If you've never been around young kids (between 6-9) when they are playing dress-up or house or whatever, you won't understand the sheer amount of horrifying topics they routinely get into. One of my friends who works as a teachers assistant once told me she overheard a pair of girls roleplaying a physically and emotionally abusive husband and wife scenario with their toys, up to and including excessive drinking, violence and the societal fallout between the family and their peers.
When I asked if it was because the kids had experienced that in their home life, she told me that only one of the pair even had a still living father, and that there was nothing to suggest issues at home for either child, yet they still seemingly understood the concept enough to roleplay about it. These are very complex topics!
I think that kids are vastly more perceptive than people ('people' in this scenario being 18-30 year old's on the internet, basically your target audience) give them credit for because they often can't verbalize this understanding when asked about it, but if you pay attention to the stories they tell each other you will find plenty of mature topics that you wouldn't otherwise expect out of a child. Especially for social issues.
They might not understand enough about economics to roleplay a destitute family during the great depression, but the certainly can understand social issues like R-word, self harm, pregnancy or murder.
Unfortunately, they don't have enough tact or much understanding on the impacts of what they say on the internet, which is why you get so many crazy titles (like that R-word till she likes it video) that any mature person would obviously avoid posting. They'll tell you about their characters doing horrible things with a smile on their face, and they certainly can't comprehend the reach of youtube videos in the real world.
I know it has been 10 months but I did the same thing as a child with my younger sister so you definitely have a point.
Now that, is a terrifying thought.

Fun fact: Gacha Life actually has minigames. There’s a sword-fighting minigame, a rhythm minigame, etc. Barely anyone plays them though, most people just use the “Skit Maker” feature that these Gachatubers use to create their videos.
Also I wouldn’t really say Gacha Life is an animation service at all. IIRC you can only make one photo on it and then save or clear it, you can’t make a collection of photos on it. So to make these “animation” (or as you called it, storyboard) videos you have to make a frame, take a screenshot of it, press “clear”, and then repeat the process again and again and again. Once you’re done, you have to dump the photos into a video editor like Kinemaster or Videoleap in order. Then you put music over it if you want to. It’s actually a very long, tedious process, and honestly I can’t really blame kids for making bad movies with it, because even the bad movies take a shitton of time to make. Even making a 20 frame Gacha “animation” takes a long time. Now imagine making a ten minute Gacha “animation” with hundreds, if not thousands of frames.
How do you make one that is 1 hour long?? How many frames is that?? How long would that take?? WHY WOULD ANYONE WASTE THEIR TIME ON THAT??
@@Thtaoy1029 well some 1 hour movies are actually pretty good,but they're just a rare gem to find,idk i guess some people just prefer to use a children's app for those kinds of movies,if you want to watch a good movie you should watch ones like 'witch academia' although that one is 3 hours long

As someone in the gacha community, since this video, it has improved. A lot less people do cringey videos. People also do things in Live2D Cubism a lot. People also don’t time it as poorly now. Yes, we still have these people, worse, actually. We got a lot of gacha heat (USUALLY poorly made r34), racist and homophobic people, and a lot more cringe. It’s actually thankfully the minority now. The old 2018 cringe gacha stories actually give me a bit of nostalgia now. You should dive back into it now and look at the nowadays community! We got a lot of really nice animators and creators now! Gacha Club in general unlocked a lot of opportunities with the improvements!

As someone who fell down this rabbit hole and even downloaded and looked through Gacha Life, let me say that when you ask "Is there not an animation", means that you haven't even touched the surface.
Lesson number 1: No. They do not have an animation. The only things that can move or articulate themselves is the characters, and although the options to move them are very specific, there's not very much variety (out of over 1000 options, most of them are slight variations of others. There's probably less than maybe 200 unique ones, outside of the meme ones like TALL. And SHORT.)
Lesson number 2: They are not all bad, but the ones that are good are extremely hidden among the trash. And the trash are usually because of things outside of the creator's control because it's all extremely user unfriendly.
There's some honestly good ideas and storytelling underneath a lot of the trash, but are muddied because nothing is easy to do. If you want to create a 12 second meme of a song (essentially a Gacha Tiktok) you have to save a screenshot, go back, change something you want to be different, come back, save another screenshot, repeat for hours and maybe you'll have a somewhat watchable mess that lasts for 12 seconds, took hours of effort, and literally nobody will watch. Not to mention dialogue and movements, which are their own cans of worms.
All in all, the community is a mixed bag of all ages who all worship one crappy animation software(?) as an outlet for their creativity.
Jesus... at that point, it would probably just be easier to learn how to actually draw by hand.

As a person who has been in the gacha vommunity for around 4 years, id say that everything is going downhill. For example, in 2019 going to 2020 it was a chill community were kids just have fun and be creative, there were no standards you can make the most over powered oc you can ever make and everyone was fine with it, Why? Because It was fun. But nowadays, your expected to spend 3 hours Making the character move, tween, make realistic edits and more. They have just taken the fun out of it, not to mention how now characters have been EXTREMELY sexualized.
[Note: it lowkey funny how they make fun of the "edgy emo alpha" but make simmilar characters to that stereotype] But jokes aside, im disappointed and sad that a community that has been my home for 4 years is so ruined and toxic.

6:01 the top one (MidoriStories) is something recommendable considering the person making it produces pretty good quality stories, isn’t strange and creepy, and even though he makes a lot of mistakes, it’s obvious he puts genuine effort and passion into his work.
this community i find myself in is indeed pretty disturbing, and it can be hard to look past its dark side. i remember being one of the people who hated gacha just because you were "supposed to" and it was "just for cringy kids", and to be completely honest, i regret dropping that attitude to this day, primarily because of the focal point of this video, that being gacha heat etc. that's not to say the gacha community is all bad, i've met some amazingly talented and nice people in this community, hence the reason i'm not planning on leaving it any time soon. although, in my personal opinion, this community is incredibly welcoming, kind and talented, if you stay on the right side of youtube.

I downloaded the game some months ago, and after a bit, deleted it, and then like a month later, heard about all the online shit about it.
I just used it as a dress up game. Had a lot of prettt nice options. Was fun for even a few hours. I never cared about the story making thing.

Also from what I can see, it's not really the dev's fault. The game itself has nothing that would suggest making this type of thing. It even said in it's update notes that like they changed some things to try to prevent inappropriate use.
As a Gacha kid, yeah, the fandom is wild. But there are diamonds in the rough, you just have to search for them. People like Pokie Pizza or RosyClozy are good examples. It's very saddening to see the Gacha community have such a bad rap, but really, they do deserve most of it, but always remember, no matter how bad a fandom is, there are always those that try to be better.
I left the fandom around 2020, the rep is very low; I wish that gen alpha didn't behave this way.
Something that's also annoying is gacha "Music videos" that get more views than the actual song, like "Broken" by Lund or "I'll Sleep When I'm Dead" By Set it Off. It's really damn annoying.

Wonder egg priority
The amount of work my little sister puts into *one* story is baffling almost, for a little dress up app. She'll be working on something from one to three months, and it'll take up half of her ipad space until she has none left. But if she made it into a video, it'd probably only be about twenty-ish minutes. She's only eight, going on nine, and I admire her dedication as an artist myself.
She's even begun to make her own little edits, and is getting really good at them, too. It's definitely helping her improve on her own art. She traces a lot less now.
That being said, I really have to be careful and watch what she's finding. Because it's definitely not all great...Which is disappointing...
