. I had a older friend who raced bikes & was a top notch mechanic. I asked Ken with zero miles on it, whats the best way to break it in. I listed to him to the letter, out of 4 -other 350 Fours in high school I walked away from them all, top speed was 115 mph laying down. I would go through the gears slapping the tach needle off the 12K peg. It would sound like a miniature F-1 engine & whine. Much , torque I'd burn 100' rut in the pavement, I blew off a lot of other bikes, except the F-2 -F-3 two stroke Kawasaki's as they both had the quarter mile records then. I loved it for a first bike & she brought me to heaven's gates & back again......haha

    Love watching those old honda videos. I had a 72 cb350, a 71 cl175, 81 cx500 (smoothest ride ever) and currently still have a 74 xr75 brand new bought by my father. Old Hondas can't be beat.

    Home run for a non-runner! I owned and road one for 5 years. It is very smooth riding as a single rider. Carb synchronization is a must.

      I honestly wouldn't of tried to get it cheaper. More than fair at 1500 bucks w a title in that condition....he's lucky it didn't insult the guy...I would of been insulted.

    Man, gotta love those old Honda four cylinders, I had two different 750-4's , and a 550-4 and all of them ran like a top. One of those 750's and the 550 my Uncle rebuilt from the ground up, including the paint too. And I tried years ago to get a 750-4 auto from this old man I knew, that bike was superb too, he didn't ride it very much but he would not turn loose of that bike for nothing.

      I had a 750 auto, or should I say semi-auto like the little trail bikes,I would foot the shifter once from a stop,would drink my pop with open face helmet with left hand,I rode it everywhere ,just sold it after a few years,working fine when I did,typical Honda

    I had one of these machines in the early 80's in New Zealand - same colour and all. All I can say is that they were a fantastic bike to ride, and I loved it. Thank you for showing this one. Brings back many amazing memories.

    My first bike back in 1987 was a CB350 four. Cost me a princely $350 in clean, good running condition.Way better than the twins.
    I also picked up a CB400 Super Sport for $175 bucks. That was a fun bike.
    They were so cheap back then we would beat the crap out of them, throw it away then buy another. Who knew someday they would be worth something.

    Brings back lots of memories. I had a clone of this one between 73 and 75. Small enough to get in places the bigger ones couldn't and just big enough for the freeway in SoCal. Would occasionally take it from San Bdno to San Diego but my feet and butt would be numb by the time I got there. Glad you're thinking of keeping it, it should be good for years to come.

    Nice! I had a cb400f for years. Electronic ignition upgrade was worth it.. no more points. The weakest point of this motor is the cam chain adjuster. It strips or breaks. They always sound good under load. You called it- perfect city bike. 3rd gear is great! 65 feels like 100 :). I did get a pinch flat once when pushing it in the twisties. Yours is perfect just the way she is! Always great work. Nice win after that YZ :)

    I had a CB350 twin and a friend had the 350 Four. The four was fun to ride, smooth, and quiet. When we rode them places and "raced" a bit, the twin would beat the four every time. Probably lower internal friction and better breathing with the twin. The air filter on the four never sealed right and was too small. It was always clogging. The twin had two huge air filter s one each side. I remember helping with carb issues on the four and it was a nightmare to get it apart - no room. Valve adjustment was not easy either. Watchmakers wouldn't have any trouble but gas axe artists like me had difficulty. The fours do have a cult following and I am told owners get gouged massively for carb kits and other maintenance parts vs other bikes.

      @@richarddegen6184 The CB350 Four was/is. About as fast as its much lighter grandfather - the CB77 - a 28.5 hp, 305cc twin (1961-1966). . . with a four speed. In its day, it would beat both the BSA and Triumph 500cc twins to about 60 mph. And dependable? I rode one from Sherbrooke, QC down to Atlanta - ajusted the valves - and rode it back home. All highway miles - avg. 75+ mph - not a glitch. And @ 72 mpg, love to have one today.

    Always wanted one of those. Worked on a lot of them. The 350 twin was actually faster but they were as smooth as a sewing machine. One of the few Honda models I never owned being a Honda service tech for 42 yrs.

      It's a smooth fast little bike & can cruise all day. I beat a 350 twin before but not the two strokes. Top speed I achieved with mine was 115mph, flat road from Orlando to Coco Beach to go surfing. I almost chit, I thought I heard him say 15K for the bike...haha $1,500 is a good price I paid $1,000 brand new in 1974 with zero miles on it. I even shagged on it, Gf loved it. Thats what she got for telling me I couldn't do it .I would ride it from sun up to sun down, a little saddle sore, but I would walk it off & ride again. I wanted the 750cc, but mother wouldn't co-sign for it. Whatever beats hitch hiking with all the freaks & weirdo's on the roads. I told her I'm packing a 6" fillet knife for protection & pulled it from my pocket at the Honda dealership, sold she said we'll take this one...haha Metallic Blue Black it would change colors in the light.

    Seeing that bike sure brings back a lot of memories, Out of all the bikes I’ve ever owned the one I wish I had never gotten rid of. Was my 1972 Honda CB 500 Four or as I affectionately called my HondaHarley … I got it in 1985 and I gave it to a friend of mine before I moved in 1999… Undoubtably one the best bikes I’ve ever owned sure wish I had it back.. $1500 on that 350 is a great deal !!

    You did really well with this 350 four. It took very little to get it working and it's running great. $1500 plus a new battery is a bargain for this. I'd like to see a comparison of number of moving parts in this compared to a single cylinder 2 stroke 350 :)

      Maybe something like a Yamaha DT350. The RD350 engine was also 2 stroke but had 2 cylinders.

    Now that brought back some memories for me! I had a CB450 twin (can't remember the year) I paid $250 for before restoring and painting it. Boy, did that thing vibrate! Long trips were a pain! I traded it on a 650 four-cylinder that I rode for a while. Man, it was smooth! In 1981, I traded the 650 for a new V45 Magna (750) with water cooling and shaft drive. That was my last bike. The most fun bike I had was probably the Kawasaki KE250. I rode it on trails, but also rode it to work. I bought it used for $450.

    This is a once in a life-time bike right there. Take your own advice and never sell it. Just imagine if you could find a new-old-stock tank, OMG.
    If I wasn't so far away I would buy it off you in a heart beat.
    That sound is intoxicating, it took me straight back to the seventies, I was ginning ear to ear.

    First bike I ever rode. 74 350-4. I was in middle school. Dad asked if I wanted to sit on the bike. 😂 little did he know I read a book how to ride a motorcycle in the school library. He was so pissed but it was so much fun.

    love these bikes. I was born in 1971, my dad had a 1973 cb350four. his had green but the pinstripe was goldish. They made the 350s for shorter guys and gals. My dad is only 5foot 2.

    When I was a sophomore(1980) in high school, a senior I knew had one. It was orange and he had removed the stock mufflers and replaced them with four VW pea shooters. Sounded pretty cool to me.

    i’ve got a 75 CB400F i revived 16 years ago after it was wrecked in 92 and left under a tarp until I got it in 07. the 400 replaced the 350 so they’re very similar. sounds just like mine down to the noisy cam chain. These little bikes are so incredibly tough too.

    I worked for a Honda shop in sales back in the day and I really liked this bike Someone traded a 350 in on a 750 and I got to ride the used 350 quite a lot. Smoothest bike ever!

    These Honda fours are some of the best bikes ever made. I had a later 400/4 and it was superb. I would balance the carbs though, well worth the effort.

    Can’t believe you’re actually working on this! I had a new 1973 but mine was red. I was 16 years old and this was my second motorcycle, started on a Honda CL100. Loved it, but then sold it when I went into the Navy in 1974.

    In 1976 that was the dream bike of mine. As I had little money, I had to settle for a 1972 Honda CB 175k as my first street bike. Loved her a lot and after putting 16k on her I moved up to a 1973 Honda CB 500 four a year later. Then got my 750F just a year after that. Honda motorcycles for the win. Still have the 750 and she is my baby sitting next to my CBR. Always had to buy used as I'd rather be riding then working!!! LOL

    I was surprised how good it sounded. As for the spark plugs, I've heard honda jetted their bikes lean. Since they also looked different It would be a good idea to sync them.

    Back in the day we took our bikes wherever we needed to go. On road off road, thats a great bike too have fun with. Fun video. Glad it went well. We were all praying for ya.

    My grandfather had 2 of these. Grandma sold his last one after he passed so my brother and I wouldn't fight over it. Still to this day my favorite sounding motorcycle.

      That was my favorite bike I had one and drove it across the country very smoth and ballenced 10,000 rpm no problem cruse 70 to 80 mph rode it 100 miles with no hands so ballenced

    I've owned my CB350K all its life and greatest smooth multipurpose bike I've ever owned. I'm 74 and still love to get her out every chance I get.

    Wow! My first road bike was a CB200, it was my Dads and he gave it to me for my 17th birthday, 17 is the age we can get our learners for a motorbike in Australia. I rode that thing for years, doubling my mates and my first wife, I don't think I ever gave it an oil change, I didn't maintain it at all actually apart from adjusting the chain, brakes and such, unfortunately I rode it in to the ground, so nice to see a young bloke like you having respect for such a fine machine, much love and respect from Australia 🇦🇺

    This is so cool...My Uncle had one of these....I used to ride it to work in the early 80's. As I recall this was the smallest 4 cylinder street bike Honda made.

    Love hearing that sound again! There was nothing like the 400/ 4 super sport when it first came out. This one's exhaust note sounds exactly the same. The only thing this is missing is the turn signal beeper!

    Great bike, I road a cb400f in San Fan back in 1981. Fun , needs to rev. You should add the correct chrome headers and the four chrome mufflers.

    Not surprised that it started right up. Honda's from the 70's are so well built they can stay years without running and all it takes is clean gas and carb. The 350's four are great candidates for Cafe Racer conversion. Here's a little tips for you, you probably know it already but anyway. When connecting a battery it is good practice to connect the positive first and negative second, this way if you accidently touch the frame with the screwdriver you will not short the battery since the negative is not yet connect yet. To disconnect you disconnect the negative first and positive second. Great work love your vid.

    What a find! Owned several Honda 4s in the seventies but never even saw one of these. Doesn't surprise me how well it runs, or how good it sounds. I always liked those 4 bulbs in the display for some reason, such a trivial thing but I still like them just as much now. Motorcyclists are like that,we relate to the machines in all kinds different ways. Love the video, thanks!

    Great find, nice to see a road bike getting some TLC particularly this valuable survivor classic. Reminds me of my 1974 CB500four, so rewarding to work on. Old Hondas never die.

    Honda 400 Four was popular in Europe. Mid-70s bikes I think. They were common enough on the roads here in the 80s. Similar looking bike, but with four full chrome pipes. Maybe pipes might be compatible? Fabulous sound when revving.

    Worked at a Honda motorcycle shop in Irving Texas from 1971 till 1984. Bought a used 350 four cylinder in 78 or so. Very smooth running bike.

    I spent my HS years on my 1973 350 four. It's bullet proof, so don't be scared to keep it red lined. It was Mr Honda's pride.

    I had one just like this when I lived in Ca in the 80's rode it to work everyday and to go fishing, had to sell when I moved . sure wish I had it now miss that bike.

    Thank you for not insulting our intellect by asking us if we think it will run!! I'm 61 years old and when I was 16 I bought a Puch because I gave my car to my sister for her wedding present since her fiance blew up the engine in his car 2 days before the wedding! lol But anyways I lived in Woodland Hills and living there really helped make me fall in love with motorcycles.
    I had the Puch for about a year and then I bought a Honda 250 and I loved that bike!! Of all the bikes I've owned that one was my favorite. Although the 1976 Norton 750 I had was awesome too although it was a bit heavier for a 170lb guy lol but that was expected with a bigger bike. I was gonna say I could swear there should be 4 exhaust pipes but you caught that! This turned out to be a great buy! I was surprised there wasn't a lot of ethanol gel in them bowls tho! At 49:40 is that a little hovercraft? That's cool! Enjoyed it!

    My late Father owned one of these in the mid 70s,his view that it was beautifully smooth but needed to be revved high to get it to perform Auckland New Zealand 2023

    Always loved the air-cooled Honda CBs. Best buddy had the CB250 Superdream in 1980 which back then you could ride at 16 on a provisional (learner's) license in the UK without taking the full bike test. When the new law came in two years later he passed his test and took me on a camping holiday on it (yes on a lil'old 250). I had a CB125 Superdream for a while followed by a CBR400 Japanese import pocket rocket, red-line at 14,000!

    A friend of mine bought one of those, new and it was a huge disappointment for him. After a few weeks he traded it for a 750 BMW and he was much happier. I rode the 350 once and wasn't too impressed. I had owned two 350's previously (2 cylinders) and was happy with them. I see why they only produced the 350 / 4 for a short time. Have fun with yours.

    I had a 1971 CL-350 I bought when it was a year old. The CL redlined at 10,500 rpm versus the CB twin that redlined at 8,500. 5 of us that were in the same squadron had 350 CLs. We’d ride roads along the Maine coast on weekends in the summer.

    I had one of these bikes when I got out of the army in 1976. I had a lot of fun on it. My dad liked it so much he bought one too. I had the green one like yours and he had the candy red one.

    My first street bike in 1985 at the age of 14 yrs old. Mine was a 1973. Traded it for a 1975 550Four at 15 yrs old. The 550four would outrun the 750Four till 4th gear then come up short. Vetter faring and tour pack. They had no other sound. Awwwwwww Memories!! LmOldao. Keep up the good work!! Peace

      Contact the National Motorcycle Museum located in Anamosa Iowa. They may be interested in it for display. Last time I was there they didn't have a 350Four.

    I fixed and restored many of these 350fours. My favorite was one that had a hooker header right out of the 1970s. Wow that bike ran sweet . Sound was amazing.

    I had the 400/4 that was one of favourite bikes. Good for 115mph and handled superbly. You should loosen the air box before trying remove the carbs. Carb number 2 from the left is the set carb that you balance the others to when it is running .

    Did my driver license on the next version 400 cc four in 1976.
    This bike drove very smoothly without much noise. Not overly fast, no vibration. It's not a bike for machos more for grandpa's
    Drive now a 2021 CB 500x. There is much more power and noise. Ironically, I am now a grandpa.

    Rare bike, but they're out there, get them in once in a while here. Not a fan of working on em, but keeps the lights on. Inventory today, and re order stuff, don't like working Sundays but business is business. Hoping here soon to hit the mountains for some good trail riding. Want to get the quads out and maybe even the vintage bikes for trail ride. After the long tough winter, can't wait. Got boat ready to, getting all that runoff is nice.
